Re: Hashkings Lending, Deposits, and Escrow Services(New 8 week deposit rate)
by

I'm interested in lending out BTC 50 under the conditions of the 8 week 3.5%. Two questions, though:

  • After the 8 weeks, what happens? I get the 50 back?
  • I take it interest payment will be weekly?
  • will you (have you already) disclose(d) your identity publicly and/or to me personally?

1)After 8 week you will receive the 50 back with all your interest.  This special locks you in for 8 weeks so there is no weekly interest payments.
2)I have not disclosed my identity publicly.

I have reasons to believe that this is Sonny Vleisides of BFL.

You are incorrect. If the picture that has been shown on forums is truly Sonny, hashking is not Sonny.
I thought hashking had already been doxed.  He is a greek guy (or at least of greek descent).  He runs a Real Estate office somewhere Northern Illinois if I remember correctly. I want to say Rockford, but I don't think that's right. Maybe Woodstock/Freeport? I actually had a bunch of info I had provided to someone on forum to help track him down.  Not sure whatever happened to that stuff.

Re: Novello Technologies new Mining System Project, prices as low as $0.3/GH

(snip)
For any competent electronic engineer, our fault tolerance approach should be a dead giveaway as to the environment it came from, as should the fact that we've put a 32 bit microcontroller on each hashing module that will constantly test and rotate the pipelines to ensure data coherency, AND allows them to self test before they get bolted into a machine. That type of system approach doesn't come out of thin air, yet draws no comment, nor does our comments about product engineering.
(/snip)

I read thru your proposal, and some sections (including 4.5) several times. The "fault tolerant" approach did catch my eye, seeing as I came from a similar design environment.  I tend to read more than shoot my mouth off, so I didn't really think to comment.  Please forgive my fellow bitcoin enthusiasts, but you'll have to agree that any ASIC manufacturer not only has to prove their own mettle, but also overcome the stigma the majority of every ASIC manufacturer that has come before them.  Just take a quick look at the "scam accusations" subforum and you'll understand.

I wish you good luck in your endeavour and will be watching closely.  God knows the bitcoin space needs more honest and on-time delivery of mining hardware.

ROI is possible if BTC reach USD 850 and above.

Why not just buy BTC then?  You'll make a better return.  Wink

The cost of the miner in BTC goes down as the price of BTC goes up. That's why it helps ROI. On batch 2 the BTC price was dropping during the sale period so the ROI got worse the longer you waited to buy.

people need to stop looking at it this way.  it just doesn't make sense.  the machine mines btc not fiat.

capital investment in btc, return in btc.  If it doesn't make financial sense looking at it this way, factoring in fiat exchange rate to make the investment look better is bullshit. The "improvement" in the return because you include the fiat exchange rate of BTC, doesn't make the investment viable.  You may as well skip the hassle of buying and maintaining the hardware and avoiding the electric costs and simply buy the btc and sit on it. This is what I believe is the number one mistake newbies (and some not-so-newbies) make when they are calculating the return on their btc hardware.  The one and only reason I bought the hardware is to continue my involvement in the btc community and support decentralization of btc mining.  I just wish that it didn't cost so much to support my habit. ASIC manufacturers are making a killing selling this stuff to people that think they are going to find gold (ala 1849).  Again, I have to emphasize to everyone thinking they are going to buy hardware and make btc, the risk of the unknown future difficulty is not worth the measly return you think you are going to get but more likely probably won't. If you want to support the bitcoin network, buy bitcoin and spend it on things you normally would buy with fiat at vendors that accept bitcoin.  This will do more to support bitcoin than purchasing a piece of bitcoin mining hardware.  If you realize you won't make a return on your hardware purchase, but are buying it to be involved in the community and support the network, etc, etc.. then go ahead and buy one.

Disclaimer: I am an S2 Batch 1 customer and I do not expect any of the S2s I purchased to ROI. I paid a bit over 6BTC per unit. I don't expect the hardware to make more than 5.75btc/unit before the end of October, by which time the amount of btc this generates will be miniscule.

Okay, Captain Justice here… The only two who didn’t receive at least partial correction are gjpminingco and Mayblaubaer a.k.a. “shady blackmailing club”.

Incorrect..

Don’t get me wrong guys, I do not approve this kind of action delay from 50BTC either, but at least they’ve started to do something and people ARE receiving so called corrections. (partial or full)

You are wrong..  I'm owed approximately 15btc that was mined over several days.  50BTC can easily confirm my rather long history of twice daily payouts that stopped on October 17, 2013.  I left my miners on the pool for several days after being unable to withdraw hoping/assuming it was a temporary glitch. I pulled my entire farm off the pool 5 days later. I have emailed support@50btc.com and have not received a satisfactory response.

Considering the thread was kept alive and not marked as a scam when they had done *nothing* after 3 months, good luck.

If you don't think 50BTC is a scam, consider one important fact:  It took them over 3 months to do *anything* after the "hack".  ANY pool, even the ones that charge no fee and are run as a hobby, would have taken action within a week.  That action could have been a shutdown, or correcting the problem, or posting the truth about what happened and how they plan to move forward to eventually make an attempt at repaying their debts.  50BTC has done none of that, and it is now 4 months since the "hack".

+1  and the fact that the OP has yet to be marked a scammer even after I properly followed forum guidelines on reporting a scam leads me to believe that the forum administration is not interested in following up on this situation.

Guys if 50BTC are been honest.. And i think they are... the best thing we can do is mine with them so they can earn back the BTC they owe us, and return it..
Think about it seriously... Why would one of the most profitable pools go rogue??? Doesn't make sense..  And still they are in contact..

IMO we need to just give them time and support so they can fix the issues, earn some coin, and hopefully give us the coins back.
But keep in mind if they are legit, it WILL take alot of hard work to calculate everyone's missing BTC..

Gotta wonder how many sock puppet accounts 50btc has..  Grin

PSA: Please don't mine at this pool.

The pool operator(s) are/is not being truthful and forthright.  With all the other pool options available out there to mine with, why in the world would you consider mining on this pool.  They've disappeared with miners' coins once.  They obviously have no remorse for having done it, ergo they'd be more than willing to do it again.

Also,  if you've lost btc mined at 50btc please post in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=359277.0

Thank you.

I got to say, I'm stunned at the amount of btc people are leaving with pools.  I have to think that people leaving that amount of coin in the hands of pools and their pool operators is part of the reason for pools being able to pull off shit like this.  Hasn't anyone heard of daily withdrawals?

- why are they communicating at all (through Bitcointalk status updates, Skype etc.) ? If it was a scam they could’ve just shut everything down and disappear. There is no logic here.  Maybe they’ve frozen payments and using our funds on mtgox, btce or smth.

classic scam tactic.  many scammers do this.  I'd refer you to pirateat40.

- probably their brand due to the large amount of users is worth much more than they’ve lost during the hack, so there is no point in leaving such product behind.

Now you are just being silly.  Do you have any idea how much they walked off with?

JackPatrick,

Based on your post history, I have to surmise you are a 50btc shill? Sorry.. I have no loyalties to any pool.

Give me a fucking break with that excuse 50BTC.  Have you lost your login/password to this forum too?

[SCAMMER] 50BTC.com

What happened::

50BTC.com (member) ran 50BTC.com mining pool.  On about October 18 2013 the pool stopped payouts of mining earnings.  Suspiciously, this was right after an announcement that they would be switching to DGM reward method from PPS.  50BTC.com (member) has not been on the forum since October 28, 2013. 50BTC.com claims pool was conveniently hacked and all mining earnings were lost.  Lack of communication and avoiding questions from pool members makes the situation appear very fishy.
