So this is what I am using to run 6 at 243.75Mhz for about 150GH/s - 85 Watts at the wall.
I also put small fans on each stick.

As I discovered with my 7-port, 60W charging hub from Plugable -- pop it open and look at how the power is distributed.

On the Plugable, it takes 12vdc in and has 3 buck regulators taking that down to 5v  for the USB plugs. That said... 1 regulator feeds ports 1 & 2, the 2nd regulator feeds ports 3 & 4, the 3rd feeds ports 5-7. See where this is going?

Given that you can only use 3 ports, do you still need 60W or is the 25W unit acceptable.  I would be using the Pluggable 7 port hub to run a couple 2PAC sticks and I can order 2 Pluggable 25W units for the price of the 60W unit.

CreativeReef

Not sure anyone has cracked open the smaller 25W unit to see how many voltage regulators it has. The 60w one has 3 shared between 2 ports, 2 ports, 3 ports so we know how it works. The 25w may only have 1 regulator that splits up the current between all ports which could mean drops for the 2Pac sticks if running more than 1. All depends on how they are set up.

Thanks for this. Have the same hub.
Question: Any luck chaining them together? I have 4 2pac's and have been trying to get the 4th to keep running but no matter what powered hub I try it runs for a few hours then stops.

I ask because I am using a RPi W with one USB port.

Thanks

No, running on a windows server so plenty of USB ports. I do have one of these that I run 3 Pod miners through (non powered) and it works great.
https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Mountable-Rugged-Industrial-Port/dp/B003AVPUZG
(cracked open the above linked hubs and they only have 2 regulators in them so 2 sticks max no matter how much power you put into it)

I would try a good non powered 2.0 hub plugged into your RPi then 2 of the Plugables powered hubs into that - 2 sticks each Plugable hub. If you already have another powered hub then try both of those into the basic hub, see if that gets you any farther without a drop.

We've lowered the price for brand new individual AntMiner V9s to match Bitmain's pricing @ $291.00 each on our Amazon store with free shipping within the US. We also have them on eBay for $309.00 each and our own site for $291.00 each (for crypto payments and international orders).

Awesome. Ty.
Perfect for hobby miners, schools to use as a teaching tool and those with .05/KWh or less.

Does anybody know of these use voltage regulators/buck for the chip voltage or are they set up with string voltage like the S5 was. If using string voltage you can use a step down buck converter on the out of the PSU to run them at a slightly less voltage (11.0v-11.7v) and under clock for better efficiency/heat/noise.

Something like this
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0747QDRW9/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You would have to use 3 of them (1 to each blade) and under clock but could see some power savings. Just a theory.

Question for Sidehack and I think I know the answer (regulator limit).

So the S5 with the BM1384 chips has a setting for the frequency and it goes all the way up to 500Mhz! I run one but very underclocked.  That must mean the 1384 chip can handle that with proper cooling and enough stable voltage/current. The terminus for me starts to become unstable at 250Mhz and I am guessing that is because of the voltage regulator. I mean that sucker gets hot at 225Mhz but if we had a way to cool it could we go higher or is there a specific limit to the current it will allow which is why the posted power table stops at 275Mhz.

Just curious is all.
Thank you

Sounds like the right way to go and that power set up should be more than sufficient. I clocked at just under 60 watts each around that frequency. Let us know what you find and I have 2 plugged into a USB controller then the Windows server.

Somebody had asked how to set up more than one Terminus on a single power supply. Here is a pic of mine running on a 200 watt adjustable supply using the PCIe connectors (very solid connection). Testing with a small fan mounted over the Regulator on the right one to keep it cool.
237.50Mhz / 98-103GH/s each.

hello,

how are you getting more gh/s than me when i clock mine higher than yours? https://i.imgur.com/4NoB85b.jpg

is it just my luck on the with the chip draw or is it something of my doing?? thanks in advance Smiley

I did notice a slight increase when I switched to the PCIe connector instead of the barrel connector. More stable current to the chips maybe?
It also does fluctuate for me but not that low and the fact that all of  yours are around the the high 80GH/s to low 90GH/s would not mean "luck of the draw". I would try to separate just one miner on it's own system/controller to see what it ramps up to. That way you can rule out that it's the POD but maybe the controller.

I asked Eyeboot about it, he's gonna send me some samples to play with. He says they aren't as good, won't clock up as high.

Would rather support your work anyway especially with your dedication/support and new projects going on. These new TTBit sticks don'e exist to me.

Is anyone having cgminer 4.10 cpu load go way up? If I leave it on for 12 hours or more, CPU pegs at 75%. I have 10 2Pac Gekko & 1 Termins R808 running.

Going back to Apr 2017 version of cgminer 4.10 I don't have this issue.

Memory leak perhaps?

Going to guess you are running on windows?

I run 4 CGMiner windows (latest build) with different groups of USB sticks/pods so I can monitor them as workers with Slushpool.
About 2k memory per instance and 00-04% CPU load each, running on Server 2008R2. I do have a schedule batch file to kill all CGMiners and restart every hour though so not the best "always on" candidate here. The restart fixes the random USB stick that might have quit working.

You are running the same as me minus 1 pod. I have 10 x 2pac and 2 x Terminus.
Let me know if you want me to help with the batch files for killing / restarting.

Quick comparison - Terminus R808 vs 2 Pac Sticks - Power usage.

It may be the power supplies I am using but the comparison is:

1 x Pod @ 237.50 Mhz    -
58.6 Watts
100-104 Gh/s

4 x 2Pac @ 237.50 Mhz
74 Watts
98-106 Gh/s

I run 10 2Pacs but am thinking . . . .  More Pods Please!

But even so, then just jump to a 750Watt, its still the same common slot power supply, still under $40 https://www.amazon.com/HP-599383-001-Common-Platinum-Supply/dp/B00719064I/

How is the noise on the power supply fan?

How would I run multiple Terminus R808 using the one power supply?

I tried running stock at 300Mhz, and it kept downclocking to 200Mhz and moving between 200-300Mhz. I seem to get more stable hash rate (~85GH/s) leaving it at 200Mhz.

Depends on how many you want to run. You could run 2 off of this with no noise from the Power Supply with some good efficiency.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XRBN2L3/ref=twister_B0753BTC3Z?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I would also grab some of the PCIe connectors. Much better power connection than the barrel connector.

Here is a pic of two hooked up to mine and minimal noise really from the pods.

I've never successfully run one above 275MHz, and I built the thing. 300MHz, unless you get lucky with the chips and can tweak the voltage down (or keep that regulator module cold), is probably unattainable.

If you see an unexpected drop to 200MHz that means the string locked up and reset, which took the chips back to default speed and cgminer started ramping it back up to your setpoint.

Thanks for that and kind of figured that's what was going on.  So far the 237.50 Mhz is very stable and produces 100-104Gh/s all day with a good power supply and doesn't get too hot. I've never seen 275Mhz on mine but don't need to either. Wink

ok, I just re-read your post above, so your saying your pulling 60 Watt at the wall, and getting 80% efficiency at the power brick? 60Watt -> 48watt (225Mhz)?

Close. The power brick is 72 watt at 6 amp and yeah pulling 58.4 watts per pod at 225Mhz. The 750 would run at a better efficiency for sure. I'm at 123 watt for 2 pods on a 150 watt supply but it's getting too warm so I might go higher. Good Luck and let us know how it works out.

I need to order a new GekkoScience Break Out Board but I want to give a 460W Common Slot a try. theoretically, it could run around 9 pods with 90% efficiency.
https://www.amazon.com/HP-Common-Platinum-Power-Supply/dp/B00TJI311E

I am seeing about 60 watts total per pod (10-14 just running and not hashing) so that would be 540 watts total for 9 pods. So to run at 80% capacity you would be able to run 6 pods for 360 watts.

Awesome. Thanks 419M that does help and confirm what I am getting also.

I can't get past 225Mhz on the 6A brick that came with it but it does seem to running pretty well though at 225.
For my other one I am experimenting with a more efficient and stronger supply and have it running at 237.50Mhz for just over 100Ghz which is my goal for each Pod.
http://preview.ibb.co/cUPzqH/Term2_237.jpg

It is a 150Watt 12V supply with voltage adjustment. The one on the left is using the PCIe-6 connector and the barrel still on the right. The barrel won't supply as much reliably so I am going to convert that one also to see if I can run them both a little higher.

Using 123 watts with 1 running at 237.50Mhz and 1 running at 225Mhz
https://i.imgur.com/rjWuBRS.jpg

Just for info, these pods seem to run at frequencies in 6.25Mhz frequency (just like the antminer S3s and S5s) which is a function of the 1384 chips in the Terminus and looks like VH has support for those frequencies as well in CGMiner (thank you sir!!) So here is a list of frequencies to try if you want to test and push just a little bit more. I can't get either of my pods to run at 250 Mhz even using the PCIe plug and the 150 watt supply by itself. The most I can get is 243.75. Will test some more when I get time but I have a feeling its a limitation of the voltage regulator. Solid build Sidehack so thank you and not complaining at all just testing the limits for the ones I received.

200 Mhz
206.25 Mhz
212.50 Mhz
218.75 Mhz
225 Mhz
231.25 Mhz
237.50 Mhz
243.75 Mhz
250 Mhz
256.25 Mhz
262.50 Mhz
268.75 Mhz
275 Mhz

Hope that helps somebody out.

Is anyone able to run their Pod(s) at 250Mhz reliably? How about 225mhz?

If you are running at 250Mhz what power supply and additional cooling are you using if any.
Thank You!
