I believe MtGox works somewhat like a Pyramid Scheme, so I'm really hoping some more losers keep sending funds to MtGox so i get my money

It certainly looks that way, you'd think that if banks have a limit on the amount of funds they can send per day they'd open accounts with other banks.

Has that blown out lately? When I deposited by wire a month or so ago the money was tradeable within three hours.

Do they accept deposits in £s? Or is it just €s?

Inept support (Marcus) who have been saying for months they will upgrade their limits but they haven't which means they can't. Simple.
So basically any EU customer of MTGox is screwed....

What about an international wire transfer?

Hi Thank you Funky Al
Just reading their websites, bit bargain do trade LTC and BTC and they appear to have answered my taxation issue  Sad lol

Its just i read everyone uses OKPAY - hence why i joined them
I haven't paid them any cash yet, so i'll give bitbargain a go  Grin

I'm somewhat concerend that a business account is required and not my account
Probably safer to open an alternate current account with a different bank? (If i'm allowed to!)

Cheers

Wedgy

Another thing you should know, if your money is in $ or € then basically you'll end up taking up to a 10% hit from your banks currency exchange rate when converting back into £s

No, has nothing to do with a Ponzi scheme. And yes, they relay on new customers.

Think about having a trading platform, and one customer gives you 10 BTC. He now can offer this BTC for any price, 500 Euro/BTC for example.

This will not matter as long as you do not find another customer, which gives you Euros. Without Euros no trade.

Two customers have an agreement about the price of one bitcoin, and if they agree they swap the currencies. This has no influence on the assets of the exchange platform, they earn the fees only. And they have to keep the deposits of the customers save and separated from their own assets.

Thanks for the clarification Kneim

Also found out their SEPA limit is only 60,000 euros!

What is the international wire transfer limit?

Think a little more about it. You have a trading platform. Someone gives you 1000 Euro, anotherone 10 BTC. No trade yet.

Now the exchange rate is rising from 100 Euro/BTC to 500 Euro/BTC. Now a trade happens, 2 BTC for 500 Euro each.

There is also 1000 Euro and 10 BTC on your trading platform, as before, nothing really changed for the trading platform (but for the fee).

Offers are possible only for 1000 Euro. Your failure is the 2500 Euro, which does not exist for changing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but does that not just make Mt Gox a Ponzi scheme? Because they have to keep relying on new customers to buy Bitcoins to pay customers who are cashing out?

Furthermore would that explain why it's been over a month now since they confirmed the rumor that they would start trading Litecoins at some point in the future, holding back due to the inevitable that once they start trading Litecoins too then there will be another speculative bubble like there has been in Bitcoins?

Thoughts? MPOE-PR I'd love your opinion too if you come back to this thread

...Why are those impossible?  Many companies ask for notarized translations of foreign documents.

I Googled

Quote
You cannot notarize a document or ID... you can only notarize a SIGNATURE on a document. You must prove to the notary that you are the person named in the document and the notary must personally observe you sign... so..... it can't be done on a government issued ID that has been previously signed.

Trusted is notarized copy of ID with apostille and translation plus UtilityBill and some other stuff.  It is also described in very vague way - so you never know if you did all that is required, not to mention that somethings are impossible - like 'notarized translation' or adding 'notarized for MtGox verification' on the notarized copy of ID.

What is a notarized copy of ID with apostille and translation? Is this for non english documents?

I could imagine that their polish bank account was closed and they just dont put out the news.

It's called VOTOS, a new kind of PR.

At least the funds seem to be safe.

Yes, for as long as you don't try to take them out they're safe.

Otherwise, let me make it plain: All the big players have already left. MtGox is without marketplace support at all currently, it was running a fractional reserve, they *may* be able to bring outside capital to cure their shortfall. Maybe.

In general the slower they get leeched the more likely they are to a) be able to borrow money to make up for outbound payments and b) (erroneously) perceive their brand has a value that justifies this effort (or perhaps more importantly - be able to sell the "brand value" to gullible investors).

In short, MtGox currently is a game of musical chairs and what's being decided is how to split the loss pie between users and investors. Since the sort of retards that'd invest in something like MtGox aren't reading me anyway, the best strategy for users is to slowly get everything out. Too much too fast will likely choke them, too slow might mean you're one of the bagholders, asking about "the liquidation" in a year old thread a year from now, just like the Bitcoinica people. Proceed accordingly.

Could you shed some more details on your claim they are running a fractional reserve atm?

Where would you advise users purchase Bitcoins instead of Mt Gox? Also have the big players moved to?

Also apologises for my ignorance but when you say "MtGox is without marketplace support" what does this mean exactly?

When you say verified - do you mean the 'Verified' level or the 'Trusted' level?

TBH I didn't realize there was a difference?

Verified as in - Provided Passport Photo ID & Utility Bill approved by Mt Gox

What is "Trusted" Level?

Do you mind if I ask what date you signed up and what number you are in the que currently?

Just curious because it took me approximately 13 days to get verified

Get some Litecoins as Mt. Cox is going to start the exchange for them (Ride that bubble). Get some ASICMINER because the ticker will double before next year (Ride some of that bubble but keep some as ASICMINER is the deal here).

I am exactly like you. I even lost all coins I had prior to 2011 crash  (literally Roll Eyes . I bounced back, Big time  Cheesy

Only issue is we don't know when Mt Gox will launch Litecoins, they've been saying it for weeks now!

I still agree though, short term they are worth holding until Mt Gox start trading Litecoins

They want you to specify the limit you want.  You may have reasons for wanting the limit to be lower than the maximum allowed by MtGox for a verified account.

Ahhh, see why can't they just say that so I don't have to ask silly questions on this forum and waste peoples time Smiley

Thanks for the reply Repentance, much appreciated!

Increasing Mt Gox Withdraw Limit?
by

on 06/05/2013, 00:02:55 UTC
Once I got verified on Mt Gox I got an email stating

Quote
We are pleased to inform you that the identification documentation you have submitted has been reviewed, and your account has been upgraded to "Verified" status.

If you would like to request a withdrawal limit increase (up to 10x your current daily limit, and up to 5x your current monthly limit), please reply back to this email with the below.

Wallet (BTC/USD/ETC):

New Daily Limit:

Wallet (USD/EUR/ETC):

New Monthly Limit:

What information do they want me to provide here?

Do I need to provide Wallet information etc? I'm a little confused as clearly what I want is the current limitations removed and increased to 10 times daily and 5 times monthly increases

Also I have another question

1) Where is your staff located? According to your registered business address - 5 JUPITER HOUSE
CALLEVA PARK, ALDERMASTON

http://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/ltd/bitstamp

According to that, it's just a mail forwarding address as 3,451 companies also use this postcode

2) How many staff do you currently have working at Bitstamp Limited?

We always do our best do process withdrawal requests on the same business day or on the next however this a bit harder to know in advance and can on a rare occasion require more time.

I sent you this email, if you could reply to it here or via email I'd really appreciate it

I'd like to use your service for purchasing Bitcoins but I'd like to know if you can provide any evidence that you comply with EU Anti Money Laundering regulations?

The reason I ask is because the most previous EU exchange Bitcoin-24 wasn't in compliance with AML EU regulations, didn't require any proof or verification from it's users and as we all know it was shut down by the authorities.

Your service gets good reviews but I refuse to use a service until I'm satisfied that you're not just a fly by night one man operation and will be here today and gone tomorrow.

I sent a previous email questioning why your bank is based in Slovenia that was unanswered, again I'd appreciate a response to why you're banking in Slovenia versus a more secure banking region like Germany etc

Re: BITSTAMP - does anyone know the arrangement they have with banks?
by
Paul89273

yeah good point, but Bitstamp's service is great... very professional.

They did recently change their bank account so I assume that's them keeping their eye on the ball - but I need to know before I keep trading there... all BTC are in wallet for now tucked away

Will look at Bitcoin.de thanks

TBH I think every exchange is a risk, I'm sure it's nice getting prompt replies compared to Mt Gox or BTC-e but

The reason why I didn't use Bitstamp is because I sent them an email asking about their bank agreements, I wanted more details and didn't get a reply. I could have been unlucky I guess but no reply = no business.

As I mentioned, I don't like the fact they bank in Slovenia.

BTW Bitcoin.de just announced they are in talks with their bank to see if customers can have bank accounts linked to their Bitcoins so that you have full control of your assets. THIS would be a major step forward! Announcement could be a couple of weeks away though, very professional setup over there! I've been very pleased so far.

Re: bitcoinity.org Matrix Gif - Anyone Else Seen This Before?
by
Paul89273
on 19/04/2013, 16:25:25 UTC
Bitcoinity has humor. They post several funny gifs  when they feel like it. The first time I experienced it, I thought I had a virus!

I dig the Matrix analogy: Being the one as being able to see through the code, this sense of of insight you get once in a while where the numbers and experience converge and you know what the price will be in ten minutes, an hour and next week Cheesy

Bitcoinity has various backgrounds/effects which are displayed based on triggers.  I haven't seen the Matrix one yet.  Something in the data (volume, price action, etc) must have triggered it.

There is no vulnerability or security flaw.  Maybe Bitcoinity should have a "? What just happened link" when those special effects occur.

That's a big relief! Thanks for posting guys!

I thought it was cool and funny when it appeared but then my paranoia set in LOL
