Re: How to import btc wallet from usb into Bitcoin-qt using ubuntu 13.10
by
titanza

Attempted and importing was unsuccessful. Just shows Zero balance in the qt. A wallet.dat file appeared in the directory on start up.

I'm going to assume you have already installed bitcoin-qt and that there is an existing wallet.dat in the bitcoin data directory.

1) Make sure bitcoin-qt is not running. (You can check using System Moniter)
2) Go to the bitcoin data directory (it's installed in the home directory by default - if you can't find it this link should help https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory)
3) Remove the current wallet.dat file and put it somewhere safe (the desktop works fine)
4) Place the wallet.dat you want to import in the .bitcoin directory
5) Start bitcoin-qt.

Note: this method allows you access to the backup but does not merge the two wallets.  If you want all your coins in the same wallet you need to send the coins from the wallet you don't want to use to an address in the wallet you do want to use.

Are you using an existing wallet.dat from the official Bitcoin client? or from another wallet application? bitcoin-qt only understands wallets that are in wallet.dat files. If you are importing from another wallet application you might have to import the private keys manually.

bitcoin-qt will automatically create a wallet.dat file on startup if one does not exist. Make sure that you have copied the correct wallet.dat file from the usb to the data directory (normally at ~/.bitcoin) and when you start bitcoin-qt you should see the balance (assuming that you are using the correct wallet file). You can see if you have the correct receiving addresses in "File>Receiving addresses...".

If the wallet.dat file is correct but bitcoin-qt is not reflecting the correct transactions, you might have to rescan the blockchain. You can start a rescan by typing following command from the terminal:

Code:
bitcoin-qt -rescan

It shouldn't do any harm to the wallet.dat file (Nevertheless, you should have a backup in case of emergency), but it does take quite a while to complete.

Is there any further update on the next 300 units? If the order still has a "pending" status I assume that it means it is being shipped with the second 300?

I got tracking for second 300 and they're going to be arriving monday or tuesday by DHL if your order is still pending that means you are in the second half of the 300 units.

Great news, thanks.

Just placed an order for 2 of these puppies Smiley

I was waiting for the numbers to go up, but with the recent updates the GB seems quite healthy. Here's hoping you reach the 200 minimum quickly.

you can wire any fuse holder to the contact points.  Get a cheap one from an automotive store.

Yea, I ended up using some high gauge wire with crimped terminals to create a holder. The fuse now protrudes off the top of the board which should prevent it from transferring too much heat to the board and melting anything else Wink Thankfully all the ports still work fine.

Hi,

Does anybody perhaps know a part number of the fuse holder? Or maybe a URL of an equivalent part. The fuse in mine also melted but to the point where it looks easier to just replace the holder. Hopefully all the ports are still working - it seems like they are. Only problem is that I now have 47 USB miners out of commission Sad

Re: New Member - question about difficulty
by

Hello,

You probably won't make any ROI, but they are nice for show.

The difficulty is linked to the target to solve a block. The network tries to maintain the difficulty to try to make sure that 10 blocks per minute are generated. The difficulty changes every 2016 blocks based on the average number of block per minute produced. If the average falls below 10 block per minute then the difficulty can go down.

Sorry but can I confirm the size of the parcel is small flat rate box (1-14), medium flat rate box (15-100), and large flat rate box (more than 100)?

According to USPS.com (https://www.usps.com/ship/priority-mail-flat.htm).

Small Box: 8 11/16" x 5 7/16" x 1 3/4"
Medium Box 1: 11 1/4" x 8 3/4" x 6"
Medium Box 2: 14" x 12" x 3 1/2"
Large Box: 12 1/4" x 12 1/4" x 6"

And what about Group 9? I paid you 29PCS 9 days ago for almost double price and up today no delivery, no tracking number. Sad  It is bad for me. Will you make any compensation for it?

That's the way that the game works, ASICMiner decides the prices and the resellers adjust their prices accordingly. It is not something that can be predicted. The price of the Group 8 units I ordered when from 0.45 to 0.31 to 0.17 and they are still in transit (The disadvantage of International ordering, and manufacturing delays are part of the ASIC game). Anyway, you cannot expect a ROI on these units (even at the current price).

Nevertheless, IMO SSB runs the best GB for these units (especially for International orders), I am extremely happy with the service so far. Think of your future savings on your future orders Cheesy

I use Xubuntu for my mining machine, the ATI drivers are eay enough to install, this wiki is pretty good for the driver installation: wiki.cchtml.com

I also use it as my primary OS, it would drive me crazy to dual boot into Windows all the time to work. I would say that if you use Windows as your primary OS then just mine in Windows.

Well, I have earned 0.00510789 from various websites, but I have a mining contract that is supposed to start in September.  Tongue

So we will see how that goes in another month or two.

Mining contract? How does that work?

PS: Sorry for bringing the IQ of the forums down Tongue

You pay somebody that gives you are share of the profits from a mining operation that they run (or that they plan to run at some stage in the future). In some cases the shares are used to pay for the devices that are going to be used.

In general I suppose that the restrictions make sense, can you imagine the amount of spam if the restrictions weren't in place.

However, the Newbie board is a little bit boring and predictable Smiley

Re: what if I FORGET WALLET PIN
by
titanza
on 24/07/2013, 11:50:44 UTC
The Bitcoin-QT client only supports an encrypted wallet via a password. If you forget the password you will not be able to access the wallet and the bitcoins contained in that wallet (because that is where all of the secret keys for the addresses are stored).

A bit late - but at least you can contribute to the network (when you eventually get the device).
