the wallet still crashes if you double rightclick the lock

It doesn't crash for me on windows. If you use windows, the error may be on your side.

Really? What kind of error do you mean? It's a c compiled application, right?
Right click the lock, then wait for the password popup, then right click the lock again
***crash***
Obviously an application bug
Also, can you all just stop acting like Autodiv? Thanks...

Hi !
Thx for reporting. There are some GUI bugs (not related to the daemon) listed to be fixed, this one is already on the list for the Windows client.
Regards.

Hi BCT !

Just a quick post for linux users:

New branch in my install scripts repo: https://github.com/xCoreDev/vanillacoin-scripts/tree/rc
So use this link during the RC testing phase to build/update the daemon.

To sum:
https://github.com/xCoreDev/vanillacoin-scripts --> Points to John's Vanillacoin repo (can't build it during RC deployment phase)
https://github.com/xCoreDev/vanillacoin-scripts/tree/rc --> Points to John's Vanillacoin repo & remove the error macro (so it will build the current RC)
https://github.com/xCoreDev/vanillacoin-scripts/tree/dev --> Points to my personal Vanillacoin repo (still @ 0.3.9 atm, and will always be on last stable release when john's repo is in RC deployment phase)

Enjoy your weekend all !

John! Markets do not works! That is your merit! Constant updating wallets confuses the exchange, they are in constant update! As a result, it is impossible to deduce from the VNL exchange! Maybe you could work more efficiently with the exchanges, or less frequently updated wallets! Angry

Poloniex is ok, and as I said earlier, Bittrex knows about the 0.3.8 (just let them the time to update it & reopen)
There's new features in Vanillacoin and it req. some constant dev & updating ; sometimes it's planned, sometimes it's urgent. I'm sending an email as soon as I know about a new update. I'll do that with all main services since months. Imo john's merit is more his constant work on many projects than the fact that an exchange is disabling deposit&withdrawal some days.

Bittrex wallet still disabled ?

Just sent an email to check with them, but I know they got the email about 0.3.8 upgrade 4 days ago. I presume it will be enabled soon.

Additional GUI features are planned for this Q4/2015, like first translations. If you want to help us with that part, please check https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/234/vanillacoin-translations
You can reach me here, on Vanillacoin Forum, or on Freenode if needed.

Thanks in advance, and have a good day/n8.

Hi there !

- how do I set password for this wallet?
You can't atm, but it's planned.

- location/folder where files are stored on my phone (is it just wallet.dat or any other files)?
if you have root access: /data/data/net.vanillacoin.vanillacoin/
auto-timestamped wallet backup is done during file creation, you can find it in the /sdcard/ folder.

- how do I copy/paste address if I want to sent from my PC to my phone wallet?
From the QRCode, you can use http://zxing.org/w/decode.jspx to decode a screenshot of the mobile wallet's QRCode
More features to like Address Sharing are ready to merge from the dev branch.

- can I add more addresses or just 1 (default) possible?
Not atm, so only 1 address by mobile wallet (planned, but no eta)

- how do I "open" wallet for staking?
Just open the Vanillacoin app & let it run in Background

Jump on iRC if you need help.

Have a good n8/day !

libcoin was the original name, cause it's not 'only' a coin (see: coinpp), but was already used. So to stay in the same spirit, john named it Vanillacoin refering to the Vanilla computer meaning. (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanilla_software)
& coz Vanilla is good, isn't it ?

Hi,

I've been watching VNL for a bit and have been slowly buying coins over last few weeks.  I think it's great and having gone through some JC's code I can attest it isn't just another Bitcoin clone.  Could have chosen a somewhat less vanilla name though...

One question I did have (feel free to redirect me to IRC but if it's indexable here someone else may find it).  I've got a the sever running one on of my Linux boxes.  A couple of questions on configuration.

1. Is there a testnet setting for VNL?  I'm working on writing a few services on top of it and would rather not use real currency for now.

2. Is it possible to have RPC bound to a different port or is it solely localhost from the daemon itself at the moment?

3. Does anybody know if there are plans for an implementation of sendrawtransaction via RPC?

Thanks,

Guy

Hi guytp,

1. testnet isn't public atm, but should be enabled in github source in next weeks.
2. RPC port is hardcoded atm (see: https://github.com/john-connor/vanillacoin/blob/51c6960b2a14ffbf67af19aefac6291768e1ffbc/include/coin/protocol.hpp#L64), & daemon is listening on 127.0.0.1 only by default (--rpc-allow-ips=x.x.x.x,y.y.y.y to add others non-public ips)
3. Only John can answer this one, but I can add this to the vanillacoin daemon feature request list.

Have a good n8/day !

the daemon compiled on my linux
now how do i get GUI ?  Smiley

why do i have the feeling that this coin is a future dash killer?

No GUI on linux atm, so you have to use RPC calls to use it, or make a quick .php page if you need something 'visual'.

RPC call example w/ curl: curl --user user --data-binary '{"jsonrpc": "1.0", "id":"123", "method": "getinfo", "params": [] }' -H 'content-type: text/plain;' http://127.0.0.1:9195/

Jump on IRC if you need more info/help.

i just checked my balance of my client wallet but i found that it is different with what is showing in block explorer...is it normal?

well..nobody able to answer such a simple question?

Block Explorer is in Beta phase, have some calc fix to do on Richlist and address balance update. But I have more urgent to work on atm, so will do an announce when calc is fixed.

All other stuff on Bex are ok, SSL cert is no more auto-signed btw, and I have forced http -> https, same for talk.vanillacoin.net.

Have good day / night btctalk ppl !
