Re: GetBitcoin's New Cash Deposits, In Partnership With BitInstant
by

Hey everyone. To make it clear, we indeed experienced a serious problem with bounced checks last week. We notified our customers as soon as we knew that the checks were going to bounce, which was unfortunately some time after the account had already been frozen for unknown reasons (Chase froze the account without notifying us). We then found alternate ways of paying back all of the customers who had their checks bounced; at this point, almost all the funds have been returned. We are, of course, terribly sorry about this, and we have stopped doing business with Chase and with all big banks generally (their customer service sucks).

Since the problem was on our end, we refunded all of people's fees along with their order money, and we paid for the additional postage and such out-of-pocket. We are also happy to compensate people for bounced check fees, but (to my knowledge) no one has asked so far, although it's entirely possible I've missed something. To Confounded Bridge, and anyone else affected by this issue: if you experienced bounced check fees, contact us at admin@get-bitcoin.com with your order number, and we will refund them for you. (We have always been happy to do so, and I'll go over our support system again and see if there's anyone who did ask and was missed.)

GetBitcoin's New Cash Deposits, In Partnership With BitInstant
by
getbitcoin
on 26/05/2012, 01:02:31 UTC
GetBitcoin is proud to announce our new cash deposit service, provided in partnership with BitInstant and Coinapult. BitInstant's cash deposit program, launched earlier this week, will allow our customers to get Bitcoins from cash deposits at more than 700,000 locations. In addition to Bank of America and Chase, we now support cash deposit at Citibank, Wells Fargo, Walmart, MoneyGram, 7-11 and CVS. Cash deposit will become even faster - since order fulfillment is automated, orders will be fulfilled within an hour of depositing cash. And this new service comes with the same low 5% fees our customers have come to expect. For more information, feel free to contact us at support@get-bitcoin.com.

Hey everyone. Two big new changes we're making, starting today:

 - As some of you might have noticed, our customer service is slower than it used to be. We are, simply put, victims of our own success, and have had too many customers every day to deal with things as timely as we'd like to. So, we're bringing on two new full-time customer service people to deal with the load. This means that, as soon as we've gotten things up and running this week, emails to customer support, invoices for ACH payments, and confirmation of cash deposits should take minutes rather than hours during the business day. You can contact our new support people at support@get-bitcoin.com.

 - We've re-added Western Union as a form of payment. As this thread testifies, we've had problems with this in the past, so we've taken measures to ensure that payments are processed as soon as possible and within our 24-hour guarantee. Please do let us know if you've had any issues with our Western Union or other services.

@Mushroomized: Sorry for the delay - no one posted on this thread for a while, so we stopped checking it very frequently.

Regarding the Western Union issues, we definitely screwed up there, and a number of customers had their payments delayed for a few days. We've refunded everyone who paid us through Western Union that week as compensation for the screw-up. We'll add Western Union again eventually, but probably not for a few more weeks - we want to make absolutely sure we do it right this time.

Regarding SEPA payments, we started accepting those a few weeks ago, and (as far as I know) not one has been delayed more than twelve hours or so from the time the transfer came through.

Hey there. Sorry about that - we send people invoices via Bank of America and Chase, but sometimes they act up and stuff doesn't get sent out or gets delayed, and we have to re-send the invoice. (We're working on a better system now, hope to have that done by next week.) Could you send us your order number? We can probably just re-send the invoice if something went wrong the first time.

Do you have a good reason to believe that those BoA's "direct bank account transfers" are irreversible?

ACH transfers are fairly difficult to reverse, although not completely impossible. Dwolla uses ACH, and MtGox and many other Bitcoin exchanges use Dwolla without much of a problem.

New Bitcoin Payment Method: Direct Transfer from Bank Account
by
getbitcoin
on 29/10/2011, 01:33:35 UTC
Hey everyone. We at Get-Bitcoin.Com are proud to announce a new payment method: direct transfer from any US bank account. Unlike bank wires, direct bank transfer is free! And unlike depositing cash, it can be done from your computer, without needing to visit a physical bank branch. Just make an order at get-bitcoin.com, and select "My Bank Account" as the payment method. We'll send an invoice to your email address that day, with directions on how to transfer the funds.

The only downside is that the direct bank account transfer can take several days to clear. However, it can also be cleared the next day, for a small additional fee of $2. (For those in-the-know, the transfer is conducted via ACH.)

We've also started accepting cash deposits to our Bank of America account, at any BofA bank branch. Hopefully, this will help some of those affected by the closure of exchb.com. We're planning on adding Chase and a few other banks next week.

Two of our Bitcoin withdrawals were also not sent today. To MtGox: What the bloody heck is going wrong over there? If this happens again, you aren't going to have any customers.

Preferred payment methods
by
getbitcoin
on 28/10/2011, 02:39:17 UTC
Hey guys. We were wondering - what payment methods does everyone prefer for their Bitcoins? We all know about:

 - Credit/debit cards
 - Cash
 - MoneyPak
 - Western Union
 - Check
 - Bank wire
 - PayPal

But are there any others that people use, or would like to use? Suggestions may be added to our website at get-bitcoin.com.

Wanted: Long-term BTC purchase contract with mining company
by
getbitcoin
on 10/10/2011, 02:36:15 UTC
Hey all. We are looking for a long-term contract with a Bitcoin mining company, to purchase BTC using USD. We seek to purchase $1,000 USD worth of Bitcoin daily, including Sundays and holidays, to continue indefinitely, with the price for each day's purchase determined by the last MtGox price at 12:30:00 UTC of that day. Payment will be via Dwolla, and the money shall be sent daily no later than 16:00 UTC, with the Bitcoins being delivered to us no later than 20:00 UTC. The contract shall be cancelable by either party on demand, with 24 hours' notice.

By selling Bitcoin directly to us, you will save a huge amount of money by avoiding exchange fees, as well as what's known as "market impact" - at 0.5% apiece, you'll save some $4,000 USD over a year's worth of mining. If you're interested, please both reply to this thread and contact us at admin@get-bitcoin.com. Serious inquiries from established players only!

Do NOT use MtGox, they have NO customer service AT ALL
by
getbitcoin
on 10/10/2011, 01:53:00 UTC
Dear Bitcoiners:

For the first few months of our existence, we happily used MtGox as our Bitcoin trading platform of choice. Except for, ah, getting hacked, it seemed to work fairly well.

But then we got big, and we couldn't move money or Bitcoin out of our account, because of MtGox's withdrawal limits. We emailed them asking for them to increase the limits, which they said they would do. Waited one week, no response. Waited two weeks, no response. Waited four weeks, no response. They didn't request verification. They just remained totally silent.

It's now been five full weeks since we first emailed them. We've tried contacting them at five different email addresses - we've never gotten one single response from any of them. We are a company that has placed over $20,000 - twenty thousand US dollars - on deposit with MtGox through Dwolla and wire transfer. That's more than an entire year's salary for a lot of people. And they can't even be bothered to respond to a single email?! Not even to say "no, we're not raising your limit"? Not even to say "sorry, we need more information on you guys"?

Do not use MtGox. Because sooner or later, they'll get hacked again, and when that happens, you will never get any assistance from them, no matter how good of a customer you are or how much money you lost. The balance in your account will just mysteriously drop to "zero", and you'll never hear a single word of explanation.

@Nefanon: We use Google Analytics to track how many people come to our site; is that what you're referring to? (Google Analytics does not collect IP addresses or other personal information, just things like how long an average visitor stays on the site.) I'm not sure how that makes us a scam... Google Analytics is used by 57% of the Internet's most popular websites, including Twitter and MySpace.

You can request any daily limit you want. My daily limit is 20,000 BTC. It used to be 100 BTC. What I did was simple. I sent an email in info@mtgox.com and requested to new amount. Done!

When was that? We've emailed them five times over the last month, and sent government-issued photo ID twice, to increase our BTC withdrawal limit. They've completely ignored us. And we're a company that has deposited tens of thousands of USD into MtGox.

So I'm a little wary of the lack of reviews. I'd like to make a large buy but am not sure if that's a good idea.

Most of our traffic comes directly from weusecoins.com, en.bitcoin.it, etc., so most of our customers aren't Bitcoin forum users. However, I'm proud to say that we're now processing over $10,000 USD in Bitcoin orders a week, and we've never had even a single accusation of fraud. Hopefully next month we'll get an accountant to audit that, so people will believe us. (If anyone knows a good accountant, email us at admin@get-bitcoin.com.) In the meantime, for what it's worth, we've been endorsed by weusecoins.com, and we're good friends with the guys over at bitbills.com if you want to ask them.

So how long do you store orders? If I wanted to buy 100 btc at $1 will you queue that until it's available?

If the market price is above a maximum, we just email the buyer and ask. It's worked pretty well so far

How fast do you think MoneyPak purchases usually take?

Payment via MoneyPak is considered instant, as the funds can be cleared immediately. So, we'll send you the Bitcoins within 24 hours of receiving your MoneyPak number, or our services are free.

Only problem is that it looks like you have to mail the MP card to them, whereas the other 2 exchanges I mentioned only required you send them the scratch off code, which is much faster.

Hey Ain - we required that for the first week, to make sure we weren't getting scammed, but have since stopped requiring it. Once you've placed your order, you can just email your MoneyPak code to support@get-bitcoin.com, and we'll process your order ASAP.
