Re: Blockfi - Any reviews or pointers ?

The biggest risks in my opinion, is black swan events(sudden huge BTC price crashes, hence your funds potentially being liquidated through a margin call)

That's what I don't quite get about this whole thing. Humongous liquidations must've happened countless times since this was launched. That's what happens to traders. I can't see how Blockfi's selection of traders would be any better than any other ones.

They must either have massive collateral or tiny positions or Blockfi dictate how much they can risk. It's all a bit murky.

Yeah, that's my question as well. I hope someone who is more knowledgeable would post something.

Re: Which Stable coin is the Best for Investment This Year

I don't get what the OP means . The name stable coin says that they are stable with some form of Fiat mostly USD . So you are not getting anything by investing in stable coins.

lol, your post got me cracking Grin, i guess the op is not fully aware about the nature of stable coins or he must misinterpret what he meant, whatever the case maybe, it has been said already, stable coins are not for investment rather they are mostly for preserving what you have, i think op needs to go back and do some more reading or we need to do some more reading. Cheesy

I was stunned when I read that post. I was just skimming through to see what the comments were. You hit it right on the head.

I think stable coins are an ok place to place a minor amount of money. It helps the general ecosystem.  But unless you're getting a good return  - it's not an investment.

Question regarding which alt-tech site to financially support
by
mayo2u
on 24/01/2021, 19:30:24 UTC
Background

I've been migrating away from big tech.

I'm active on

  • Protonmail (a gmail alternative)
  • Minds (a facebook alternative)
  • Gab (a twitter alternative)
  • bitchute (youtube alternative)

All of these sites have upgrades that serve two purposes. One, you get more features, and second you support the alt-tech sites.

I have a limited amount of money that I'm prepared to donate.

TL/DR

Does anyone have suggestions / recommendations / reasons for financially supporting one alt-tech platforms over another?

Well, 2 Factor authority dose not help to being unsuspended. 2 factor and suspended reason both are totally different. This 2 factor use for a another kind of password for your account means a second password which is impossible to hack because every 30 second it change so if you have the code only you can access your account. So it added to more secure your account so that others can not hack or access your account.  But account suspend is a fully different topic because your account have to be spam free you have to follow twitter rules to post or work in twitter. Otherwise they will suspend your account its normal. So first try to read rules carefully

That's true on the surface, and it makes sense. But there is also a serious deplatforming effort going on. One reason for this (in addition to the legitimate reasons) is that Twitter wants to prevent those already deplatformed from coming back under a new name.

And, they don't want any competition. Parler has been brought down (they probably will be able to rebuild) so Gab is the only alternative.

Gab has seen massive usage in the last few weeks. It's now slow as sh!t (even though they're constantly adding new servers).

Re: Are you a citizen of the world?
by

on 24/01/2021, 15:58:29 UTC
Out of curiosity, how many people here have:
1. Current Passport allowing them to travel outside of their country
2. Financial means to travel outside of their country
3. Time to travel outside of their country (free time away from work)
4. Desire to travel outside of their country

I will start:
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. No - not enough free time lately
4. Yes

What does this have to do with being a "citizen of the world?"

I have the same answers as you but that doesn't make me a citizen of the world.  Each, and every time, you go to another country (that's much different than yours) you realize that you are not a citizen of the world. Except in the broadest of senses that we're all people and that if we all abide by a simple social contract

I promise not to kill you and take your stuff if
you promise not to kill me and take my stuff.

These?

https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/cardano#ratings

They are provided by TokenInsight, which can be paid to give a project some extra points and biased view. Better to do your own research.

Thank you. That's what I feared.

As a follow up - "how" does one do research? All I can think of is

  • to do a google - strike that, DDG search Smiley on the exchange looking for complaints
ask around on forums such as this.

Do you have a list of sites that review exchanges which you trust?

How reliable to you find the coingecko trust score? I'm looking to purchase minor coins

What do you think about this suspend?
I think this is not a suspend, but a complete blocking. I have the same story. No matter how much I tried to confirm my data, everything is useless. I can't understand why they blocked me? Created a new account. Now I'm afraid to work with him.

Twitter is going through a massive purge. It is not simply political censorship - but censorship of any news that conflicts with their view. I'm really not certain who "they" are. Or what "their" view is. And that's because Twitter's TOS is selectively enforced and changes to the TOS are made frequently.

I had friends from South Asia talking about Hydroxychloroquine and had their accts blocked. They weren't advocating it; prescribing it; just discussing it. (I was lurking).

Arweave - is anyone familiar with this
by
mayo2u
on 24/01/2021, 03:57:46 UTC

Arweave.org states that it "stores data on the permaweb for free"

From the website:

Quote
Arweave web archiver and wallet.
Permanently archive web pages and PDFs on a blockchain!

30% of web links break within 2 years!
With Arweave you can be sure a page archived today will remain the same forever.
No more link rot or 404 ‘page not found’ errors!

Ok, so far so good. I'm very interested in a permaweb (so to speak).

Has anyone used it?

Do you like it?

One negative perception I have of it is that one must use google to log in and you use a google plugin. WTF!

Re: 25th Amendment after Trump supporters riot in the Capital
by
mayo2u
on 14/01/2021, 03:27:10 UTC

If Trump decides to set up a new party, let's say "American People's Party" (members will be called Americans, LOL)

There's no chance he would allow it to be named anything that didn't include "Trump".

I think your underestimating how divided the Democrats are though.  It's not all that different from the Republicans right now.  The moderate Dems and Republicans could end up being the third party, especially with Biden in charge.

The Trump party would be middle of the road. Trump is more of a 1990s Democrat than a Republican. His support is largely from the industrial workers that used to be Democrat until the Democratic Party abandoned them.

What are Trump's positions: Bring the industrial base back home; don't be involved in foreign intervention; and secure the borders.

His position does not attract the global capitalist aspect of either the Democratic or Republican Party.

Pretty sure a ham sandwich could beat Trump at this point. I didn't bother to hold my nose and vote for Hillary (she was a shoe-in where I lived anyway), but I can certainly do so for Biden. I think a lot of people who didn't vote for Hildog last time are of a similar mindset. We'll see. Not looking forward to the debates.

And I'm pretty sure it's going to be an easy Trump victory. You didn't bother giving reasons as to why you thought a ham sandwich would win so I'm not going to bother to reply why I think Trump expands his electoral map.

I mean, if we can elect two presidents (the Bush's) knowing that their father/grandfather (Prescott Bush - https://www.theguardian.com/world/2004/sep/25/usa.secondworldwar) supported Hitler in WW2 in a big way, who cares which of these two peons (Sanders, Biden) gets into office? It's American stupidity that makes Americans even think about such crooks as Sanders and Biden.

Cool

And yet his son almost dies fighting in that war. Really?

It's not what you don't know that fucks with you. It's what you know that ain't so that simply messes with your thinking.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
by

So there was Hitler, born in Austria, infected almost the whole of Europe.
Today there is Tyrol, infecting half of Europe with SARS-CoV-2.

Sad but true, people infected in Italy, working in the ski resorts and apres ski bars of Tyrol (Austria), infecting other staff, in turn infecting many europeans on vacation.
Turns out as one of the main hubs for spreading the virus. Iceland warned first, after a group of skiers went sick right after flyingo home. Tyrol's officials tried to calm everybody down, said they must have been infected at airports. This was about two weeks ago. Today they closed down, were quarantined last friday. Tried to contact 500+ of known tourists so far, out of many more. They all returned home within the last few weeks, to sweden, norway, germany, netherlands, france, spain...
I feel ashamed.

EDIT: And angry.

Comparing sick employees with Hitler? I really don't see the comparison.

Youre all taking the mental and physical stances as if someone's physicality has high significance and is the only thing we should rely on, if you want to "inspect" everyone you have quite a problem...

To be honest, unless you're hoping to start an eros relationship with them you don't really have much of a need to know what organs they got... IMO.

I don't think it really matters what gender you are or what gender you want to be, you can still be considered whatever you want as long as it doesn't harm anyone... Men and women have entirely different mental states to start with and I'd put your brain above your dna

And if I feel like I'm 20 does it make me 20? If I feel like I'm 70 does it make me 70? And more importantly must other people accept the "fact" that I'm 20 or 70? And is the government required to give me Social Security if I identify as 70?

The answer to all those is no. The same is true for any "mental state". You want to be a woman? Fine. But if you born with a dick you're not. You can put on a dress, change your name but you're still a man.

Does that mean that you should be imprisoned, physically assaulted or ridiculed? No. Of course not. But wanting to be a woman doesn't make you one.

It's this foolishness that is going to end the "cultural revolution" in which we find ourselves. Good riddance to this foolishness.

since america is an island that gives a damn about the rest of the world and only seeks to take advantage of the rest of the world, the rest of the world shouldn't really care.

Roughly one quarter of Americans are first or second generation immigrants. Are you saying that this group of individuals are not concerned about the rest of the world? And there are MANY third generation Americans (Irish, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Korean, etc... who also give a damn about the rest of the world.

Americans do care about the rest of the world - or more particularly - parts of the rest of the world. Does the average Russian or Chinese or Indian citizen really give a damn about what happens in Suriname or Ghana or Canada? I would guess the wouldn't care anymore than the average American (unless they came from Suriname or Ghana or a neighboring country).

If Bernie isn't elected then it's Trump again, 100% sure.

I think Bernie has far less of a chance than does Biden / Hillary / Michelle / Bloomberg / etc...

His appeal was based on him being for labor and borders and wasn't into identity politics.

He's backtracked completely on immigration.

He's backtracked on the Second Amendment (goodbye Michigan and Pennsylvania)

And he's accepted identity politics as opposed to sticking with the traditional socialist dichotomy of workers and capital.

We know he will lose the suburbs so if he doesn't make HUGE inroads in capturing labor then fuggedaboutit.

By abandoning his position on borders / immigration to capture the woke left he's lost his appeal with labor Dems. Now add to the fact that this isn't 2016 when you didn't know for sure what Trump would do. What has Trump done? He's gone hard into the border. The left has blasted him for this and he's kept to his guns. You think labor is going to switch back to Bernie after this? Fuk no.

Bernie is toast. But I'm rooting for him to break up the Democrat party. I've long thought that it would be the Republican party that would break up first but now it looks as if it may be the Dems. So GOOO BERNIEEEE!!!

No way the Democratic Party will let Bernie be the nomination.  It was no coincidence that when Sanders started to pull away from the pack the more moderates drop out and endorse Biden.

If the voters wanted Bernie he would have won more votes. The Bernie / Warren / Kamala wing topped out at about 40% of the Democratic vote (see polls going back a year).

And once the average voter saw that Sanders had a chance they coalesced around Biden. Biden would be a poor candidate even if he was mentally all there (which he isn't) but the party - and the average Dem voters - thought Biden was preferable to Bernie.

I was hoping for a contested convention so I'm a little disappointed. But, there it is.

Describe what is women to your kids under ten(10) word counts. Don’t write a wall of text or I will remove them.

The children know the difference. You need to be "educated" to not realize the difference between boys and girls / men and women.

We're at peak stupidity and it will be over soon. The trans issue is what is ending this "cultural revolution." Soon it will be in the dust bin of history along with the The Terror of the French Revolution and the Chinese Cultural Revolution of the 1960s.
