This is a very interesting project. Would you be interested in adding a third chain? I was looking at the datacoin ANN because it’s one of the few other data store chains I’ve seen and saw your announcement about this. Kevacoin is a data store chain forked from bitcoin that allows for the creation of “folders” called namespaces in a wallet that hold key-value data pairs. These key-value data pairs can be written to the chain in these namespaces, then later the key can be used to call up its associated value. It’s very versatile for storing data. Consider checking it out. It’s pretty cheap to write data to the chain and I would be willing to give you a bag coins to help cover fees.

I will take a look at it.

Is it CPU-mineable?

How can I get info about network? (Hash rate, peers...)

Any kevacoin exchange?

Is there an organization or a business around Kevacoin?

ByteStamp has added another blockchain to notarize its data.

In addition to use Datacaoin blockchain, it now notarizes also on CHIA blockchain (https://www.chia.net/).

Each ByteStampProof, each ByteStamp Digital Asset (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2248452) and even cross chek points (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=955473.0) are now notarized both on Datacoin Blockchain and on CHIA blockchain.

This affects every data sent to ByetStamp, even data you mange with your own developed software using ByteStamp API (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5294700).

And also files notarized by Windows ByteStamp Software (https://blockchain.bytestamp.net) (you must click this URL from Windows OS to see the software)

If you go to https://www2.bytestamp.net/docs/qdoc/it/7344ae399dae54dad079f31d5f034ace you can see a double blockchain ByteStampProof, one on Datacoin blockchain (on the right side) and another on CHIA blockchain (at bottom).

Here https://www2.bytestamp.net/c/c/pgVyVB4606 you can see a ByteStampProof written to CHIA DataLayer, and have the proof of inclusion on CHIA blockchain by using the sync_status field. You can verify CHIA block and transaction on third party services, too.

If you scroll at bottom of the page there are instructions to  verify CHIA ByteStampProof on your own.

There is also an explanation on how to read ByteStamp JSON written to Chia Data Layer, if you are a developer.

So, every ByteStampProof now as a strength of a double blockchain.

Also, because we write last Datacoin block hash on Chia Data Layer, we strengthen Datacoin blockchain with CHIA blockchain.

Bytestamp (http://www.bytestamp.net) is a blockchain notarization service active since 2014.

Ten years ago, I announced it in this topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=781281

In addition to use Datacaoin blockchain, it now notarizes also on CHIA blockchain (https://www.chia.net/).

Solved.

new Datacoin Public nodes created.

Please add this in your datacoin.conf

Code:

Just wondering - do the Bytestamp assets on Datacoin qualify as NFT's?

Could they be listed on OpenSea?

-extro

Yes.

ByteStamp Digital Assets are already traded on OpenSea within en Emblem Vault:

https://opensea.io/assets/0x82c7a8f707110f5fbb16184a5933e9f78a34c6ab/13427272911620531

Guess I commented in this thread at some point because it shows up in my new replies.

Yo, your Emblem Vault NFT points to a Dogecoin address:

The vault has 1 Dogecoin in it, and nothing else, lol

https://emblem.finance/nft?id=13427272911620531

PS: please pay attention: the internal BTC Address of Emblem Vault must be of legacy type (i.e. starting with '1')

 Cheesy

I would be curious to learn more about other image files that have been added to Bytestamp in this manner, I know next to nothing about it. Doesn't seem like this one was done correctly, however.

You 're right. It is not correct, but it was not made by me and I didn't noticed that. It is not a my own Emblem vault.

To be correct, the Emblem vault should have the same address of the actual owner of  the BDA (Bytestamp Digital Asset, that we now call NFT)

Hi,

I would like to setup a mining pool for datacoin to support the project.

I found a source for primecoin on github that could be a starting point:

pool server code: https://github.com/madMAx43v3r/xpmpool

GPU miner code is at: https://github.com/madMAx43v3r/xpmclient

Could anyone help me in order to make this work?

Or, if you already have something for datacoin...

Yes.

ByteStamp Digital Assets are already traded on OpenSea within en Emblem Vault:

Here are instructions on how to trade ByteStamp Digital Assets on OpenSea:

1) upload your file to ByteStamp and register it

2) take the first ownership of this ByteStamp Digital Asset from ByteStamp website

3) create an Emblem Vault (or use your if you already have one)

4) from ByteStamp Website transfer the ownership of the ByteStamp Digital Asset to the internal BTC address of the Emblem Vault

5) optionally, put NFT image and ByteStampProof link (https://www.bytestamp.net/docs/qdoc/en/<ByteStampMD5>) into Emblem Vault

Done.

Now you can trade the ByteStamp Digital Asset as an Emblem Vault on OpenSea.

The owner of the Emblem Vault can burn it to have the private key of the internal BTC Address.

Once obtained the private key, the ByteStamp Digital Asset can be transferred to another owner on ByteStamp Website.

Of course, it can also be transferred to another Emblem Vault, and so on...

Happy trading!

PS: please pay attention: the internal BTC Address of Emblem Vault must be of legacy type (i.e. starting with '1')

BTW, there is a problem with GUI of the wallet (version v0.16.3.0-2edec369aminki)

Be careful, this issue will make you lose your money

Steps to reproduce:

  • 1 go to the send tab
  • 2 send money to an address (select it from previous used addresses)
  • 3 repeat steps 1 and 2

The first sending goes right

But when you do the second sending (step 3), and for each subsequent sending,  it shows the right destination address, but when it makes the transaction the address becomes NULL.

So it sends money to an empty address and the DTCs are lost forever.

The issue does not occur sending money from command line, so it is a GUI related problem.

How can I see the Network Hash Rate?

I tried with getmininginfo, getblockchaininfo, getnettotals... but there isn't

Is this https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/11139/how-is-the-network-hash-rate-calculated valid for Datacoin, too?
It's getnetworkhashps but it's only in the 0.16.3 client (don't use it for txs)

Something is not right...

I have this version, but not this method:

Code:
datacoin-cli getnetworkinfo
{
  "version": "v0.16.3.0-2edec369aminki",
  "subversion": "/Datoshi:0.16.3/",
  "protocolversion": 70015,
  ...

Code:
datacoin-cli getnetworkhashps
error code: -32601
error message:
Method not found

(don't use it for txs)

Why not?

I use it with

Code:
prematurewitness=1
addresstype=legacy

Do you remember? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2188160.msg55496382#msg55496382

For some reason my is listed as NOT Listening, but i have listen=1 set in .conf, any ideas?
My server reports pretty much everything as incoming, I get a better idea by running a client at home, anything that shows up in the Peers tab is a listening node.

If your client is hosted on your home network, it likely won't be accessible externally unless your router supports NAT/UPNP and you have configured the router to enable UPNP for the machine running the client.

Belt and braces - have upnp=1 in the config (or rather ensure that you don't have upnp=0 in the config - which you don't seem to have).

Cheers

Graham

Yes, but could he listen as a tor hidden service?

What does this do?

Code:
listenonion=yes

If we could put people listening on TOR and if we can configure clients to serach on TOR for listening nodes, we can have more nodes to mantain the network up.

I guess it is made with listenonion= and proxy= specs in conf file...

Uh-huh, networkhashrate has collapsed.
Is for this reason that the last mined block was #4027220  at  2021-06-21 09:16:58 UTC ?
...
This morning graymines had 8 workers, now just 1.

The delay you observed is a direct result of the collapse of networkhashpersec.

It looks like someone is doing this:

-cut-
I could be entirely wrong, but about 3 years ago i had a similar experience, i mined a cpu only coin....its block time was every 2 minutes, but literally no-one was mining it, so the global hash was 1KH/s, i could acheive 65KH/s with just 1 core....so i would solo mine it with 12 threads for approx 3-4 hours, mining a block about every 1-4 seconds, within that 3-4 hours i had mined over 100,000 coins, and then the diff would jump 10 fold, so i would stop, and come back 1-2 weeks later.....when i would find the blocks were coming 1 every 2 mins, and the diff was down at 0.00002414, so i'd repeat.....worked great for about 1 month or 2, then the other miners left, i broke the chain, and couldn't send coins to the 1 and only exchange.
-cut-

More likely, the miner dLeqozLLkdKAQSFJ7evtWCiWNoFcArHngK rightly stopped its activity because he did not receive any DTC due to its segwit address for the payouts.

So, if I understand how PoW works, now we need to wait that someone finds a block at this difficulty. Only then the network will retarget the difficulty at a lower value.

-cut-
I recovered CrossVerse's "madpool" addition, after finally figuring out what it was all about.
It adds a pool server to the client and disables in-wallet mining, allowing the client to act as a local pool server to a local xpmclient GPU mining pool client.
-cut-

I also studied it, because I would like to set up a Datacoin mining pool on ByteStamp servers. But it drove me crazy.

Let me know about it.

Latest list of recently-seen nodes, edited from bytestamp's peers list

-cut-

Edit:
Meh, I fed them into my client, which can only connect to:

addnode=144.76.64.49
addnode=51.148.146.204
addnode=91.250.62.26

So yeah, there were only two listening nodes, now three
-cut-

ByteStamp itself should be a listen node, but obviously ByteStamp does not see itself as a peer.

It should be reachable with

Code:
addnode=dtc.bytestamp.net:4777

Please let me know if it works.

ByteStamp is on your 0.16.3 client since February 2021.

But, what is the "View Bytestamp Record" button supposed to do?

It does nothing...

Last but not least, what about to bring Datacoin to a new level?

What I mean is:

smart contracts running on Datacoin blockchain

Sorry for my annoying post , I don't have much time, so I concentrate everything at once.

I thought ownership was a matter of signing a transaction with the Datacoin client, which should be possible in 0.16.
It can be interpreted as such but there's no software support enforcing it (i.e. you can sign any tx but to what effect?) The semantics of the interpretation remains a purely social understanding. Signing a tx doesn't have any inherent meaning as far as the client is concerned.

I would remember that you can already take the ownership of an asset on Datacoin blockchain with ByteStamp Digital Assets.

Here is the tutorial:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqu0syu9Qtc

and here you can download the windows app:

https://blockchain.bytestamp.net

When you take the ownership of an asset, it writes to blockchain the ByteStampMD5 of the file and the sign of the Address that becomes the owner.

And when the owner transfers an asset to another address, it writes in blockchain that the previous owner has transferred the ownership to another address.

Anybody can read in the Datacoin blockchain that the transfer of the asset was signed by the address that was the previous owner.

Each ByteStamp Digital Asset transaction has an hash that is inserted in the next one transaction, thus creating another blockchain of digital assets that relies on Datacoin blockchain.

All the process is open and verifiable by third parties.

For example, you can read the transaction id 76fbe121399d0b2fd62ee151d7bba079400b0d246fe8cb219407778600689c79

(https://www2.bytestamp.net/blocks/qtx/it/76fbe121399d0b2fd62ee151d7bba079400b0d246fe8cb219407778600689c79)

that transfer an asset from a Datacoin Address to a Bitcoin Address (yes, we can transfer across different wallets types  Wink)

In this way you can transfer each type of file (music, image, video, spreadsheet,...) as like as you transfer bitcoins or datacoins, because each file can become a crypto asset.

Hello,

please note that https://www2.bytestamp.net/c/block is NOT a Datacoin block explorer, but a Bitcoin one.

Datacoin block explorer is at  https://www2.bytestamp.net/blocks/index

That said, if you search on bytestamp (https://www2.bytestamp.net/blocks/qutx) for the transaction id

 8b077e4eb862f7ee11ee14f2052430ad1f82b1831ec8b57f652c5cd35932fd88

you can see that there is no such tx in the blockchain.

This may suggests that your transaction was never broadcasted to blockchain. You can see this with the command getrawmempool.

You can also use new ByteStamp interface at https://www.bytestamp.net/timestamp-status-overview-and-archive/ selecting the Blockchain radius button and paste the TX ID where it says "Type to search"

The Tx ID e4c3a0539dabd94b5c8e6a25c0f108328c9c00c43e45c487fea38754acb46d97 instead was confirmed in block #3844696  as you can see here https://www2.bytestamp.net/blocks/qblo/it/3844696

But there is something strange today in Datacoin blockchain.

If you go to block explorer

https://www2.bytestamp.net/blocks/index

and put

3873052

as starting block height, you can see that the blockchain was stopped for almost 4 hours.

Block # 3873050 came 4 hours after block # 3873049.

Maybe your transaction    8b077e4eb862f7ee11ee14f2052430ad1f82b1831ec8b57f652c5cd35932fd88 was "fallen" in this hole of 4 hours.

Also I noticed that coinsforall had dropped Datacoin support and dtc.graymines.net is mining.

But... if you go to

https://dtc.graymines.net/index.php?id=blocks

you can see that block # 3873054 was found by the address:

dc1q94pvtll03nsfrgn9felgtnzv98836huzk2nddp

That is not a legacy address but a segwit one.

So? Have we switched to Segwit?

Grahams?
