Oliver meets the Bitcoin Foundation Gang.
by
Xtib
on 06/04/2015, 05:16:44 UTC

Another exciting episode brought to us by Oliver-----

During his journey to London, Oliver encounters the Bitcoin Foundation , a group of pickpockets more commonly known by the nickname the "Artful Dodgers", but Oliver's innocent nature prevents him from recognising this hint that the Bitcoin Foundation may be dishonest.
Oliver unwittingly falls in with an infamous criminal known as Karpeles, the so-called gentleman of whom the Artful Dodgers spoke. Ensnared, Oliver lives with Karpeles and his gang of juvenile pickpockets in their lair for some time, unaware of their criminal occupations. He believes they make wallets, handkerchiefs and promote cryptocurrency.

Oliver realizes too late that their real mission is to pick pockets!

On the other hand, Oliver—who has an air of refinement proves to be of gentle birth. Although he has been abused and neglected all his life, he recoils, aghast, at the idea of victimising anyone else. This apparently hereditary gentlemanliness makes Oliver something of a changeling tale, not just an indictment of social injustice. Oliver, born for better things, struggles to survive in the savage world of the underclass before finally being rescued by his family and returned to his proper place—a commodious country house.

Well done Oliver!

Bitcoin Foundation claims individual members voted unanimously for Brock Pierce.

Ten members have expressed a desire to resign their membership - out of a community of 1500+ .... this does not even amount to ONE PERCENT OF OUR MEMBERSHIP. The thread has been closed, it has not been removed, or censored.

This community HAS spoken, and their voice, overwhelmingly, is in favor of Brock Pierce. Those that continue to harp on the issue are doing more damage to the community and the future of Bitcoin than Brock Pierce has done, or will do.

https://bitcoinfoundation.org/forum/index.php?/topic/965-brocks-rebuttal/

The Bitcoin Foundation now appears to be claiming that they had an open election for Brock. The individual members had their chance to vote on the issue and only 10 voted to resign. The foundation claims this demonstrates an overwhelming support for Brock and the issue is now closed.

Why we're individual members only given the option to resign or shut up and stay as their ballot choices?
Have the 1500 individual members been represented fairly by the foundation.
Was the option to resign a valid measure of the intent of the individual members?

Does Brock Pierce have consensus of the Bitcoin Community to represent it?
by
Xtib
on 20/05/2014, 00:42:24 UTC

Brock Pierce has posted a rebuttal to the allegations made against him. He claims that they are without merit and aimed to unfairly discredit him.

Brock is claiming that his successful election to the board of the Bitcoin Foundation is proof enough that he is a valued and trusted member of the Bitcoin community as a whole. In fact, he claims to represent 127,000 members of the community in the MTGox fiasco.

Is that true? It seems that his victory was a mere single vote over the next leading contestant. This in a vast field of 71 voters. Is this really representative of the community that he has called on to trust him?
I would propose that in light of the feedback from the community that Brock offer to open the vote to the whole community and not just a few elite members.

Yes, Brock and Vinny should have a special election open to the full community. That is the only way to assure that the Brock has the necessary consensus to lead.

Regarding resignations from the foundation:

We accept resignation emails sent to either membership@bitcoinfoundation.org or to the secretary of the foundation, elizabeth@bitcoinfoundation.org , and they will be forwarded to me for removal from the forums and the homepage membership list.

To date, two members have fulfilled this requirement and been removed from our databases.

If you want to resign your membership, please follow the protocol, and send an email to the above provided addresses, and your request will be carrried out.

After a week of effort the reasonably intelligent at the Bitcoin Foundation have hammered out a new
protocol for resignation.

Is the Bitcoin Foundation behind the disappearance of Satoshi Nakamoto?
by
Xtib
on 16/05/2014, 15:18:45 UTC
Satoshi Nakamoto is the true father of the Bitcoin movement to create a decentralized currency. After spending years working on his project he writes a paper describing the essence of a revolutionary new protocol.
Gavin Andresen aka Gavin Bell began working with Satoshi to optimize the protocol for the masses.

During this time another shady character, Mark Karpeles, uproots his life in France and decides to move to Japan and start an internet company. Why Japan? Shortly after he arrives in Japan Mark buys majority ownership in MTGox.  By that time MTGox is trading in Bitcoin and under Mark's control evolves into the world's largest Bitcojn trading platform.

But where is Satoshi Nakamoto? As the Bitcoin phenomena takes off we are told that Satoshi gives Gavin the alert key to the technology and somehow gives the rights to the Bitcoin name to a Mark Karpeles.

At least that is what we are told by Gavin and Mark. I guess we should take their word for it.

Satoshi Nakamoto subsequently disappeared never to be heard from again. Mark and Gavin founded the Bitcoin Foundation and have made millions leading and misleading newbies into a MTGox.

We now Know around 0.5 Billion dollars has disappeared. They seem to have a knack for making things disappear. Some call it transaction malleability...........What would you call it?

Hello all,

My name is Kevin Beardsley, and I am the new Director of Membership at the Bitcoin Foundation.

I know I speak for everybody at the Bitcoin Foundation in saying "Thank you". Your work, enthusiasm, and commitment is core to Bitcoin's success. And while we haven't always done a good job of communicating it, we greatly appreciate your support.

My mission is to work with you to bring a new level of transparency and collaboration to the Bitcoin Foundation membership.  We will achieve this by taking a page from bitcoin itself - we will focus our efforts on developing the structures, processes and incentives to encourage collaborative creation.

Toward that end, we have spent the past weeks listening. Listening to understand what is causing friction, listening to what creates great outcomes, and listening to how we can better support you.

I'd rather keep this email short and let our actions do the talking over the coming weeks and months.

So, on behalf of the entire Bitcoin Foundation we would like to say "Thank you for your support."   And stay tuned...

Cheers,
Kevin

Is the Bitcoin Foundation a zombie organization?
by
Xtib
on 12/05/2014, 21:15:51 UTC
It is curious that only a handful of people have shown up on the Bitcoin Foundation website to resign from or defend the
foundation. Is it possible that most of the names listed on the Bitcoin Foundations member page are zombie members?

I deeply respect Patrick for publicly stating his concerns regarding the Bitcoin Foundation and essentially igniting a well needed debate. However, could most of the members have already left , quietly, in disgust and without fanfare long ago?

It could be that the Bitcoin Foundation has steered the elections to industry members only because most of the non-industry members are zombies. It would look pretty bad if only 24 individual members voted out of 1500.

I think the Bitcoin Foundation needs to have a public roll call and remove any zombie member names from their web page. Truth in advertising.

Do you feel safe with Brock Pierce gaining access to your personal data?
by

Do you want Brock to buy all of your personal data for 1 BTC through the MTGox bankruptcy court?

He will gain access to your passports, drivers licenses, bank information etc. Should someone who flees to a different country and is arrested by Interpol be entrusted with such sensitive info?

Oh. Don't worry. SaveGox is going to work diligently to make sure only NON fraudulent Gox creditors are fully reimbursed.

Yeah. Right.

Brock Pierce implies Bitcoin Foundation resigned unintelligent.
by
Xtib
on 11/05/2014, 18:20:13 UTC

Brock Pierce explains in his infomercial how the controversy surrounding him is "Old News". Fifteen years old he says dismissing its importance or relevance. Unfortunately, he claims he us not at liberty to discuss it.
In other words just take my word for it because my investors have no problems with me and they are reasonably intelligent.

In other words he is calling out anyone in the Bitcoin community as unintelligent unless they just take his word on something his is not at liberty to discuss.

Notice the SaveGox T-shirt. Another scam where he is using the creditors money as a bounty to search for the criminals that absconded with the fist and bitcoins. How much of the creditors money will be left after the bounty is paid out? Zero?

This appears to be a plan to use the communities money to fund his startup of a new exchange. We might get some free coupons.

Bitcoin Foundation members are resigning!
by
Xtib
on 10/05/2014, 16:18:08 UTC
Quote
Unfortunately I must resign as an individual member of the Bitcoin Foundation.  Reasons are many, but the following are salient:
Charlie Shrem engaging in alleged money laundering and associated crimes.
Mark Karpeles misappropriating people's money to the tune of millions.
Brock Pierce being associated with alleged pedophilia. (Now newly elected to an industry seat)
This is not the direction this foundation needs to take.  The foundation members need to emulate very high moral values and ethics in business and in personal dealings, especially as it involves money.  So far, the track record of prominent Bitcoin Foundation members has been abysmal.  I know that most foundation members are probably swell people and are not like this.  However, the acts of a few, have overshadowed us all unfortunately.

I no longer want to be associated with these people.

It is my wish that as the Bitcoin Foundation lay in ashes, another organization can rise up from these ashes and take its proper place representing the great idea that is bitcoin.

I would also like to thank all the hard work and volunteers who have coded Bitcoin Core, various other projects, and came up with some very creative ideas to deal with various problems.  You are awesome.

Goodbye and Best Wishes,

Patrick

Does the Bitcoin Foundation promote pluralistic ignorance?
by
Xtib
on 06/05/2014, 17:31:50 UTC

It appears the the officious martinets at the Bitcoin Foundation subscribe to the concept "Spiral of Silence" laid out by Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann. This is what led to the failure of their organization to address the MTGox fiasco before and after it's fall from grace.
If you remember, Marie Karpeles was a board member of the Bitcoin Foundation and the officious martinet of MTGox. Now we hear that a new board member may bring MTGox back to the foundation. Is this a Marie Karpeles redux?

The "Spiral of Silence" at the Bitcoin Foundation has left the majority of the 1500 members deaf, dumb and blind. Essentially sheep waiting to be fleeced.

Would you trust the Bitcoin foundation to offer an enterprise iPhone app?
by
Xtib
on 24/03/2014, 19:55:03 UTC

It looks like the Bitcoin foundation is preparing an enterprise version app for the iPhone.

https://bitcoinfoundation.org/forum/index.php?/topic/847-soft-hack-around-apples-bitcoin-ban/

This means that the Bitcoin foundation will be responsible for the quality and security of the app.
Their app will not be tested by Apple and will not be available in the Apple app store.

Would you trust an app delivered to your iPhone in this ad hoc way? The Bitcoin foundation app would be
similar as to what is offered from a bank on the link below.

http://www.apple.com/iphone/business/profiles/standard-chartered/

You would have to be an employee or member of the Bitcoin foundation to be able to receive the app.

Does this sound appealing or not?

Re: Declaration of Robert Marie Mark Karples

Thanks for that link.

I am not sure any of Mark's filings( debtor-in-possession status, restraining order) would hold up in court if challenged.

It is very clear that on Feb. 23, 2014, as Mark was filing bankruptcy documents, Mark was transferring our assets internationally to his cohorts at the Bitcoin foundation.

The court in Japan had taken Mark on his word that he is trying to protect his creditors rights and needs "breathing room" to reorganize and make his creditors whole again.

In the same breath, Mark used the registrar , 1API GmbH, to transfer www.bitcoinfoundation.org to his buddies in the US.  Subsequently, Mark's connection to the Bitcoin foundation was erased and hidden from the courts in Japan and the US. What are they trying to hide?

We do not know how many of our bitcoins were transferred along with the domain name to the Bitcoin foundation. I believe the US courts would have the right to freeze all assets of the Bitcoin Foundation based on Mark's actions to subvert the bankruptcy proceedings..
I also think, if alerted,  that 1API GmbH would find that their T.O.S were violated and reverse the ownership of the domain name bitcoinfoundation.org back to court controlled authorities.

Just some ideas to think about.

Open questions to the Bitcoin Foundation
by
Xtib
on 28/02/2014, 20:31:40 UTC
I was curious about the bitcoin foundation and their lack of leadership with regards to the MtGox problems. I decided to check the whois records somewhere around Feb 20, 2014. I was surprised to find that Mark Karpeles owned the bitcoinfoundation.org domain name (see quote below).

Question 1: Did Karpeles' ownership of the domain name take precedence over the foundations responsibility to the Bitcoin community?

Question 2: Why did the foundation essentially pave a road to MtGox without any warning to the community?

When I heard about Mark Karpeles' resignation from the foundation I checked whois again and found that Mark's ownership in the domain name was transferred to the Bitcoin foundation on Feb. 23, 2014. I looked for any news or warnings from the foundation about MtGox and only found that they were wishing him well as they parted ways.

I believe that the foundation knew at that point for sure that Mark was going to file for bankruptcy very soon.

Question 3: Why did the foundation accept assets from Mark Karpeles when he is on the verge of bankruptcy. Why are you not returning those assets now that he is in bankruptcy. Do you believe your recovery rights usurp Japanese bankruptcy laws and the rights of the victims to recover their losses.

Question 4: Did you receive any bitcoins from Mark during this transfer of assets?

I look forward to your responses to these questions.
