Re: Bitcoin-Community-advice needed

I have nothing against insurance – but it’s not my passion. Bitcoin is. And I’m wondering if this is really the right path for me.

How would you approach a decision like this?
Appreciate any honest thoughts.
The Bitcoin industry has different areas like trading, hodling, security, etc. Which area are you interested in? Your passion for Bitcoin shouldn't stop you from having a full-time job. Most people on this forum have a passion for Bitcoin, but they are also gainfully employed in different industries. You don't need to be a full-time trader or hodler.

You need to have money to invest in Bitcoin, which is why having a job is important. Long-term hodling of Bitcoin might not be possible without a stable source of income. My advice start the insurance job because it will help you build your Bitcoin portfolio.

Are casinos making more money than trading platforms?
We cannot generalise that any of them is more profitable. Some casinos make more money than exchanges and vice versa. If we consider how much casinos spend on advertisements or promotions, you might get a glimpse that they are making enough money. Binance was fined more than $4.3 billion by the US government in fines and forfeited property, which means they are making high profits. The profitability of these businesses will depend on their size and management.

Re: What Does "Being Rich" Even Mean Anymore?
by

So I ask you:
- Has your life changed with the "growth" of your country?
- Do you feel more secure, or less?
- If you could choose, would you want more money, more time, or more trust in people?
The cost of living keeps increasing and employment opportunities are reducing. The few jobs underpay workers making it difficult to live on salary. Standard of living has not improved in my country even when the government keep claiming that the economy is improving.

Jobs and other kinds of security do not exist. Due to the high rate of unemployment, employers can hire and fire at will. I feel sincerely less secure.

Money and time are important to me. I want enough money to take care of the needs of my family. Let me have enough to pay my bills and sufficient time to raise my children.

You are absolutely right bud, who ever claims to be a professional gambler and the same gambling isn't what is paying his or her bills, then such person is lying to himself and those who care enough to listen and believe his claim of being a professional gambler.
What about gamblers who have won big that they have enough to sustain themselves. We have heard news of people winning millions, and they can decide to stop working and switch to full-time gambling. Such people can rightly claim that they live on gambling.

Quote
This days with alot of things people can do to make money legitimately even on the internet, I don't see why anyone would prefer to become a professional gambler knowing fully well that making money from gambling is luck dependent and there day he can go on a long losing streak which may lead him into financial issues or instabilities.
It is very important for people to choose their career wisely as wrong choices often lead to regrets in the future.
Anyone who doesn't have a major source of income would end up in debt if he gambles consistently. How will he fund his gambling accounts? If he had dependents, who would he provide for in an unpredictable terrain like gambling?

Money is useful, let's be clear, it is useful for everyone but to think that it is the goal to be pursued by overlooking people or honor and loyalty is something squalid
What do you think about football?
We have not heard from Mateo Retegui why he left Napoli for the Saudi Professional League? There might be other reasons why he decided to ditch the Serie A for an average league. He might claim that he wants to help develop the Gulf League.

I heard one player say that the reason why he moved to the SPL was to raise money to fund his humanitarian organisation.  I also don't think that there is any dishonor for the 26-year-old Italian to move to Al Qadsiah FC. No law says a player shouldn't leave his club at any time. Atalanta also needed the money that was why they accepted £56m.

Nevertheless,  I have also observed that the days are gone when players are loyal to a club. Only a few players, such as Luka Modric, can choose club loyalty over money. Players now play for money rather than love for the club.

Professional has been defined differently by various individuals and organisations

Quote
A professional gambler is someone who has complete control over the time, money and energy they spend on gambling

Quote
A professional gambler, by definition, is someone who makes a living off of their gambling winnings.

https://www.algamus.org/blog/thinking-you-are-a-professional-gambler

The first definition sees a professional gambler as one who has total control over his gambling activities. When a gambler ensures that his habits don't have any negative effect on his finances, work, family, and other endeavours, it means he is a professional.

The second definition relates professional gambling to financial gains. The set of people who have been able to depend on gambling as a source of income are the professionals.

Re: Should I depend solely on Bitcoin?
by

A friend of mine just got into Bitcoin, lucky for him, his successful. Before he started Bitcoin, he was actually into a good business of selling artwork which wasn't so bad. So he got introduced to Bitcoin and had a quick success. It's actually a good and exciting thing to see someone progress fast like that, but he quit selling artworks and other little businesses that kept him going he stopped, he now depends fully on Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the king no doubt, but From my Point of view I think that depending fully on it might be risky to you financially.

For you to get the right advice,  you would have to explain what he is really doing with Bitcoin.  Is he a Bitcoin trader, hodler, or gambler? For him to depend solely on Bitcoin as a trader, it might mean that he is very knowledgeable and has been making profits. It is unlikely to achieve quick success as a hodler because you would have to keep Bitcoin for a long time to make a profit. He might be able to depend solely on Bitcoin if he invested a large sum and made a good profit. Gambling is highly risky and I doubt if someone could survive on it as a major source of income.

Quote
I don't recommend anyone to depend solely on Bitcoin or any single asset. Bitcoin can fluctuate rapidly and market volatility might impact your financial stability. It is actually very risky to invest in a single asset. The part that scares me the most is that my friend has put all his resources into this one asset. If am wrong please correct me. Thanks

It is possible to live only on Bitcoin if you are a long-term hodler. The profit you make from Bitcoin in a bull run can sustain you for another four years if you have a large chunk of the asset. However, it is advisable to diversify your assets.

Re: Ensuring generational wealth
by

You have to invest in longterm assets to build generational wealth. But to safeguard it for future generations, you need to teach them financial literacy prior. They have to understand budgeting, investing basics, risk management, and recovery as well. Encouraging entrepreneurship and passive income is also very helpful. Structuring assets through trusts or family LLC may keep them safe from debt, bad divorce, or poor financial decisions. Think about succession planning, adjustable family financial meetings, and even setting up charters or behavioral covenants. These things will help ensure that your legacy isn't just preserved, it's multiplied as well.
It is not wrong to transfer wealth to your children, but they should be taught to value and preserve it. Our offspring should be able to pursue a career so that they will not just depend on inherited wealth. Another means of helping children sustain and build wealth is to identify their talents or gifts at an early stage. They should be guided to pursue a career that suits their skills and personality.

Some of the successful sportsmen were encouraged and guided by their parents. This support helped them develop these skills at an early age, which made them excel as professionals. If they are engaged in a profitable venture, it will be difficult for them to squander transgenerational wealth.

Leverkusen conceded 5 goals against a small team like Flamengo U20. We have not seen Leverkusen lose by such a big margin in the last 2 seasons. Many people  will say that this is a friendly match, this match is not important , yes undeniable , it is not an important match. So Leverkusen will concede 5 goals against e small team? This is a shameful defeat for Leverkusen.  I do not like Ten Hag at all as a coach. I have seen him turn Manchester United into a ruin. It is foolish to expect that Leverkusen will do anything good next season with Ten Hag.
The only excuse Erik Ten Hag would give for this disgraceful loss is that it was a friendly match and nothing is at stake.  He can also claim that he was experimenting with players since he made several changes. The weather was also very hot which was an advantage to the home side.

But critics and other football analysts are pushing that Bayer Leverkusen shouldn't have lost to an Under 20 team of a South American club. There was no excuse for that large margin win. There were high hopes that Ten Hag would give Vincent Kompany the needed competition in the Bundesliga. But this loss might have reduced people's expectations.

Re: When gambling what do you measure? Luck or chances?
by
Die_empty
on 23/07/2025, 18:46:41 UTC
I bet on sports more often. I consider the odds, but I don't deny that luck can influence the outcome. Those who have been betting for a while have likely experienced losing bets with high odds of winning.
So, while we consider the odds heavily when placing bets, we also recognize that luck can influence seemingly unlikely outcomes. While such bets aren't always accurate, those who bet on low odds of winning are also taking greater risks.
Betting on favourites has been my major and consistent sports betting strategy. Although the wins are usually small, they have higher chances of playing out. But sometimes I might be moved to depend solely on luck. In this case, I might follow the high odds even when it is evident that the team doesn't have what it takes to win against the favourites. Few sports bettors in my area won big because they bet that Chelsea would beat PSG, which was highly unlikely.

Re: Has El Salvador been lying to the world?
by

on 23/07/2025, 18:21:53 UTC
It is truly shady but you know that the world organizations like this, including world bank, United nations are heavily influenced by the United States.

Also the namt IMF is not what they should be called, they supposed to be called IFF which mean International Fiat Funds. And the dominant fiat is United States dollars.
Even if the accusation is true, why should the IMF make this finding public? The organisation would be protecting some nations, but they just want to discredit El Salvador and shame them before the committee of nations.

However, if this claim is true it shows that Nayib Bukele has stained his reputation.  It shows that some of the reports of financial misappropriation, disrespect for human rights, and suppression of opposition might be true.

Ademola Lookman didn't do very well last season. In 31 games, he only managed to score 15 goals. It's not a small number, but it's also not a very high number that might surprise anyone. However, it's a fact that he's an excellent player. He has great skills, and if Atalanta sells him, then next season Atalanta's attack will be very weak. Atalanta probably won't even be able to finish above 5th place. I see that they will have a better chance of finishing in the Europa League qualifying positions.
It would be better to state that Ademola Lookman didn't replicate or perform better than his display in 2023/2024 when he scored 20 goals and gave 6 assists. Scoring 15 goals in 31 games is not a bad performance.  After all, Liverpool wants to pay £79m to Eintracht Frankfurt for Hugo Ekitike, who scored 15 goals in 33 games. I hope Atalanta will be able to replace all these players they are allowing to leave considering that the club will be playing in the prestigious and competitive UEFA Champions League.

Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024
by
Die_empty
on 22/07/2025, 03:20:22 UTC
Here we need to remember that Al Qadsiah is not one of the clubs under the sponsorship of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF). Therefore they don't have a lot of funds available with them. This club is based in Dhammam and is owned by Saudi Aramco. It is encouraging that such a club is spending a huge amount of money (€65 million) on Mateo Retegui. This will improve the competitiveness of the league, and will decrease the gap between the clubs sponsored by the PIF and the rest.
Saudi Aramco is a state-owned oil firm. So it could be said that  Al Qadsiah is still under government sponsorship. This deal makes Mateo Retegui the most expensive ever Italian player, beating Sandro Tonali's €59 million transfer fee when he moved from Milan to Newcastle United. The move of this 26-year-old Italian striker might be for money since he would be earning about €20million per season. He has been part of the Italian national team, and nobody knows how this move will affect his chances of playing for Gli Azzurri under the new coach Gennaro Gattuso. It is a big win for the Saudi Pro League because Mateo Retegui is good player that will contribute to the quality and development of the growing League.

Re: Roman Storm needs our help!

UPDATE:
Roman Storm's trial have entered the second week and the defense counsel is looking up to a termination of the trial citing that they didn't find any connection of Hanfeng Ling's scammed funds to Tonado Cash. Remember that Hanfeng Ling testified that her pig butchering scam in 2021 were linked to Tonado Cash but Roman Storm's lawyers are affirming that there are no traces of the funds in Tonado Cash. Does it mean that Hanfeng Ling is ONLY trying to blackmail Roman Storm?

Link: Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm's trial shaken as defense eyes mistrial over witness testimony: reports
Hanfeng Ling is claiming that scammers laundered the proceeds from the scam through which she lost money using Tornado Cash. The defence team. She claimed that it was a recovery team she hired that told her how the funds moved.  But Roman Storm's defence, headed by David Patton, pushed back such a claim and told the court that Ling's lost crypto didn't go through Tornado Cash. Both parties would have to prove their claims. Maybe the services of a blockchain forensics specialist would be helpful to decide the outcome of this case. Let's see how it goes as the case continues.

Re: Have you been addicted to gambling in the past.
by
Die_empty
on 22/07/2025, 02:24:37 UTC
This question is for those gamblers that were once addicted to gambling and was able to come out from addiction.
It will depend on the definition or time frame that could seen as suffering from gambling addiction. I have been hooked on gambling for a few weeks, and I don't know if it could be qualified as addiction.

Quote
How did you go about it?
I realised that you cannot chase losses and beat the house. My short gambling disorder resulted from chasing losses. I observed that I was losing more money when I thought I wanted to recover my losses. Through meditation and a few materials from the internet, I stopped.

Quote
Was someone there to help you out or you took the bold step all alone?
Nobody even knew I was battling with uncontrollable gambling activities. I never wanted people to know that I was gambling since I was a dependent.

Quote
How long did your addiction last?
Can't actually remember, but it was a few weeks, maybe three months or so.

Quote
What's your best advice to gamblers fighting with addiction?
Understand that loss chasing and greed are the main causes of gambling addiction. Set up a gambling budget and follow it meticulously.  Gambling shouldn't be seen as a source of income and only gamble with what you can afford.

Nothing matters more than your life, not even Bitcoin.

Those people who faded Bitcoin years back choose survival over unnecessary stress.
Let me agree that life is more precious than any valuable asset. But while we are alive, it is important to take advantage of opportunities to make life better. Bitcoin was a viable investment that could change the financial status of early adopters. The coin was sold for less than a dollar, infact some people got it via airdrop. I don't know where the stress of hodling Bitcoin is coming from. All you needed was to keep it safe in a wallet and wait for it to increase in price.

I am grateful for being alive today, but life would have been better if I were part of the first set of Bitcoin hodlers. However, I don't have time to regret because it is worthless.  Bitcoin still has great opportunities that I can still take advantage of. So my path is to keep accumulating and hodling until I get to my target.

Re: How is wealth distributed through Gambling
by

on 21/07/2025, 12:10:36 UTC
You are obviously talking about the big offline casinos. They are paying taxes, but there's a problem. Do you really believe that online crypto casinos are paying any big gambling taxes? I don't have verified information, but I do believe that most online crypto casinos aren't paying any taxes. Maybe I'm wrong. Somebody must provide valid proof that the casinos are paying taxes.
I couldn't get any information about crypto casinos paying tax in any country. Maybe a comprehensive search might give further clarifications. But what is certain is that casinos wins are taxed in many countries. Gambling wins are generally taxed as income or capital gain tax.

Quote
Yes, gambling is a wealth re-distribution from the working class/middle class to the rich. All industries can be viewed as such wealth re-distribution systems as well. That's how capitalism works. The government helps in balancing the system by imposing higher taxes for the rich and a welfare system for the poor(the problem is the lack of effectiveness in both taxation and welfare).
Gambling as a tool of wealth distribution doesn't favour the poor. If the argument is that government uses the tax to provide basic amenities, but even the casino owners also use these social services. Now the poor lose and pay tax if they win. The casino owners benefit from business profits and basic amenities.

Are there any characteristics from the older generation you would want the younger ones to learn so they can progress economically?
The older generation is loyal to organisations, that is why they can work for a long period.  But the younger generation focuses on high pay and work flexibility. Due to advancements in technology, younger workers prefer to use digital tools for communication while the older generation finds it difficult.

The new generation prefers a democratic office leadership style where their view or opinion would be considered. The older generation existed in an era when hierarchy of authority was normal, so they are willing to take orders from top management without input.

This generation is opportuned to have diverse avenues to invest. This is different from the old days when real estate, stock, and gold were the main assets. But with the crypto industry and others, the present generation has more options.

Arsenal are indeed the closest, and rumor has it they have made an offer to Madrid. But not only Arsenal, Liverpool was also rumored to be interested, but they are also waiting for the completion of the transfer of their released players. Not only from the Premier League, Barcelona is also rumored to be interested in bringing Rodrygo, although I am also not quite sure of their seriousness.
Many European clubs still have an interest in Rodrygo. I think there is no reason for him to move to Saudi to enrich himself at an age that is still very productive for competition in Europe's top leagues.
A sports news outlet football.london claimed that Barcelona is also interested in signing the Brazilian international. Rodrygo said he respects Real Madrid and wants to remain in the club. But it seems Xabi Alonso prefers other strikers, as shown in the FIFA World Club event.  So he might want to leave for a place where he would be appreciated more. Real might be open to let him leave for €100m (£85m), and it might be hard for clubs to afford that amount, except there are other agreements, like player swaps.

do you also do this and does it really work for you?
It might work for you or others but it wouldn't be effective for me. It's like owning a house and forgetting that you are the owner. You would always remember that you own something of value no matter how hard you try to forget.

It would be better to have an investment plan and follow it accurately. Having a stable source of income and setting aside a robust emergency fund could help keep your Bitcoin for a long time.
