Re: Does your country knows about cock fighting betting?

I think that Spaniards were the people to influence us with cock fighting. Yes in the Philippines, cock fighting is a common betting game in my country. There's even a TV network that broadcast cockfights.

Oh wow, a channel actually broadcast it.  Does this mean that it is actually legal?  I ask simply out of curiosity.

I've heard, seen and read about cock fighting. It is absolutely illegal here in the UK and thank goodness for that.  Frankly speaking, its babaric IMO, pitting helpless cocks against each other all for the cheap fun of some.  I'm totally against any/all kinds of animal fight games for the fun of humans.  To me, its the same or at least similar category as those who kill animals (GAME) for the fun of it.

Re: Who's your favorite to win this year's Champions League ?

Actually, it will make a nice sentimental story if Juve or ManU were to win.   Juve, not only because they would deserve it, but also C7's move from real to Juve and then wining the CL again with them.  The return of Solsjkaer to ManU as a manager, also having won the CL with the club as a player.

I'm afraid that Barcelona might win it yet again, it seems that Messi and Suarez have hit form again just in the right time towards the end of the CL and their domestic leagues.  Time will tell.  Whoever win, would be worthy champions IMO.

I thank God for the intervention of friends who called my attention to it that I was gradually on the way to addition,  that was when I stepped down. I think greed is really bad for gambling

Oh wow, that's a positive and interesting point turn of events to what could have easily gone the other way as well.  With the right support system, some do get the chance to step back and change course.  Recently here in the U.K, there is talk of changes to the laws on fixed-odds betting.  Which is like a massive problem here and in other countries i imagine.  Funny enough, not everyone is happy with the change in law whereby maximum stake on fixed odd betting terminals is now £2.  Apparently those terminals generate over £400 million in taxes alone  Huh Huh for the government.

Definitely similar sources to me.  I find that my gambling capital usually comes around festivities and celebrations.  So much so that many of my friends and families are aware that i much prefer gift cards or good old money sent to my account.  For me, these are bonuses which i don't feel too attached to which i can then use in my gambling fun.

These are all good points but it's hard to keep up and follow, this because in the back of our minds, there is a thought that must strike while the iron is still hot, and there's always a tendency to get back what you lose in the previous, it just goes on and on until you become addicted.

Very true indeed.   To an extent, our individuality plays a big role in how we handle the 'play for fun' narrative.   If i should use myself as an example, i get easily excited but not so easily discouraged.   I find in most cases, the means if i win a bet, i'm likely to go even bigger (dangerous i know) whereas, if i lose, there is that feeling of 'i'll win the next one', and then it just goes on and on like you say.

Even though i know 'walking away' is a very important aspect in gambling, i feel it is perhaps the most difficult one.

Re: Digital options - Gambling or trading?

Ive seen this option on Bet365 and a few other sportsbooks and they are similar to day trading I feel. I used to bet on it a couple of years ago but it is hard to predict generally speaking. I'd say Dice is easier and has better value in gambling digital options.

I share your sentiments actually.  Indeed, Bet365 was infact the first place i saw it also.  For me, the Turbo mode option is quite scary, i'm not a seasoned gambler or trader.  The way i see it, its much more a gambling on an off chance of being correct within such short time frame.

Digital options - Gambling or trading?
by

I think many gamblers alike will agree with me that gambling can be exciting most of the time.   The joy and satisfaction you feel when you call it right is amazing.  Its funny though that society frowns so much at gambling even though like most things in life, its just risk management.  Like any other investment type, there is potential to lose it all because in the end, it still gambling.  Just with varying risk levels.

Although a relatively new form of trading (Apparently), digital options is fast becoming popular due apparently to its simplicity.   A simple choice of choosing that a stock, commodity or currency will go high or low in its value over a specific time frame.    There is also a fast (turbo) mode with around 30 seconds expiration time with potential returns of as much as 90%.   Question is, how is that still trading if you can't be sure of what might or will happen in that short time frame?

Safe to say we humans can be very greedy  Grin.  Admittedly, increased risks come with potentially higher returns which is what attracts many of us.  Funny thing is that we all gamble one way or the other.  Some better at it than others.  Smart gamblers/traders tend to assess their losses to see how they can improve.

IMO, digital options is a type of gambling but then again what isn't?

Indeed its interesting to know how he managed this.   But i think its fair to say that the powers that be in this world must surely know who he is.  Although has to be said, not many people would create such revolutionary concept and tech and not want to be our there basking in the accolades and applauds that would come with it.  A very impressive human, not like most of us  Cheesy

For most people (myself included), gambling at online casino's is a harmless pass time fun activity, but of course it can become a problem for many.   IMO, to lessen the risk of becoming a problem gambler, there are certain things i bear in mind such as,
  • Gambling for Fun - Not to Win Money  Smiley
  • Setting myself a gambling goal
  • I Bet small  (don't blow all your money at once)
  • I practice gambling with friends  Grin
  • Set time limits and walk away  Roll Eyes

Many of these are easier said than done of course but it might be worth noting.   Online gambling is probably the best thing to happen since sliced bread  Huh and i'm not saying these points could or would work for everyone but they might help in enjoying gambling in a healthy, financially sensible way.

I'm interested to know how you keep tabs and control on your gambling to make sure that one does not become a compulsive gambler or problem gambler.

OP is spot on.  Never ceases to surprise me how and why people can expect a kind of non-stop, indefinite bull run.   Bear markets is essentially a fundamental part of the cycle.   More so in crypto because it still is in its infancy, despite the fact its been going on for a while.  The fact its not widely adopted yet or that the apples, the amazons or silicon valley folks of this world haven't adopted it means a much more slower evolution of blockchain tech, consequently the viability or feasibility.   I have read many horror stories of folks who have lost their homes, investing in bitcoin with quick returns of huge profits.  This attitude has to change.

Investing in BTC may seem like an attractive option in these markets i guess but IMO, if you DYOR + with a stroke of luck, the way to go is to invest in credible alt projects for the simple fact that there is a chance of much higher returns (equally could be a total loss) compared to the potential returns if you the investment in BTC is a small one.
One thing you must not do is to take recommendations about what to invest in or when as everyone has their own motives and rationale for giving advice.

Giving up is often the easiest option for some but usually a wrong option and frankly it is non existent for me.   2018 for devastating for my portfolio but 2019 so far has been a little more stable, so somewhat recovering gradually.  As for what the SEC says, i take it with pinch of salt, IMO its done nothing for crypto but add to the uncertainties.

Good riddance to ICO's IMO.  Far too many of them were either outright scams or fell by the way side due to team losing focus being overwhelmed by the amount of funds they raised.  I was never a big fan of ICO's tbh but i suppose will say there are still opportunities there, and rightly so if you are a shrude kind of business guy.   However, for guys who believe in all the dodgy use cases, their money just get taken.

Well what do you know  Grin.  IMO its mainly whales, investors and corporations controlling the market.  Many conventional corporations would like us all to believe that they are resistant to bitcoin but actually, they have been accumulating for quite some time for the very purpose of being able to control the market.  Crypto is fast becoming a game of the have's and have not's.   Its the little guys who end being the losers eventually.

Re: Who would actually believe celebs promoting crypto?
by

I for one certainly would not.  Far as i'm concerned, celebrities seldom promote anything they strongly believe in, either because its not worth their time, fear of being criticized or not wanting to be affiliated with it.   In most cases, they promote only things that they get paid to promote.  IMO, its the one thing that crypto doesn't need.

Re: Banking is Dead… Long live Blockchain Banking!

Indeed, banking as we know it is not sustainable.  Naturally, those of us involved in crypto would hope that blockchain tech is the answer or the next big innovative tech to fill the space.  I am a little skeptical, yes digital is the way forward, i'm just not certain that the 'powers that be' would accommodate cyrpto in the way that we all want it, decentralized.  A fundamental factor in about banking today is governance and control, crytpo in a sense seeks to disrupt that therefore they might continue to frown at the concept and look at other digital methods.

Re: What makes you sure about next year?
by
llyfee4u
on 08/12/2018, 19:29:56 UTC
The simple answers is 'nothing'.  Absolutely nothing gives me confidence that things would be different next year.  Although there really is no reason why things can't recover, if the big boys would stop playing games and controlling the market.  More importantly though, like with anything in life, do not gamble/invest what you can't afford to lose.  Upon investment, your money is as good as gone, if you make a decent return then lucky you but it can also go the opposite, which is what has happened to many this year.
