Re: Why Doge coin is bad

I enjoyed reading this thread.

After $7.3M daily trading volume of doge yesterday (9 months after release, when 99.8% of other currencies are long gone) with 200%+ margin against #3 currency (litecoin) - this thread is an evidence of fact some people are really, really bad at predictions.

p.s. watch doge replacing LTC as #2 currency by value. Apparently it's the only one out of "big 3" currencies with high ROI potential. Others barely have any short-term potential.

1) currency is secured by merged mining;

2) out of "major" currencies it's the only one with potential to increase value by hundred percents in the nearest future +

2.1) it has potential to replace LTC as #2 crypto-currency (community will make sure business penetration surpass communty-less LTC sooner rather than later).

Also pump =)

edit: 6M+ daily trade volume (3x more than LTC), 75% price increase.

If you would ask just random people to name few coins, there would be btc first, LTC second and Doge third. And yes next year it will change or in 2 years. Nothing last forever.

It's changing already - here is article on Forbes.com where doge named after BTC, litcoin is being mentioned somewhere in the end of the text. BTC community on Reddit was deeply offended by comparison like this. I guess people are less skeptic today as doge hit almost twice bigger 24h trading volume than LTC (3.6M vs 2M).

I proof that DOGE is on the 6th place in coinmarketcap.

http://coinmarketcap.com

It's number 2 actually - if sorted by value of trades during 24 hours, with 30% gap between second and third positions (bitcoin - 13M, doge - 2.7M, litecoin - 2M).

Impressive for a clone which was supposed to die few months ago (again - isracoin and auroracoin were released at the same time as doge and aren't even in top-100 now).

Doge is creating a bubble before death.

And before its untimely death this bubble is going to take #2 spot among cryptocurrencies. Probably because it's the only investment-worthy crypto-currency at the moment with potential to increase its value tenfold (if not more) during few months.

p.s. whoever think community is nothing - check where are isracoin and auroracoin and now? They didn't have any community and started approximately at the same time as dogecoin.

I have service which perform remote calls for wallet deposit and withdraw operations using HTTPS - it takes from 1 to 5 seconds on server side (for visitors it can take longer despite CloudFlare CDN). It's ok when people do such operations once in a while but having 20-50 open connections per second (~100 total) to remote service doesn't look like good idea.

Still replacing session after remote call once per minute per visitor could work to save server resources. But it will allow 1 minute window for hacker.

Interesting idea nonetheless.

Why any sane VC would invest in dogecoin?

It has potential to replace Litcoin (as number 2 currency) which has approximately the same functionality but less activity behind it. I've already seen examples when businesses start to work with bitcoin and dogecoin and ignore litecoin. And since bitcoin is relatively stable now only dogecoin has long-term (1 year) potential for substantial growth from "noticeable" currencies.

So I'll buy some when price will drop.

Whoever mentioned people unsubbing from doge sub-reddit - it has 4+ times more users than litecoin sub-reddit has accumulated in 3 years.

100% price increase in 2 weeks clearly is "pump and dump", I expect value will be very volatile and price will be extremely low for a year until there will be enough businesses supporting dogecoins (cannot buy pizza, cannot book hotel with the coins without intermediary - yet) and there will be real capitals (instead of faith) supporting its value. In the long run I expect doge to replace litecoin as number 2 currency due to much more active community and usage of the coin for various tipbots in social networks. If anything it's social networking that can make a currency popular. Also besides dogecoin none of other currencies have any sub-culture behind them - I couldn't believe my eyes when I've seen adults using "shibe talk" to communicate in EVE Online.

TL;DR I will buy more after drop.

Part of /r/bitcoin community seems offended by the fact business treat dogecoin as a currency equal to bitcoin  Grin
