OgNasty has my vote to do whatever it takes to speed this process up.

Hi Carnth,

Surf CM and I would like to accept Og's 0.75 BTC offer for our AM so we can get this over with.

Since the shares aren't paying dividends and can't be transferred within a reasonable (or unreasonable) amount of time, they are worthless anyway.

Cheers,

-iB

Much appreciated.

I will go for the offer as well.  Not sure if it is the case, but if you are the other 2 largest shareholders that would be a majority.

I could write up a simple python application that people could use to import the old wallet keys into the new wallet, so no need to alter the new client at all.

It would be pretty simple, and for the extra paranoid, they can always do it manually.

Brilliant!

Did you score any cheap shares for us during the Great Panic of 0' 13?   Cheesy

Last: ▼5@0.01  Dang, wish I'd had some skunk bids in place.

If there ever was a time for a share buyback, this would be it!

Short answer: yes.

I would buy more shares from the fund at current NAV if you think you could use the liquidity.

add a poison pill for sudden hash increases

It seems to me that a poison pill would make the changes in difficulty larger not smaller.  There are 2 obvious ways to smooth out difficulty shorten adjustment period or make only fractional adjustments.  I think 30 or 60 block adjustments will work fine.  Anything > 5 min and < 1 hour seems pretty solid.  Fractional adjustments would also work if you did say a geometric mean of the previous 2 targets with a double weight on the new target.  This can mess with the time a bit.  You probably could even use the same concept as pools use for PPLNS on difficulty adjustments.

Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on [BTC-TC]

I don't understand why there is even talk of a refund of Cog.F shares.

If Cognitive holds a motion to request a refund on avalon chips then the funds would be used to purchase other mining equipment.  The shares would be dispersed when that mining equipment is hashing.  That is the only reasonable interpretation of the contract.
"COG.F is an asset representing contracts for delivery of COGNITIVE shares that will be issued upon arrival of mining hardware purchased with COG.F funds"

Note there is no actual mention of avalon or any other hardware manufacturer.

Seems like a pretty solid offering you are keeping costs low and providing a high amount of shareholder protection.

I do wonder about the somewhat high buy-in level.  Why not 1,000,000 @ 0.065?  Do you already have a split in mind?

Could you let me know where you see the link?

It is on the FAQ page
How can I earn interest?

Availability != Supply

More people selling gold does not increase the supply of gold.

The increased availability may reduce the marginal price, but this will be very minor compared to the real price.
It will likely reduce volatility though.

Where did the 0.001BTC go?

I noticed it happened to one of my withdraws too, appears to withhold the transaction fee (since it used to use bitcoind).  It doesn't need it though so it leaves it in your coinlenders account.

Re: [BitFunder] btcQuick - Bitcoin Sales Service
by

on 02/08/2013, 22:32:59 UTC
July proved to be an incredibly strong month for btcQuick. Total sales for the month of July were $ 320,721.23 vs total sales in June of $ 126,250.58 for a total percent increase of 61%. The total YTD sales through July are $ 737,788.69. Total orders for the month of July were 2,434 vs total orders in June of 1,891 for a total order increase of 22%. These order numbers include new membership fee transactions.

New memberships have increased dramatically since hiring the marketing firm we spoke of on the last news release. We are pleased to say our repeat customer base is very strong and continuing to grow. The following ways we’ve been advertising are through: www.bitcoinmagazine.com    www.dailybitcoins.org    www.coinurl.com    www.reddit.com

We are working hard to acquire more BTC and do plan to release 50,000 share bundles on to the market. They will be released at current market price and at our discretion. We’re expecting to see continued growth and so far the first day of August (as of 7pm MST) has yielded $ 23,272.27 in sales! We’re working on partnerships with a few select Bitcoin companies to expand our services. More to follow in the month of August.

Thank you all for your continued support in btcQuick.

Nice!

FYI

($320721.23 - $126250.58) / $126250.58 = 154.0% increase
(2434-1891)/1891 = 28.7% increase

Looks like someone had buyers remorse, selling under IPO

aiwill plans to provide some updates and clarifications soon, curious to see what it'll be.

I hope they have a plan to move the 2nd 2,000,000 shares.  Stating that the 2nd batch will be at a higher price without specifying a timeline or a price point will just stagnate the stock for an unacceptable period of time while not providing any benefit.  It will also piss off any future investors that happen to purchase above the 2nd batch price point.  IMO Learn from the AMC fiasco and communicate the remaining share release schedule.

I agree, releasing IPO shares in batches is just flawed.  It would be much better and probably raise a lot more BTC if they only raise what they could conceivably need now and have a secondary IPO after the market for their shares a has matured (and most likely appreciated).

Hi Carnth. I think many issuers needlessly over-complicate their motions or news releases. Many(most?) give these only a passing glance and a wall of text will tend to get ignored. My split motion was worded very simply:

Quote
Shall bASIC-MINING institute a 10:1 stock split?
Given the recent share price appreciation a stock split may help improve liquidity.
This motion can be discussed here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=130982.msg2575562#msg2575562

This way you get your point across and leave an information trail for those that want to spend the time investigating. Just my take.

Cheers.

I like it. Do I have your permission to copy your motion text nearly verbatim?  Smiley

Does everyone else think creativex's motion text is the way to go?

Yes this text is very clear.

Wow... with about 24 hours left in the current motion vote, only 64 out of 230 votes have been counted.

Obviously I have let down the shareholders in communication somewhere.

I need your help. How can I reach more shareholder so that they know they can vote? I am not particularly fond of the "news" feature that btct.co has. Some asset managers like to spam with it. Besides, the motion itself sent an email to all shareholders (or it should have). Did you receive it the motion email?

What else could I have done to get more share holders to vote?

Hmm looking through my email it looks like I didn't get an email when the motion was created.  I have in the past for other issues and I get them for dividends.
For me that is not a problem since I login often enough anyway.
Personally I have just been holding off on my vote, I wanted to see how the vote was going first.

I will go vote for the motion shortly here.

Thanks

Now your 401k can invest in bitcoins,  retirement funds, every wall street trader...  this is opening floodgates.

Oh interesting.  I mentioned bitcoin to my retirement fund manager in January, and she looked at me like I was crazy (of course she'd never heard of it).  A lot has happened since then.  So I wonder if I asked her now if she'd be all over it?

I know you can hold physical gold in roth wouldn't it be possible to hold Bitcoin?

Not yet however if you can get the IRS to accept the premise and someone starts a trustee which handles physical Bitcoins in a manner similar to Bullion in theory it is possible.

I don't want to get to off topic, but what if you setup an IRA LLC?

did some reading and it looks like -- your statement is right "not yet" even in an IRA LLC

Also known as how do you exit an illiquid market without destroying the price...

I don't think so, this is very expensive and time consuming way to sell their position.  It would be much cheaper and easier to arrange a series of private deals.
