YoBit's LCC Wallet has been offline for a couple of days.

Does anyone know if YoBit will come back up? I was going to play with mining some LCC, but need a wallet address first.

Is the only way to get a wallet to download and run the desktop or mobile wallet? If you do that, do you have to download the entire 16GB or so blockchain?

Thanks!

I have tried twice to mine on Aika Pool, once with Dogecoin and now with Verge. I get zero hashrate. I am using an Antminer L3+ and carefully input the Stratum address, my Worker and Password. Nothing.

When I set up Litecoinpool, it worked right away. Very odd for a pool to be set up like Aika is. I will try Multipool and ProHashing next to see if I can get any response from them.

Genesis - Mining Altcoins
by

I have 5 TH/s of BTC Mining at Genesis. It is going well. And, running the calculations, I am getting higher payouts than what I would be getting with a 5 TH/s hashrate. So, that's good!

With LTC going up, I thought I would try setting my Mining Allocation to full LTC. At Genesis, it is called "LTC (Auto)." I'm not sure if the "Auto" means something in particular. But, at Geneis, you are kind of flying blind. I have an Antminer L3+, and mine on Litecoinpool. So, you can precisely see what your hashrate is, what you are earning, when your payout threshold is, etc.

Well, with my setting LTC (Auto) to "100" I was told I am mining LTC at the same 5 TH/s. Now, that would be something! So, how could I not try it? ;-) That would mean getting 10 times the power of my L3+, and receiving close to 1 LTC a day at current difficulty.

You can guess pretty easily that isn't what I got! I calculate a weekly return of 0.299 LTC. At current difficulty, that would mean a hashrate of around 300 MH/s.

I calculate the yield difference this way: At 100% BTC: 0.0075/week or $134.73 USD/week. At 100% LTC: 0.299/week or $90.86 USD/week.

Question to all of you: Is this pretty much the way it is on Genesis? Even if it says something wild like 5 TH/s in altcoin, you will be getting a small fraction of that?

same here my only issue is the dust my revisible exhuadt fans bring in
so anoying having to dust every day

My thought would be to find air filter material, cut it into squares the size of your intake fan, and put that filter material on the back of that intake fan.

A problem with an Antminer is that you would have to disassemble it to have a chance at cleaning dust from inside. And, with all those thin heatsinks, it wouldn't be easy. So, stopping dust from going into the miner would be a good preventive measure.

My S9 is a September batch, and I don't think they like to run warm. Or they still like to run warm?

Highly unlikely that they like to run warm. That is why they have specs that allow them to run as low as 0°C, but want to be run at no more than 40°C. Computer processors and similar chips, such as CPU's, GPU's and Antminer's ASIC chips, run better when it's cooler. The fans run in proportion to the heat inside the miner. So, you will, at least, be paying less in electricity with the lower fan speeds. And, my thought is that power usage should be lower if the chips aren't having to work as hard in higher temperatures.

It would be interesting to see if miner users have charted power usage in relation to operating temperature.

The trick is to keep the Antminer within specs. And, 0°C is the floor for Operating Temperature. I am considering the installation of electrical outlets in my garage so I can run my L3+, and my upcoming S9, in the garage during the winter.

My garage's temperatures are not likely to fall below 0°C. And, I will have to find somewhere else for them when winter is over. But, you still have to be careful of moisture and dust. My miners would be near the far wall, away from the garage door.

I think most miners understand, but if you are new to running these machines, the area where you have your miners should be clean and free of dust, and not be in an area where dust could be coming in. You also need good air flow, which I think most miners understand.

Otherwise, reading Bitmain's specs is important. Bitmain very likely has good reasons for specifying the specs that they do.

Answer: View the Antminer S9's specs: "Operating Temperature: 0°C to 40°C"

https://shop.bitmain.com/antminer_s9_asic_bitcoin_miner.htm?flag=specifications

I admire your adventurousness. Smiley But, all Antminer owners really should carefully read the specs for their equipment. There are likely very specific reasons why Bitmain specifies these specs. So, operating in any temperature below freezing is likely, to very likely, have adverse or even damaging effects to your equipment.

Hashrate Difference
by
millerfilm
on 09/12/2017, 04:25:53 UTC
I have been running a new Antminer L3+ for two weeks. It has been running right to spec the entire time.

My question: My Antminer control panel has been consistently showing 502 MH/s with very little variation. But, on my Litecoinpool Account page, the hashrate can vary +/- 50 MH/s.

What would be your opinion on why there would be this difference? I am running only Litecoinpool, and no other pool on my Antminer.

I have restarted my miner twice over the past 20 hours and it made no difference.

Do you think that it is because Litecoinpool is using some calculation to guess what my miner's hashrate is, instead of knowing what it is?

Thank you, in advance, for your help with this! I do appreciate it.

Antminer L3+ Underclocking
by
millerfilm
on 03/12/2017, 06:11:40 UTC
I have been running my new Antminer L3+ for close to two days. All is going well.

I am working on getting a permanent place to put this and the S9 miner that has been ordered. Currently, when I am home, I have a window open enough to let cool air into the room where I am running the L3+. But, when I have to close the window, and put the alarm on, it of course gets warm in there.

So, at those times when I need to close the window, and until I have the permanent place for the miner, I would like to underclock the L3+. I see the settings for Frequency under the Antminer's Settings. It is set to the default, 384M. To make sure that I am understanding this correctly, going up in number, like 400M, 425M, etc. would overclock. So, going down, like 362M, 344M, etc. would underclock the miner.

Am I correct with this? And, if underclocking, is that okay with the Antminer warranty? I know that overclocking voids the warranty.

If underclocking is okay, are there optimal frequencies to use? And, does anyone know if there is a chart, or guidance, that would give me an idea what the relation would be between L3+ Frequency and Hashrate?

My L3+ is performing to spec. The default 384M is producing 504 MH/s, fans running at 2,100 RPM with the windows open, 2,400 RPM with the windows closed, and internal temp of around 49 degrees windows open, and 55 degrees windows closed.

My target is to underclock so that I get the fan speed and internal temp with the windows closed to be no more than when the windows are open.

Thank you very much, in advance, for your help with this!

Re: Merged Mining

Since I saw no indication of other coins, like Dogecoin, I didn't know how it worked.
Just for the record, Dogecoin is mentioned both on the homepage, where the reward system is explained, and in the first post of this thread.

One thing is that I would like some variety, and not only mine Litecoin. Can you offer some suggestions as to how I would go about doing that?
Well, consider that with merged mining you are mining more than just Litecoin. If what you mean is that you don't want to be mining Litecoin all the time, or that you would like to receive payouts in something other than litecoins without going through an exchange, then I'm afraid you'll have to look for another pool.

My impression is that you would add a pool in the Antminer "Miner General Configuration" that offers different scrypt coins to mine. Then, you would configure what you mine on that pool's site.
You probably want a profit-switching pool then. By the way, keep in mind that even though you can enter 3 addresses in an Antminer's configuration panel, the miner will only be using one at a time, and the second and third addresses will only be used if the miner can't connect to the first one. (Maybe you already knew this, but I'm also mentioning it for future readers.)

I know that Internet forums are all about "gotchas." But, I was talking about the My Account section on Litecoinpool. There is no mention of Dogecoin.

I just thought it would be fun to have a variety of coins. No other reason, really. But, I certainly appreciate the pool giving out 101%. And, Litecoin is a better currency to have, anyway. I don't know how their pool compares to others on a practical basis when it comes to payouts. But, with Litecoin, I don't see other options that have been reviewed as being that great. ProHashing seems to be having problems because it sounds like they don't have the people they need to keep it going as well as they could. And, they stopped taking new registrants, anyway.

So, Litecoinpool is likely the best option for me.

ProHashing isn't taking new users. This is the message you get when you try to register: "The maximum number of users (20000) has been reached. We hope to open the pool to more users in the future."

No, the output of merged mining also contributes to miners' rewards (otherwise how could the pool pay 101% PPS?), but rather than having a complex system with payouts on 7 different chains all payouts are made in litecoins.

Okay, I was wondering about the 101%. Since I saw no indication of other coins, like Dogecoin, I didn't know how it worked.

I thought about adding ProHashing. But, they are full up and are not taking new users.

[...] Thanks to merged mining, a technique that allows multiple cryptocurrencies to be mined simultaneously, it is possible to achieve PPS ratios higher than 100%. [...]

So, does that mean that, in lieu of my paying a pool fee for using litecoinpool, they merge mine and keep the Dogecoin, etc. for themselves?

Thank you for your replies and your help!

Merged Mining

I just got my Antminer L3+ up and running this morning. And, I am hashing away on Litecoinpool.

My question: I saw the first post that talked about the ability to do merged mining. I was wondering how that worked. I do not see an option for it on my Litecoinpool account page. And, I do not see an option in my Antminer configuration.

Could someone help me out with this? Is it possible to get Dogecoin, etc. while mining on Litecoinpool? And, is it possible to do merged mining with an L3+?

Thank you, in advance, for your help!

No. Don't blame MyEtherWallet.
because MyEtherWallet always Warns you about to check the Spelling of the Website/Link/address
before inputing your private keys.
maybe you just accessed your private keys on a phishing Mew site.
it will really hack you..
always bookmark MyEtherWallet because you cannot Trust Google search Engine.
sometimes they give wrong Spelling MEW site..
Their "warnings" are more recent, and were not in place when I got hacked.

I still believe that ever using a Private Key to log in to anything online is very dangerous, and MyEtherWallet should know this. A Private Key is just that, private.

I continue to avoid Ether and ICO's. I believe everyone else should too.

If your etherwallet is hacked , well you must create a new wallet and send all your remaining tokens in your new wallet as soon as possible because if you dont the hacker will definite drain all your tokens and all your effort will be wasted. You must very aware of phising site because that is one of the things why our etherwallet is hacked.

Well, they took everything except 1.6-something BRAT tokens. Once they have hacked it, you either aren't going to know it before it's too late, or it's simply going to be too late.

Putting your coins and tokens in a Hardware Wallet is the best way to go. Especially when it's MyEtherWallet and they don't want to use a reliable security device like Google Authenticator.

Many pishing sites, especially myetherwallet are built up on spelling mistakes (f.e. missing letters). Saw one, that I need to read three times, before I recognized the mistake.

The ACTUAL http://www.myetherwallet.com has its specific security tag in the address bar. Here, in the United States, it is: MYETHERWALLET LLC [US].

Make sure you have a secured website, and make sure that the security tag is correct before proceeding. This follows for any site where you are going to enter important information.

Even though I am not a fan of Ethereum at all, we should not avoid ETH just because a lot of scams happen on it. That is like avoiding Bitcoin or fiat because drug dealers and child pornography use them as payment. The reason so many scams happen on ETH is just that it is so easy to create an ERC20 token. You have people now just selling services, to create a token, whitepaper, logo, signatures and all that in a week.

Well, if I make double the BTC equivalent in ETH from Bitcoin mining, I might consider ETH services again. But, I will always remember getting taken on the ETH platform. Many others certainly have been left with that feeling too.

It would be best for those who founded ETH to spend some of what they've made on coming up with a recognized coalition of technical and financial advisors who could review ICO's and certify the ones they find to be reliable on their whitepapers and claims. That would certainly help in giving more credence to ICO's.
