Thank you bro.

I did use ezgif as you can see by the name in my link, ezgif-3-2c0d32ae07.gif, but was doing a conversion from video -- I couldn't find this one in gif anywhere -- maybe it didn't optimize it on a conversion.

I'd have realized if preview post showed the error but apparently newbie status don't let me see it. Wink

I don't believe in conspiracy theories, but if we agree with you that the world is on the brink of world war 3, who is going to care about BTC then, there will be other things on your priority list, like staying alive and getting food to eat, you'll want to have only fiat then because nobody is going to be exchanging their fiat for your BTC's, so you can't even spend it. So we better do something to stop that war if it is truly coming, to save ourselves and not BTC. Shocked

If you are only holding fiat in a situation like this, you'll be having a tough time. Precious metals?

It's not a conspiracy that ww3 is on the brink of happening:
https://www.bu.edu/articles/2022/how-close-are-we-to-world-war-iii/
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/03/17/why-biden-white-house-keep-talking-about-world-war-iii/
https://www.businessinsider.com/conflicts-that-could-turn-into-world-war-iii-during-2023-2023-1

And it hasn't gotten any better -- North Korea fires intercontinental ballistic missile after threatening US

The reason everyone is trying to prevent ww3 from happening and talking about it is because it's close to happening, i.e. on the brink of. Roll Eyes  The conspiracy theory is [essentially] that there are superpowers [intentionally] creating various problems to send us here.

And you don't have to convert your BTC to use it, there are plenty of places that would continue to accept it as payment even with ww3, but BTCs potential would certainly suffer, as things like electricity, internet are targets for these wack job globalists, and yes people will prioritize survival, but BTC should still exist in some capacity.

I was about to reply to this thread before it was locked by the OP.  Our Vision: How to change the world in three simple steps by Bitcoin"

The discussion raised an important issue that I believe many of us can relate to and should consider. As long-term Bitcoin enthusiasts, some of us have been part of this journey since its creation and we have witnessed its transformative power firsthand. Bitcoin has undoubtedly changed lives and ignited dreams for the future.

recently, i came across a video on YouTube https://youtu.be/3Rnqst5qCgA where the creator was very optimistic about Bitcoin saving the world from POVERTY, HUNGER, GOVERNMENT, WAR, ECONOMIC CRISIS creating a UTOPIAN WORLD. he even went as far as predicting the year 2048 and 2109, how Bitcoin would be the only dominating currency in the world.

While we all share a belief in Bitcoin's potential it's crucial to strike a balance between optimism and realism. Placing Bitcoin as a sole savior in solving all the world's problems might not be a practical approach. We should all remember that Bitcoin at its core is a currency meant to serve as a decentralized medium of exchange. We should not bother it with unrealistic expectations.

we must also recognize that not all countries will readily embrace Bitcoin regardless of its undisputed qualities. Governments tend to have different perspectives on Bitcoin and some may be hesitant to change their existing views and regulations. The acceptance of Bitcoin on a global scale will likely be a gradual process spanning several decades to reach its full potential.
Unfortunately many of us may not witness its complete realization and we should remember that while Bitcoin holds remarkable promise and has the potential to shape our future let's approach it with a sense of realism. We can appreciate its transformative power while understanding the challenges it faces on its path to widespread acceptance and maximum impact.

(This is just my on view)

Bitcoin has plenty of potential but it does require certain things to continue successfully -- like electricity and the internet. With the world on the brink of ww3, we better do something if we're to have these basic things moving forward.  Huh

Re: AI-generated post discussion thread: how to identify & report

AI scares the bejusus out of me, not only from this froums perspective but throughout the world. The level of sophistication which has already been achieved, should be alarming to everyone. Pondering about how AI could be shifted in biased ways, and be used for malicious purposes, is scary.

Biased adjustments added into an AI's neural network to fit various agendas, manipulate public opinions, controlling herd mentality, and more, could all send the entire world into another level of chaos which we will not understand, until it is too late. Depending on who, or let's be real, which tech giant, corporation, government or special interest group masters it first, likely the latter two.

For this forum, the solution is simple.
AAIM's --- Advanced Artificial Intelligence Moderators.  Shocked

Eliminating the need for human moderators all together. Plagiarism will be stifled. But we [disappointingly] will end up with multiple reiterations of the same [hopefully good] content, thru various [sponsored] AI bots, we assume run by humans - but maybe run by other AI's generating and using alts. All information [hopefully accurate] regurgitated in various ways as [maybe real] humans interact with the AI's --- If the content all satisfies the tolerance level of the AAIM's, of course.

Yikes.

Many mixers were seized but it is a first time I read documents mentioned Bitcointalk directly like this by Chipmixer seize.
You're misinformed. Posts on bctalk have been brought up in many legal cases, including several high profile ponzi scammer cases. Yet ponzi scammers are still here and not banned, even one you quoted in OP.
No he's not. He's saying its the first time he personally read documents that mention Bitcointalk. He's misinformed about his own knowledge base?
We splitting hairs. Either way, he's wrong.

when mixing sites get banned here for promoting money laundering
Nobody promoted money laundering. You're hypocrisy is just wow as you walk around promoting a casino which has been magnet for money laundering long before mixers ever existed. .
Wut? Is wearing a signature advertisement a promotion or not?
Good question, what is your opinion?
by definition, it is. But promoting a mixer is not promoting money laundering.

You could use the same analogy for people who have casino signatures.
Not really. They serve two different functions. Besides, most casinos (including the ones advertising via signature on this forum) enforce some kind of AML/KYC standard to be employed at their discretion. That means they are likely to comply with federal requests for information about accounts whereas mixers will not. That's a pretty big difference.

KYC is good for governments getting more taxes and cracking whip on common people, but not a good effort to get actual criminals.

Criminals laundering money do not play by the rules and for them any avenue to do it will serve same purpose with or without KYC, which can be faked and is done at their discretion.

Step 1, get a dunce hat.
Step 2, put it on.

Should forum admin consider to stop all campaigns related to mixers?
No not without a court order. If they decide that, they should move to end sig campaigns all together.

Bad people use mixers, bad people use casinos, bad people are everywhere. Why not shut it all down??  Huh

It was essentially a begging thread which obviously isn't allowed and I think the no begging rule is one of the oldest here. I'm suspired nobody reported it earlier to be honest. If it was made by any other account it would have been reported half a dozen times and trashed within an hour of being posted.

do mods have to wait for a report before doing anything?

There were two other staff members who replied in that thread, why didn't they stop it

I don't like begging but have to ask

If anything, Bitcoin should get a nobel prize, not Satoshi. Certainly Satoshi deserves credit, but he doesn't want it, doesn't need it, and had plenty of help along the way. Makes more sense to give the prize to Bitcoin. It can be done, irregardless of Nobel prize requirements - which I'd add would be perfectly in line with Bitcoin's nature of breaking through traditional requirements of finance. Wink

Speaking on NFT's in general, what's wrong with the physical representation of everything else?   There is something wrong with the physical representation of how the financial system existed, or still exists, so the digital representation of it through Bitcoin serves a great purpose.

With NFTs, I see more problems with theft and the mis-representation of physical or digital things being taken by others, simply in the name of some form of digital representation, by using NFTs, which is not Bitcoin. It can use it, sure, but it's not Bitcoin.

For this forum's profiles and users -- a digital representation already exists here. Why need to put it on the blockchain? Simply so we say it is on the blockchain?

What problems do most NFTs solve?  There could potentially be some use cases here where a digital representation of something might be useful, IF it can be trusted (maybe a form of voting?) but for the most part everything I've seen comes off as a gimmick.

That said, plenty of people around here fall for gimmicks, support gimmicks, and some of the gimmicks around here have sadly been going on for many years. I won't mention any names, lest I be labelled for libel or something, but you've done a good job on the site. I do wish you the best, I'm just not liking the majority of ideas behind NFTs.

The fact that we all reach the same conclusion should tell you something.
You've studied the same materials and you've accepted the same data. Making decisions on global scale via data analysis that does not account for the majority of the population nor any long term consequences.

No, you (plural) don't.
By "We", I refer to all people have the ability to do their own research and all people have intuition they should use.
I now add everyone is unique.

but they don't even know what research is.
I agree things require research. No need to push an [experimental] vaccine on everyone when not enough research has been done.

You deem safe by unfairly using the credibility of traditional vaccines [not the same as mRNA] combined with analysis of the aforementioned incomplete data.

Touché Cheesy  But the link was for you, I was merely trying to respond to your plea for one of your coveted professionals.
If you want to argue with the guy his contact info. is there.

But post the discussion! I realize you won't get paid-per-message to him, but maybe it'll be worth it in the long run.  Smiley

Being technically competent in one field does not preclude you from being a moron in another field. Being technically knowledgeable on bitcoin or cryptography does not make you a virologist or epidemiologist.
There are plenty in the medical field who have concerns. And yes there are plenty more of your type who want to follow their leaders and dismiss others as morons, FAIAP, I'd call a good majority of them sheeple.

What makes someone a moron is not having the ability to recognize that being a doctor doesn't make you smart either, it means you've studied certain books and information, ad nauseam, until you can memorize and repeat it properly.

We all have the ability to think for ourselves and do our own research, and we all have intuition.

I've done my research, I have my experiences, but I didn't keep a collection of links for you and hard-proof all of my real life experiences that have led me to where I am today. The post would be way too long. And I'm not a moron.

You use merit as a way to guide the conversation how you want it?  My god, the bounty hunters are all going to be trained to posting a certain way that merit sources deem fit.

Incentivized group think, great. /s

'force', 'tyrannical'? no one is forced. there was no swat team going door to door. there was no threat to life for not complying.
just the message about personal respect and space awareness of distancing from others to respect others got filtered out in media and twisted into cries of tyranny
Strange you say no threat to life, when most people I know took the vaccine specifically out of fear of death, because of all the media BS stating you would die or would kill others. They scare people to fear for their lives, then provide them a [bad] solution. A whack untested vaccine.

Maybe just listen to what Dr. Yamamoto has to say. We can at least verify his credentials.

The media have so far concealed the adverse events of vaccine administration, such as vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT), owing to biased propaganda. The institute encounters many cases in which this cause is recognized. These situations have occurred in waves; however, they are yet to be resolved despite the measures implemented to routinely screen patients admitted for surgery for heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) antibodies.

What I don't understand, and I'm all ears, is the arguments. Why is it tyranny? And even if it is, how's supposed a society cope with a virus? Even if we assume it comes from a lab, isn't deadly, enriches vaccine companies and the like. It concerns me, because rational people whom I've learnt a lot from don't go quite well with this.

I think Bitcoiners tend to have trust issues. As they should. Hard to trust the people in control of us because they've violated the trust so many times.

The correct approach would have been a consistent uniform message from leaders about sanitary procedures, washing hands, masks, etc. to contain the spread and not let it pass around our societies and mutate. I didn't see that. I saw a bunch of political games, half truths, crappy journalism, crappy data collection, and inconsistent messages from leaders and scientists around the world.

Forcing a vaccine and putting restrictions on events, work, etc. without your card is tyrannical bullshit, especially when it is driven by the aforementioned crap.

Anytime you get into forcing something on large populations, you're going down the tyranny slope. Especially with a new, not long term tested, vaccine technology.. a technology primarily supported by a dude and group involved in Gain of Function research. Ya, OK, go fuck yourself with your new vaccine.

Traffic lights and seatbelts don't require an injection.

People can handle some restrictions, even lockdowns, but they went way too far with COVID and continue to push. Be wary.

Re: why is bitcoin price important?
by
Out of PATIENCE
on 10/07/2022, 11:52:25 UTC
alot of posts seem to be focused on the price of bitcoin. i understand why because they are wanting to sell it for a profit but is that the purpose of bitcoin or was there some other purpose for it? i thought it was originally designed to just be a way to transfer digital cash in a decentralized manner but it seems like people don't really care about that part of it and all they care about is what its price is. seems they got the wrong idea of bitcoin.

thing is, for alot of people it seems like when bitcoin price is "high" they think that means it is succeeding more than when it is "low". but if we think about bitcoin's intended purpose, it doesn't matter what the price is as long as bitcoin can be transferred peer to peer without any centralized party being involved. so if bitcoin was worth $1 people shouldn't complain.
The purpose of Bitcoin is to remove the authority from banks and Governments over their power & control over people's money. To put the power back in the hands of the people to control their own finances. Its price is determined, at any given time, by what people are willing to spend to get the Bitcoins, or what price they're willing to let them go for.

The price will be important as long as other currencies exist. The value of what they own goes up when price is high, the value goes down when it is low. This directly impacts what they could use their Bitcoin for, and in what capacity, so it will always be important as long as other currencies exist.

The crazy part is seeing people complain about $20,000 BTC. Most Bitcoiners would have never imagined such a USD price in 2022, perhaps not even Satoshi himself. Bitcoin is doing very well in terms of price.
