Do you mean that the NEM installer doesn't work? You need 64 bit Java for that.

I found fault in translation of finnish wallet. Is written "sulje lomakko" when should be written "sulje lompakko". In english "close the wallet" or something.

And this if not already fixed.

I found something fun in welcome message of wallet.

Quote
NCC User Interface translation:
apex, boestin, Chaos514, DIMKAZDS, filchef, freigeist, Guliver, iaminitnow06, Janea4pda, kuppalahti, Lcharles, martismartis, mess-lelouch, Parana, rigel, Shawn, Spider, 楊 輝彦

I thought his name was Kauppalahti. He is a Finnish person. And Finnish word kuppa mean syphilis. Kuppalahti = syphilis bay. kauppalahti = trade bay.

Or am I wrong?

I hope that the code is faultless. Grin

The typos have already been fixed in the Finnish translation (or all typos that I could spot) of NCC. The pull request has been pending for 4 days now, so it should be updated soon, I think Smiley

I also found some typos in the Finnish translation of www.nem.io and they have been fixed too, just waiting for them to be accepted now Smiley

I'm trying to reinstall NEM beta to check the validity of my private key but it doesn't let me as the installer can't detect Java 8 on my system (Windows 7)

I only got Java 8 installed on this system and the Java uninstaller tool couldn't find any old versions of Java on my system.

What should I do?

Any chance you installed the 32bit version of java ?
You need the 64bit version.
It must be it, thanks.

Edit: The client works just fine now and the private key also checked out.

Glad to be on board again.

There are 1400 accounts that are not socks that are probably pretty happy that more socks got kicked out.  Then there are a few people in here screaming that we shouldn't kick out socks.

This isn't true, as each person was allowed to register two accounts, so the number of  unique stakeholders drops. Also, many sock puppet did slip through when they were given AE stakes.  I think the real number of unique  users is less than 500
Well they actually kicked out today the ones who registered two accounts from the same household so it might be higher.

The rule was that 2 stakes could be purchased from a household, one for yourself and one for your family member. That rule never changed, and I agree with you that someone who claims to have bought stakes for 2+ of their family members should have the extra stakes erased. However, only two stakes were purchased from our household and my stake was deleted, which I think is extremely strange considering what the rules are.

Well I'm happy that the socks got kicked, but I'm not happy that I lost my only stake because me and my brother had bought a stake from the same IP and computer. I hope the devs really look through the appeals to spot out the real Nemsters. I can't be the only one in the same situation if the grounds to wipe away a stake were so loose. No wonder such a high percentage of the remaining shareholders lost a stake today.

Wasn't everyone allowed to have two stakes? I bought one for me and my brother, and now my account was kicked. I am very very confused.

I will pursue this legally if there won't be a change regarding my stake.

Kind regards,

NC6J7H-53Q635-G25ON4-OITJXU-3FFH65-HCPZIA-LNTW

contact patmaster with a genuine request to have your stake reinstated.. legal threats are completely and utterly pointless.. who are you going to prosecute? lol
I will contact him and hope for the best. I am sorry for the threat but I'm rather mad about this as I've been watching this thread daily for about a year now and now I get this.

Any particular reason why NCC doesn't launch on Mac anymore? NIS seems to be running just fine.

When I'm trying to launch it, the last line of console just says "INFO: NEM Community Client - NCC 0.3.2-ALPHA shutdown..."

Also, how can I back up my wallet? Would really like to know this before I will receive my 1 million NEM  Smiley Or is it enough if you just remember your wallet name and password?

Search for you "NEM" folder in finder.  You can find subfolders like NIS, NCC, and MON.  If you look in the NCC folder there will be a file called "username.wlt".  I think that this is your wallet.  Copy and paste it somewhere safe.  If you need to reload NEM on a different computer you can past that file in and your coins will be there. (if you still know the same exact password.  they are mated together)

I recently did this on Windows but not Mac, but I think it will be the same process.

Thanks very much. Smiley I'm trying to run NEM on Windows now, but NCC keeps complaining that "NIS info is not avaiable yet. Trying to retrieve NIS info...". It has been like that for over an hour now. I'm using Java 8 and have booted the node, so I don't know anymore what I can do. Hopefully these problems will be solved in Beta.

That means a port in your router is closed, but it shouldn't affect your beta testing.  I had the same problem.  The devs have already announced that they fixed this port issue in the next release.

Post your NEM address here and people will send you coins and then you can send some out.  After 24 hours of coin age you can test harvesting too.

Thank you very much again. I guess I'll wait until beta release then.

Is there any information about how did the closed alpha go on weekend? If I remember correctly, if it went well, there would be an ETA for the open Alpha. Sorry if I remember wrong or have missed the information in the last few posts.

I think that the plan to reserve 25% (of max 10% for developer compensation) for promotion etc. purposes of NEM is way too much. Even 100 million NEM should be enough for this purpose. Reserving that much NEM for the use of so few people seems kinda shady.

And if that much NEM would be reserved for promotion purposes etc. I think every original NEM stakeholder should have an easy way of having a vote on how these NEMs will be used.

Do you think exchanges will add NEM willy nilly ? They'll want bounties and since we'd like to go for more premuim exchanges they'll want A LOT !
When I say premuim exchanges I mean exchanges that don't add every shitcoin that comes around the corner.
I'm saying that the 15% (discounting the max 10% for developers) is a bit too much for that purpose alone. The percentage that goes to the original stakeholders should be more, and the percentage for promotion should be a bit lower. I think that 15% for the use of so few is a distribution problem and would be a problem for NEM.
