I don't think the price fluctuation would effect gambling decisions as a whole very much. Most sites don't even display a fiat value when placing bets. All the gamblers see is their bet, denominated in BTC, so in their minds 1 BTC equals 1 BTC. If people placed bets in fiat value it would be a different story.

No dont send from exchange, the reason is because you wont get back to the address you sent from.The poloniex withdraw account is not the same as your deposit account.
What you need to do is create an online walet, and send your ether there, and from there you have to deposit:

Its pretty easy to use, just always invest from your own controlled wallet, never an exchange. Good luck!
