Let's invest in a cryptocoin that's totally controlled by banks. What could possibly go wrong?

they'll be recognized as legitimate... banks are going nowhere btw.

ps. ripple is a private company, not a bank.

If you search long enough you can find an article about almost anything on the internet.

I can find a dozen of articles that reveal the ripple scam. Just type ripple/scam on google. Why do you ignore those articles?

why do you ignore articles like this?

https://stripe.com/blog/ending-bitcoin-support

the miners / btc overlords can't figure out what to do, and it's impacting widespread adoption. enjoy living off the grid with high fees!

hahahaha, I found an article saying the world was flat!!! im scared, if its on the internet it simply must be true right?

yes, it's true. google "stripe abandoning bitcoin".

The list is not even comprehensive, it rates Doge a C and in comparison Ethereum is only a B to that.

agreed. most bogus list i've ever seen. there aren't even explanations for how everything was rated!

Why people would buy it now?

because ETH is a vetted project with strong fundamentals. do you think XVG will ever get the same legitimacy as ethereum? it's like investing in a penny stock vs. google. some people gamble, while others invest, learn the difference.

Hello all!

Firstly, this is my first post on this forum and would like to say hi to everyone, especially Ripple followers.

Secondly, I am a follower of Ripple. I am not fond of it (since it's currently centralized and controlled by the banks) but I find it interesting. I bought some XRP coin before the big jump just to be part of the game.

Thirdly, have some questions...

a) Ripple announced (if I remember correctly) that they will announce 2 major non-banking firms that will partner with Ripple for New Year's Eve but they didn't. Could anyone speculate with concrete arguments why they haven't done that already? Or did they just make fake marketing to pump the XRP coin and fool people into buy it?
I remember a tweet from Ripple about the announcement they didn't make - they sad that these things take time. Yes, sure but why did they sad it in the first place?

b) People are speculating that those 2 non-banking firms would be Amazon and Uber.  What is you opinion on that?

c) Ripple announced that they will decentralize the XRP token. Does this mean that Ripple would get rid of their major share of the XRP tokens? What will happen with the price?

Thanks for every reasonable reply.

it's not "controlled" by banks. ripple is an independent company which offers solutions for global payments. they connect banks, payment providers, digital asset exchanges, etc.

There's too much shadiness with founder's stake/premine, lawsuits. On top of that, Ripple's ability to censor any payments as well rollback payments is just a big no for me. I already have a banker alt coin. Its called USD issued by the Fed.

do you like ethereum? because the devs premined an additional 17% of the 72m supply at launch. USD is not an altcoin, it's the global reserve currency...

A Bankercoin fan accuses bitcoin for being a banker coin. You would make Orwell proud.

😂  the CME group offers btc futures trading - they're the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, and are the epitome of the system you hate... you're blind and obviously unwillingly to accept this.

WoW that was a huge problem that ripple solved indeed. /s (except it doesn't at all)

Why would anyone give a fuck about banks when you can send your bitcoins without needing any 3rd parties... This shit is just a trojan horse, a malware to keep you in the banking system. Not to mention its completely centralized.

Btw, can you show me a single example of Ripple's use case? Like which banks accept ripple transactions? Show me one.

sending bitcoins? why would i want to pay on average $20+ in transaction fees and wait 1+ hr for a btc transaction clear? this conversation isn't even worth having, because you have no clue about how the economy works... do you think everything is always paid in full? the economy runs on debt/IOU's, bonds, derivatives, etc. whether i'm "kept in the system" or not won't change how the economy runs. you're an idealistic fool if you think things will ever change in that regard.

also, quit using the "completely centralized" bullshit... bitcoin is also a bankers coin now, and the price was decimated by the CME offering futures and it hasn't recovered. you think the top 3 mining pools controlling 51+% of the hash isn't centralized? GTFO. 2 people (roger ver and jihan wu) also have massive influence over the btc market and don't even claim legacy as the true bitcoin. why should 2 people be allowed to have massive influence like this?

for every 2, 3rd party nodes, ripple will remove one of their own, so that no entity operates a majority. the end game is that ripple will operate 0. you obviously lack an awareness of what's happening because everything i've said is PUBLIC INFORMATION. decentralization is a top priority for them in 2018.

ever hear of the interledger protocol (ILP)?, ripple is enabling the ability to trade/send other tokens on this protocol because the btc blockchain is garbage... leave it to the "most hated crypto" to solve the problems others can't on their own. if the miners and crypto overlords weren't greedy and trying to massively profit themselves, they could have actually stuck to the original ideals of satoshi, and solved this crypto anarchist problem you all dream of...

Banks already have a working system between them. Ripple solves nothing. Ripple is just another malware like bcash trying to take down this whole thing.

so giving banks the ability to transfer funds to another bank in 4 seconds vs. the "working" system of taking up to 3 days is solving nothing? give it a rest, you're not living in reality. you're just another malware to life...

While it undoubtedly made a lot of money for those who invested in in early and while the price was low (read, mostly bankers), a lot more people have been burned with its hype and then sudden price drop.

See, this is not the first time people got burned on Ripple. It happened before, it happened now and it will happen in the future when they see the chance to grab more money.
This time a lot of new investments came in late 2017 and the money flowed yet again into bankers pocket.

If you really want that new house and be free from bankers influence, the best way is to vote with your money and choose something else.

Ripple should be removed from coinmarketcap.com

hahahaha. bitcoin hit $20k and fell to $12.6k in a matter of weeks (and is stuck below $15k). hilarious you mention ripple and bankers, but fail to see that bankers offering bitcoin futures is what decimated the price. bitcoin is a bankers coin now! GTFO ➡️

This has no chance to compete with Bitcoin in the long run. It's not useful as a currency, and not useful for banks in any way. It's all empty. I did make some profits with this, but it's dirty money, I'm ashamed. Will not touch again. See how I cannot even bring myself to say the name of this... token...  Sad

Just like rivers return into the ocean, all the money will return to Bitcoin in the end.

not useful? 😂

I wouldn't directly compare BTC to XRP.  One is a pioneer and one is just up and coming in its own right.  I know XRP will be big, but I doubt it will ever overcome BTC or ETH.

Er. Without XRP, Moneygram can still be used. It may have added a benefit, but what extra thing will not work without Ripple? Partnerships make the companies stronger yes, but not the users. You ask what Bitcoin is doing? That's the whole point, it doesn't need to do anything, and people are already using it. It doesn't need partnerships, promotions, hyping and shilling or bounties, and yet people are buying selling and exchanging it for cash.

You're deluded if you think announcements like that are what makes a coin.

you're right, i'm so deluded... forgot that bitcoin doesn't need to do anything, because it's processing transactions which take 51 minutes with an average cost of $20.

Stop being obfuscated when people attack your investments. I don't think xrp is a scam - at least not in the classic sense of the word - but it is a trojan horse and a something that should not be bought by people that want crypto, not some con artists succeed. There are other options for fast, cheap (fee-less even) coins out there. Xrp is the most centralized coin out there. There are 55 nodes as far as I'm aware, all owned by ripple. With centralization of this magnitude, we could scale bitcoin beyond visa levels. So all in all, xrp can eat shit and die as far as I'm concerned. It is a cancerous growth within crypto, as much as bitconnect is.

how am i obfuscating? this person said it's not useful and "has no chance to compete with bitcoin in the long run"... ripple is announcing real partnerships, what's so hard to understand? people continue to argue over what the "true" bitcoin is, and guess what, 2 of them (jihan and roger), have major influence over the bitcoin market. with centralization of that magnitude, it's no wonder people are abandoning it, yet your idealistic views of a world without government is what's hurting you.

ps. ripple has a clear decentralization strategy, to which ultimately no one entity will operate the majority of nodes (with an end game of ripple operating 0). i know, you clearly forgot to mention that... i could care less about people "attacking my investments", i care more about the integrity of real information, not obvious propaganda from people like you who are a cancerous growth within crypto.
