Re: I did a last resort resolve of gambling addiction.
by

on 13/07/2025, 13:45:08 UTC
I intend to keep my promise to myself to stop gambling altogether and I will totally achieve it because I am very decisive about it. No one can stop me now, it was that going from 20 to 800 dollars and losing it all that made me do this.

It takes courage and a significant challenge to create your own, so you will have something to follow. It now all depends on how you make out of this challenge.
I’m sure you will, you are an active poster, and you have seen the worst in gambling addiction, and by confessing. Your struggle and how you want to address this, you’ve just shown how serious you are.
I’m looking forward to the success of your idea.

Re: See No gambling Hear no gambling Talk No gambling for strict regulation?
by

If I’m not mistaken, what the Senator is proposing is a total ban on online gambling, not gambling in general. I’ve already said this in another thread, so this is a bit misleading again. If you say a total ban on gambling, it means even physical and traditional casinos, including peryas during fiestas and cockfighting nationwide. So, to be clear, it’s online gambling, not gambling.

Yes, that’s what I mean, but it's already in the essence of my post because I have mentioned an e-wallet which works with the internet, and gambling is legal in our country. There were lotteries and gambling in fiestas, and we have government-run casinos. Still, it’s the online gambling that has a profound effect on many people because it’s easy to fund and access these online gambling platforms. I guess the warning sign is written everywhere.

Quote
Sure, the removal of those billboards will have some effect. As for the influencers, what I watched last night was that they were told to stop promoting illegal online casinos. That means if they’re promoting legal ones, they’re still fine.
The regulator will have to name those online gambling sites that are legal, but the strict regulation will require no more ads or online promotion, or they will limit the platforms where they can promote.

Re: Content creation
by

on 11/07/2025, 14:17:04 UTC
Do you notice that so many people are into content creation these days? Everyone is always filming something and posting it in hopes of gaining views, likes and followers. Once they have enough audience, they can start earning from their page and this is what is their biggest motivator. There are people who have day jobs that don't pay enough so they try their luck in content creation.

Many content creators are using AI to copy content, and as a result, actual content creators are struggling to qualify for monetization. They recently announced a change in their policy: they will limit the use of AI, preferring authentic humans and voices.
It’s hard to become a content creator. It will take a lot of effort and marketing, and for your channel to take off, you can take it as a hobby and only focus on it when you qualify for monetization and earning money more than what you’re making in an 8 to 5 job.

See No gambling Hear no gambling Talk No gambling for strict regulation?
by

For the past weeks, our country has become alarmed by the growing addiction to gambling, because of the many billboards proliferating, influencers promoting gambling sites, and TV commercials and sponsorships on TV shows.

Due to this, many lawmakers proposed a total ban on gambling, which was opposed by various sectors due to the tax implications and job losses, leading them to suggest a stricter restriction.

Strict restriction means the regulators order all billboards to be taken down, influencers to take down their posts and stop posting, and all sponsorships to be stopped.

Do you think seeing no gambling, hearing no gambling, and talking no gambling, not even a mention of a gambling site, will decrease addiction? See, no gambling, is it a good resolution?

This growing number of addictions here in our country started because of the massive marketing and influence of celebrities. Your thoughts on this?

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has issued a directive to all licensed gambling operators and related entities, ordering the removal of all gambling-related billboards and out-of-home (OOH) advertisements by August 15. This move is part of a broader initiative to regulate gambling-related promotions and curb excessive marketing in public spaces.

Re: Can AI really predict the outcome of a sports match?
by
aioc
on 10/07/2025, 21:20:51 UTC
On the noticeable results, it can, in a complicated match-up where the players are even, the chances are 50/50, they rely on historical data to come out with a possible result not different from what humans do with their spreadsheets and analysis when comparing the performance between teams.
They cannot consistently forecast upsets and unusual results. We humans can rely on hunches and our risk factors to hit an upset, so yes, AI can predict, but not consistently.

I'm sure you're surprised too, i was tooo when i saw a token is named "Useless" it emphasizes zero utility and community-driven speculation. The $USELESS token is traded on Raydium and has a repurchase and destruction mechanism to achieve liquidity.

in as much as it sound useless there’s pump happening and many cex listed it already and even on their futures

It’s a shitcoin, and those who invested in this kind of token are risk-takers. It’s like a Ponzi Scheme or the early birds take the worm scenario. The lifespan of this kind of token is short. If you don’t know how this scheme works, you could invest here, hoping for a pump. You wake up to find that the value goes to zero.
This kind of project thrives on investors’ greed for quick profit, so be aware that your investment will go to zero. So invest what you can afford to lose; this is so much like gambling

Re: Changing strategy to win !

I do not find it effective based on my years of playing because this is a luck-based game, and no strategy will work effectively.
Many newbies have tried all the strategies they can find online, through YouTube, articles, forums, and even their own town experiencesBTC, but all have come to naught.
If there are strategies that will work on gambling, then many casinos will fold, and many bettors will become millionaires, but casinos are set up to have an edge against gamblers.

Re: Betting on the impossible
by

on 10/07/2025, 15:01:21 UTC

This got me thinking how sometimes betting on the impossible could give you insane benefits. I know this will not happen all the time but those who had chosen to bet on Hulkenberg that day for fun got insanely lucky and won big.

It may yield massive and insane rewards, but you never know when they will arrive. You can try that a hundred times or wait for it to happen for many years. Upsets seldom occur, and this is for the risk taker who is comfortable betting on the impossible.
I used to bet on underdogs, but I can no longer keep up with your chances. I prefer to have a 50/50 chance.
For every analysis, there is a chance that an upset can happen, so I never rule out betting on the impossible.

Re: gambling in prison
by

on 09/07/2025, 16:48:53 UTC
Gambling can exist everywhere; it’s part of human desire for challenges and the yearning to satisfy oneself. Even if the prison guard restricts and monitors the prison, there’s a possibility that inmates can gamble.
If a gambler entered a prison, he would find a way to gamble. There’s a saying: "If there's a will, there's a way."
There were reports here in our country that VIP prisoners can bribe the guards so they can operate inside the prison.
It’s very rampant in the third world; gambling will find its way everywhere, even in a harsh environment.

Re: If you had infinite money, would you still gamble?

Suppose, as title says — you had infinite amount of money, would you still gamble?

Personally, I can't see myself giving two fucks when I don't care for money in first place. Would you?

A gambler will always gamble for the thrill and the challenge, and for the show off. I have read that multi-millionaires and billionaires in our country still frequent casinos, showing off to others how they can easily burn through money.
Millionaires love to brag about their wealth; they enjoy showing others that money is not an issue, so even if they have infinite wealth, they will still gamble to prove it.

Re: gambling in strict countries
by

on 09/07/2025, 15:15:12 UTC
i saw a post here once asking about whether banning gambling will actually solve some problems. well even with gambling deemed illegal, it has not completely disappeared from a country. for example, in north korea gambling is illegal for its citizens.

but there are still gambling events that take place most often organized by some authorities or really rich and powerful people. i guess that making gambling illegal is just a way to make it less accessible to the general public but the rich always finds a way.

If you’re a citizen of North Korea, your eligibility to gamble depends on your status in the society; if you’re an average citizen, even if you have the money to gamble, I don’t think you will because of the kind of harsh penalties they put on violators you cannot get a lawyer to defend yourself. Hence, gambling in a strict country like North Korea is like committing suicide.

Re: As an experience gambler what is your advice to newcomers
by

on 08/07/2025, 22:21:32 UTC

We have talked more about gambling addiction, so let focused on other areas where we can also be happy telling someone the areas of gambling to focus and make winning.

My advice to newcomers is to lower their expectations when it comes to gambling. Gambling is never a job or an investment where you expect to make a profit.
I also advise them to treat the casino as an entertainment portal, enjoy playing, don’t force yourself to win, and if you win, don’t expect that you can repeat those winnings. Luck is a factor that made you win, and it's seldom that it makes a repeat.

As the title says, What first got you into gambling, and what keeps you coming back?

Early exposure to it was because many of my uncles are into gambling, and I keep coming back mainly to cope with stress, and also hoping to win some bucks.
We may have one reason why we start to gamble, but when it comes to why we keep coming back, our reasons are changing. Sometimes, we do it to cope with stress, and sometimes, we do it to gain money, but whatever the reason, we should moderate it so we can come back anytime we want.

Re: Banning gambling, would this solve the problem?

I came across news that there’s a senator pushing to ban gambling in our country.

So I’d like to ask fellow gamblers here, do you think this move is justified? Or is it too harsh?

Since it’s a senator’s move and not the President, they will have to do a debate and deliberation on this If banning is justified, it will be based on fact and weigh the cons and the pros.

Quote
We all know that gambling is addictive by nature. No matter our financial status, anyone can fall into addiction. But is banning it entirely really the only solution?
And what could be the possible consequences if gambling were banned in a country? Can you share some thoughts or examples?
The only consequence I am aware of is the taxes; gambling is considered a vice, similar to cigars and liquor, which is why the government imposes heavy taxes and regulations. This is why the government has to reallocate the budget to sectors that benefit from the taxes.

Re: Offline gambling!
by

on 07/07/2025, 17:53:37 UTC
3 Days ago I have started gambling offline with local people who are professional gambler. I played almost whole night while at beginning I won about 20000 BDT. But those who are addicted on gambling forced us to play more and finally I became loser (lost 15000 BDT from the winning). Have you faced anything like this?

If possible, I always prefer to play alone, both online and offline. The reason is I don’t want to be influenced in my decision to stop and cash out.
I experienced what you experienced, and it’s not a good feeling. Sometimes, they encourage you to continue even if you’ve exhausted all the money in your pocket; they even lend you money to continue.
If you’re gambling alone, you can focus on your game, and you can decide if you want to cash out or continue.

This case could have been forgotten if not for the whistleblower, Atong Ang, is a real gangster. He reportedly bribes everybody, and he is not afraid to take down anybody. I heard from one lawyer that he once slapped a lawmaker.
This case highlights the weaknesses of the judicial system and reveals the corruption within the authorities in that region.

The Philippines will become a laughing stock if it cannot solve this case. I consider this a landmark case. The Justice Department is up against a guy who bribed the judicial and police forces to protect him and to keep him innocent.

Re: What’s your worst loss, and how did you cope afterward?
by

on 07/07/2025, 14:01:52 UTC

"What’s your worst loss, and how did you cope afterward? "

As for me, when I have one of those days that I have a big loss, it's more on a mental trauma to me. I can't function as normal, I went into depression mode, can't get out of my bed and go to work and will just call my boss that I'm sick. And this might take to 3 days or even a whole week. And of course, the physical effect as well, I can't eat and so I lose a lot of weight.

How about you guys? Did you experience this when you gamble a lot?

When you lose a huge amount of money that you are not supposed to lose, you will feel that way. I understand the trauma because it also happened to me. I’ve blamed myself for the blunder, and this kind of trauma takes time to heal, but once you heal, you have learned a big lesson not to gamble with money that you can afford to lose, because you now know how it feels.
You become a better gambler because you have seen and felt the worst, and you don't want that to happen to you.

Re: Deposit threshold can minimize gambling addiction from poor sector?!
by
aioc
on 06/07/2025, 17:16:33 UTC
There is a public clamor to do that, and it’s on local news almost daily because of some criminal cases attributed to gambling. I have a neighbor whose daily allocation is the equivalent of $2 now; it used to be $1, His reason is that he only has a few bets to get his wins, so he needs to add more to his bankroll, and his daily take is $15 so its a matter of weeks before that $2 becomes $5 and he will have less in his take home.

These are the people that lawmakers want to protect. Still, I disagree that they need to increase the threshold because these gamblers will likely resort to unlicensed or underground casinos that offer a lower deposit threshold.

Re: Am I a bad father for letting my daughter gamble?
by
aioc
on 06/07/2025, 15:32:00 UTC

Now, I’m a father, and my 17-year-old daughter is starting to gamble too playing slots and even doing some sports betting. I don’t know how to feel, part of me feels oddly proud of what she’s doing.

What does that make me?
It’s understandable because you know how hard it is to become addicted to gambling and to get out of that addiction, and you are afraid that the same will happen to your daughter.
You will feel guilty if that happens, and you have not done anything to stop your daughter from becoming addicted to gambling.
The best thing to do is to have a heart-to-heart talk with your daughter and let her know your concern. Teenagers are very aggressive and easily fall into vice, so you need not to let that happen.
