I registered for an account but never got the confirmation email. It said to contact support but the support page simply says:

This product comes 'as-is' without any warranty. Please check the Apache License, Version 2.0, for details.

I used a gmail email address so I'm not sure why it didnt come thru.

This doesn't look good... Another thought: do you have Time Machine (or similar) functionality enabled in your OS? If so, you could try to restore a previous version of the wallet file. Otherwise you may want to contact ThomasV (lead developer of Electrum) and ask for help.

I don't have any automated backup software enabled. I am in contact with Animazing right now who helped on Electrum ( although I think he only helped with GUI :| ) but I think going to the lead dev would be a good suggestion.

Version of Electrum?

Also FYI, Armory, MultiBit and Electrum each use their own wallet format and can't import wallets from each other, unfortunately (only addresses).

At the time of the corruption it was 1.9, since then I have updated to 1.9.2 to see if it would resolve any issues.

OK, try this. I can't guarantee it will work,
but it's definitely worth trying.

1/ start electrum and create a *new*, empty temporary wallet.
2/ encrypt it with the *same* password as your corrupted wallet.
3/ exit electrum
4/ open the corrupted wallet file in notepad.
5/ find and copy the encrypted 'seed' value to the clipboard.
it should be a long text string ending with equal signs - something like: 'MVE+ARAQzc73hvafKTo1ZHT0CAajPw=='
6/ open the new wallet file in notepad.
7/ replace the 'seed' value there with the contents of the clipboard.
8/ save, exit notepad, and start electrum
9/ click the seed icon to (hopefully) retrieve your seed
10/ you're almost done. do NOT use this new wallet. delete it and create a new wallet by restoring your seed.
11/ let it synchronize, cross your fingers and you should have your coins again.

The only problem is, when I open up the corrupted wallet, it looks like this: http://puu.sh/5bwcx.png

Do you know the password?  If so, there's something you can try. I will post instructions later today.

Yes, I know the password to the wallet

Don't know if this will help, but once I had a similar problem. Solved it by copying electrum.dat and importing it to multibit.

Opening wallet "/home/ace/pywallet/electrum.dat"...
Unable to load wallet "/home/ace/pywallet/electrum.dat" or backups. See help on "Wallet Backups" for more details.
The error was "com.google.bitcoin.store.UnreadableWalletException Could not read wallet".
... done.

I tried importing it to blockchain and armoury as well.

If the dat file is not encrypted, open it in notepad and look for "seed".
You should find a 32-digit hexadecimal string. Copy it, rename your dat file,
start electrum, and at the "new wallet" screen, choose to restore from seed.
When prompted, paste your 32-digit code to recover your wallet.

It is encrypted.

High value wallet.dat corrupted, tried many solutions to no avail
by

So yesterday I purchased approximately $1000 of bitcoins. I booted up my laptop to get the BTC address from Electrum and then shut it back down again. About 30 minutes later I started the laptop again and tried to run Electrum but my wallet.dat was then corrupted...

This is an older wallet so I'm having a hard time finding the seed from it (I have also moved since then so it's even harder). I've looked on every external drive I have for wallet backups as well as searched both of my computers filesystems.

I tried dumping the keys with pywallet, bitcointools, and wallet-recover to no avail. At this point I'm not sure what else to do. Perhaps a hex editor? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated at this point.

I'll give a reward to whoever aids me in this wallet's recovery.

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone!

I see many of you asking about which lists are complete etc.  All of my dated lists are now combined and easily searchable.  We are always trying to solve issues from ANY date.  If someone's issue was solved before yours and they were on a later dated list then it is likely that their issue could be less complex.  I am being trained everyday to solve new types of issues and I am always going thru my own lists to try and solve ANYONE'S ISSUE.

While we have software which logs your tickets which many CS agents work from, I only work from my own dated lists of issues.  Other CS agents also look at my lists and try to solve the issues within.  We have multiple support channels open but I believe we are working towards integrating all of our CS processes into a new and improved software management system.  I want to help solve the older issues with priority.  I am working very hard to be able to do this.

I'm going into my PMs first today and then I'll go thru the forum thread.  Thanks for your patience and understanding!  Cheesy

I would suggest IRC as well for a support channel. As it is technically your support channel  Cheesy

But there were a few people who were in there waiting patiently and nobody is around  Cry

Congratulations.  Enough money from new orders must have finally come in to fill your old order.  Let's hope at least some of those whose money they gave to you are as lucky.  Watching this thread is about the same as watching Satoshi Dice...some "win" a portion of their own money, some lose it all Smiley

I may have gotten my money, but that doesn't change the fact that it still smells like a ponzi scheme

Time for a lawsuit anyone?

I didn't even buy any bitcoins through BitInstant, just needed them to transfer my funds from Dwolla to Mt. Gox. It's been about 27 hours now for me with multiple e-mails and PM's and I've received absolutely no response at all. 500 dollars just gone, with more money lost by the minute thanks to the rising market. 500 USD is alot for me and I'm not letting this go. Here's my info AGAIN just in case you see it URSAY.

Order ID   a8cd35a3-6fae-4b81-8a8a-49f7eb7f4fc7

Fees (inclusive)   1.99%%
Amount you paid   $500.0 USD
Amount you will receive   $490.05 USD
Delivery Deadline   Tue Apr 9 15:15:51 2013

You're screaming lawsuit after waiting only 27 hours? Lol, I've been waiting since April 3rd.

Dear acepilot1023,

There has been a withdrawal from your Mt.Gox account:

Thanks,
The Mt.Gox Team

I requested a MtGox coupon to Paypal transfer and the order went through but I never received the paypal.

http://i.imgur.com/bLIu1go.png

The money was indeed withdrawn from the MtGox account: http://i.imgur.com/rskAsYX.png

In the email I received from Bitinstant it says: APIResponse: {u'errorCode': u'INSUFFICIENT_FUNDS', u'paymentID': 0}

I think that your paypal account did not have enough funds to process the transaction at the time. That is just a theory, and since I have no further information thusfar, that is what I'm attributing it to.

If you have any need for more information or clarity, feel free to contact me. I will be around for a while.

Okay, I'm getting fed up with this. I have asked repeatedly about this and I have gotten nowhere. I have tried to be nice, encouraging other people to be patient, but this shit has to stop.

It's been almost a week and the only thing I've gotten is promises it will be looked into and a email for the ticket that was apparently opened for me saying processed on April 5, but I still dont have my money to this very day. http://i.imgur.com/oHH8tYt.png

URSAY said to PM him all the information if you wanted him personally to take care of your matter, and I promptly did. He replied that he would look into it. This was around 50 pages of this thread ago. A few days later (and no messages later...) I replied to the PM asking him if there were any updates and I get no response.

I'm onboard with opening a class-action lawsuit against Bitinstant. It seems this is the only way to get their attention. I will be contacting my attorney regarding this matter if I don't see a resolution rather soon. I am fed up with this.

I have not lost as much money to Bitinstant as some of you others have, but that doesn't change the fact that they cheated us out of our money.

I guess I will post this over and over again until you actually look at it because you seem to be replying to posts that were posted after I posted this, yet ignoring mine.

This is looking more and more like a ponzi scheme.

And still URSAY says nothing. At least defend the company you supposedly represent.

I can't always defend us because I would rather solve your support issues.  Surely that's what you would like, NO?

It is very much so what I would like. But ignoring a post doesn't solve support issues.

Please provide me with a Paypal transaction number if it was "processed". If you indeed processed it, this is a Paypal error and I should contact them to get it resolved.

I can't post in the forum 24/7 or I will never actually get to helping with your issue.  Why is that so difficult to understand?  Already late escalating the 4/9 list because I am here reassuring you over and over.  I understand your frustration but surely you want to work WITH me and not AGAINST me???

Reassuring me over and over? You posted 2 things. The second one, I didn't want reassurance, I wanted information. Which still isnt provided.

I think that the people from before 4/9 probably should have a little more priority than the people before 4/9. Usually you do things in order, not 5 from one day and 7 from another. Their claims are just as important as mine, it's just I've been on the list for longer. As have quite a few others that are getting pushed to the back of the line.
