[UNSOLVED] WEX.NZ IS RESETING YOUR ACCOUNT TO 0 BALANCE AFTER VERIFIED
by

Hello everyone,

As of some days ago, If your account has been locked before 2016 due to inactivity, after you unlock it, your balance will be reduced to 0. You'll have to send them an actual screenshot of when you could see your balance to restore the funds to your account. There has been numerous reports both on reddit and on their own Telegram group chat.

What I'm trying to figure is if that is deliberate or an unknown/accidental bug in their system. Either way they haven't made any proper announcement.

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/wex/comments/74iam6/wex_verified_now_account_empty/

This is what they will reply to you:

"Thank you for contacting the WEX Exchange Support Service. We do not have data on deposits and deductions from the previous site only on current balances. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us."
"We informed in the news that we don't possess historical data on transaction and orders of the old platform, that's why we cannot approve or deny your words about funds deposit. The funds were credited to the new platform WEX.nz in the amount shown in your profile. During the period after BTCE closing and before WEX opening, all transactions were fulfilled out of control of the old platform as well out of control of the new one."

This case only happens if you had an account prior to 2016 suspended, and now activated again (through the verification process).

Here we go again... The kind of procedure is exactly the same. They ( @WEX-OFFICIAL ) make you wait for days without end, close your tickets, and when you make another one they ignore it or (insert: loop) just close it once again.

It's the same modus operandi of former BTC-e, and I dare to say it's the same incompetent staff.

- Txid --> ........

Now they ask me for a blockchain transaction (Txid) of almost 4 years old in order to unblock my account....... How should I proceed, as I might have found it, yet I am everything but 100% sure that it is the correct one? I believe that if it is the wrong one they will delete it entirely.. Maybe they will unblock it when their new ticket system is online, as they are closely being monitored? It must already be evident to them that I am the one and only owner of the account and that they are solely ask questions in order to keep the funds.

I have also read elsewhere on this forum that no one could be suspended on legal ground as it wasn't even in the terms of use back in the day.

I appreciate each and every response, thank you!

I won't lie. The situation isn't good, particularly due to the recent FBI seizure. There have been a handful of similar complaints over the past year, so you aren't alone. Unfortunately, I haven't heard that there was a favorable resolution in most of these cases. I don't think their actions here were necessarily nefarious: they had a rash of account compromises (likely linked to the database leak years ago), so they started locking inactive accounts, believing they were likely to become hacked.

What did they ask for, specifically? The transaction which funded your account? Did they want you to sign a message from the funding address?

The site is up on btc-e.nz now. The ticket system is apparently online, and you can submit your inquiry there.

It's going to turn 2 years since I'm trying to recover my account. I do have every bit of information they required, including a former verification on their partners on my original email.

They completely ignored me.

On a side, where exactly did you see the ticket system on btc-e.nz? Can't seem to find it.

Greek police arrested a Russian man suspected of running a money laundering operation involving turning $4 billion from illicit business activities into the digital currency bitcoin, they said on Wednesday.

Police did not name the 38-year-old, who was arrested in the northern Greek region of Chalkidiki on Monday on a U.S. warrant.

He is suspected of heading a criminal organization since 2011 that "owns, operates and manages one of the world's leading e-crime websites", police said in a statement.

I don't think btc-e will ever be able to recover from this If this man is the owner/partner of btc-e.com. He is in the hands of the secret service now.

"operates and manages one of the world's leading e-crime websites" This sentence alone guarantees that any money on btc-e is seized by the FEDs already.

Had some more thoughts on the subject.

Maybe he was caught long before this and he made a deal with the secret service. That's why btc-e tried to collect every private information they can from its users. They were trying to have a list of their users so they can share it with the FEDs.

And the money... They were never going to give them back.

If that's true, then I think it's for the better. I have more chances in recovering what's mine through the system (even tho it'll be a lengthily process) than trying to recover through BTC-e.

Re: [SCAM][UNSOLVED] BTC-E.COM REFUSING TO UNLOCK MY ACCOUNT (thousands of dollars)
by
Steven009
on 25/07/2017, 03:19:29 UTC
my story:

I didn't access my btc-e account as well for over one year.

1. got asked by btc-e to provide transaction history - provided
2. got asked to create and verify my account with xbtce - account created, verification attempted
3. xbtce asks me for ID and proof of address - provided via upload
4. xbtce asks me for notary certified ID and proof of address as well as income statement from my employer as "proof of income" - provided
5. now after more than 10 days waiting after the last upload they ask me to send all the notary certified documents to a shady address in Malaysia:

"To complete verification of your account please send notarized copies by post to address
27.03, 27th floor, Menara TA One # 22 Jalan P Ramlee, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,
postal/zip code 50250
Contact person: Amnah Othman
+603 21 637777
fax + 603 21 633878"

so, I am fed up now after several months back and forth. I have offered them to contact me and to use other ways to 100% verify my identity. If any at all I get standard responses and long wait times before the next "idea" they come up with to keep me waiting to access my funds.

Anyone who already started legal or other significant actions besides filing the UK internet fraud form please pm me, so we can coordinate

My situation is pretty similar, except that I actually sent the documents to that address.

My account was verified after they received my physical copies notarized. And now, around just 2 days later after I contacted BTC-e telling them the "good" news, my account was reversed back to "Not Verified".

Their explanation?

"To complete verification of your account, please provide us with a notarized copy of a source of funds declaration equal to your deposit amount.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Support Team."

Can someone even try to explain to me what they're requesting here? I, honestly, don't know exactly what they're asking.

They take ages to reply, and sometimes they just ignore them completely.

What is the latest with this?

They have requested me to send all documents notarized by mail (physical copies) to some random address in Malaysia.

That was a request from BTC-e to xBTCe. So basically they're the same shit with a different smell.

But I'll send the physical copies.

They (xBTCE) are requesting the same exact documents every time, just so they can reject them after submission. They even had me notarize my passport, utility bill and confirmation of income from employer.

They're just as bad as BTC-e, if not the same entity.

Have you considered taking a legal advice? It won't be easy, as (afaik) it's not clear where their principal place of business is located and whether the reported owners are real people. But at very least, you could get the authorities to block their website in your country, that's better than nothing. You should give them a clear deadline to get it sorted. Frankly, it doesn't look like they're willing to resolve it.

Fun fact is, they gave me an alternative way of verifying my account through xbtce.com, which I did (it became verified).

Since yesterday they reversed their decision and requested more "documentation", as per BTC-e request.

And once again I submitted new documents.

Hi there,

I'm in a similar situation, trying to unlock my btc-e account after a few years of inactivity. I bought a few litecoins and then left them on the exchange. After a frustrating and slow email exchange with BTC-e, they now no longer reply to my emails. I've no idea where to go with this. I've no idea why they'd lock my account like this when all I've done is not use their exchange for a while. They asked me to send them high res scans of my passport, but not only does that sound shady (I don't think I ever sent them copies of my passport to verify against in the first place??) but I've seen on other threads that this doesn't actually get you anywhere anyway.

I'm still using the same email address, I just don't understand their behaviour, is this just a case of me being scammed? Its only a small amount of coins, but the principle is bothering me. If a major exchange is doing this, then it really makes me think twice about the future of crypto currency.

Any advice or details of similar situations would be great, thank you in advance for your help!

Update: xbtce.com support were amazing and very fast in replying (+proper english). But btc-e.com is going in circles again with me, even after I've officially verified, as per their instructions and TOS, my account with their partners. This is ridiculous.
