btw sniffing glue seems like a really good alternative for a gpu miner like me in these times Wink

would rather leave the glue alone, but lack of Bitcoins means no use of a certain website for alternatives... Wink

Slush's pool is dropping off. Less than 16TH/s now and still dropping. Checked the global network hash rate and that has dropped from 155 to 152TH/s since last night.

BFL began shipping singles yesterday - I suspect the peaks and troughs are bfl testing the ready to release singles on slush's pool!

In a way its good if they are testing, it gives miners fore knowledge of the increases and wont go much above the previous numbers, should mean 1 big difficulty change and then a bit more calm.

[...]- about downclocking the memory - mine are at 450MHz, but that's only because at lower MHz sometimes the driver crashes and also it seems to affect the hashing speed. [...]

Hashing with 7970, cgminer + MSI Afterburner I undercloked  memory to the amount of 50-100 Mhz with core clock around 1140. I didn't see the impact on hashing power or driver crushes but GPU's fans speed and tempratures.

i have my 6xxx cards memory at 275, i can go lower, below 200, but i do seem to lose hash rate, and higher only affects the temp.  I kill ccc, and combine trixx with cgminer  and get fan speeds between 1% and 50% with target temp at 70 but usually lower. i must be a lucky one!
Are you sure that MEM is running at that speed? I'm asking because I get report that change was successfully but when I look at MEM speed I see that it is running at 1100. And this happens at every speed below 900 or 1000... Even in afterburner... I can set it but when I look I see 1100 in graphs... Or it could be the driver...

yep, trixx, cgminer and gpu-z and afterburner all report the same, the temp changes a fair bit as well, goes down, which i take to be a sign of the change...

I use cgminer, with it I don't need any overclocking utilities etc... I does all of it out-of-the-box, only "thing" with it is that its a console app, but with cgwatcher (which restarts miner if its crashes or cpu gets sick etc..) its golden in windows. Prolly lil more setting up tho (compared to guiminer etc...).
Only thing I had with it is that, because I run crossfire (with 4xxx cards, yeah old I know but best ones are all in the rigs Wink) I have to start a game, otherwise 2nd card doesnt get undervolted/overclocked core/underclock mem :/ (ULP problem, tried modifying registry etc, didnt work)
Yes options like that are sweet...

--temp-target 74,70,70,75,75,75,75,65 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 70-100,60-100,50-100,70-100,70-100,70-100,70-100,30-100 --auto-gpu --gpu-engine 800-986,900-986,800-941,700-816,700-816,700-841,700-841,850-990 --gpu-memclock 900,900,300,300,300,150,150,300

just in case you dont to know. First are temperatures for my cards. Then I setup control for fans and as a backup option give cgminer chance to lower core MHz to have safe temperature... Then I setup mem clocks.

EDIT: From what I can figure 5xxx mem can go to 300 or even 150 but some cars get unstable, 6xxx can go to 900 and 7xxx can go to 1000.

i have my 6xxx cards memory at 275, i can go lower, below 200, but i do seem to lose hash rate, and higher only affects the temp.  I kill ccc, and combine trixx with cgminer  and get fan speeds between 1% and 50% with target temp at 70 but usually lower. i must be a lucky one!

Time to abandon Bitcoin full stop unless your rich, a banker invested business or funded by mummy and daddy. (joking) entire rigs have been wiped out in hours, value is dropping, why bother? the only hope is that they are worth a huge amount in 5 years or so because people are not going to be attracted by this lunacy, only deterred.

Ebay will be flooded with CHEAP 79x 78x etc video cards soon!! win win for gamers haha...

must admit, i did see this as a way to get a nice gaming/rendering rig without the missus complaining, just showed her some cash generated from Bitcoin and she was happy!  Wink

@ the current rate even newbies couldn't afford enough ASIC to mine sufficiently, what good is a £300 4.5GH/s K16 when it will be no more profitable than an nvidia gpu would be against AMD gpu. x10 k16 boards might get something but not enough to justify the 3k spent on equipment, no newbies will mean no widespread use of Bitcoin, no widespread use means the end of something very promising. ASIC...the Rothschild of cryptocurrency.

17000 GH/s  hopefully we might find a few more blocks now. 1-2 good days to 3-4 bad days is no fun.

I normally get 0.0017 to 0.0020 at 930MH, but the last two blocks I got 0.0014 and 0.0015

Anyone else see reduced payout on the blast two blocks?

hash rate has gone up 400gh/s since i checked this morning, probably why, mine has gone down compared to earlier blocks today.
plus more variance on smaller miners.

same here discovered Bitcoin start of 2012, value was 5 GBP, i intended to start mining but i put it off due to BFL saying they were releasing ASIC very soon, well now im stuck with no Bitcoin, low hashrate and a heartbreaking realisation of missing out on at least 20-25k.

will there be a plentiful supply of chips? if so all is well and good  Wink

Sub $50 USB sticks would do wonders for affordability (and difficulty!).  Its all possible as long as some manufacturer is still producing.

nearly pre ordered some usb, but at BTC2 its cheaper to get a 6870 gpu for same hashes and a gaming system or 2 after.

is that the asicgigahash project based in the uk?  can i trust them enough to make a pre-order if it is?

even 4.5GH/s will be next to nothing at the rate things are going, would still need a few!

Avalon is selling chip productions in minimum batches of 10000 there are a good dozen people implementing these.  Yes 4.5GH/s will likely be the new 450MH/s Cheesy  We are basically just swapping a $300 450MH/s video card with a $300 4.5GH/s ASIC.  At least until even newer ASICS are released.

will there be a plentiful supply of chips? if so all is well and good  Wink

edit-- found my own answer, at least the end of the year, im a little less bitter towards ASIC now.  Grin

Everyone can afford a GPU, not many can afford 2k+ for asic.

With the K16 project its not going to be necessary to drop 2k for ASIC.  At current chip prices its closer to $300 for 4.5GH/s.  Cheap enough for DIY to still exist but GPUs will quickly become useless.

I think ASIC will start the demise of bitcoin from the consumer point of view, if you cant mine for BTC why pay a premium to buy them when a debit card and amazon will be cheaper for any LEGAL goods you might want to buy. Speculation and slightly dodgy transactions is all people will want BTC for.

Why cheaper?

If you cant mine for coins you have to buy them, people selling BTC here in the UK charge a premium (up to about 10%), bank transfers to exchanges are pretty much non existent.
an item costing £80 on amazon is most likely going to cost more somewhere else e.g (insert Btc store here) due to lack of purchasing power.
And for newbies, the hassle of setting up the wallet, finding stores, obtaining Btc (no easy task)

Everyone can afford a GPU, not many can afford 2k+ for asic.

So it's more expensive for people in the UK - that sucks. That's not everyone though.

Most people can use bitpay, it's same price as using a credit card without everyone knowing you just bought "Busty beauties 7" online. I'm not sure why you're unable to use it?

dont you need Btc to start with to use Bitpay though?

The reward related fields came back up, but I'm missing rewards from most of todays blocks now.

I suppose it will be fixed later?

my estimated reward is still NA, and im sure im missing rewards also?
