Re: [IPVO] [Multiple Exchanges] Neo & Bee - LMB Holdings

im sorry to break the bad news to everyone but neobee is dead. they arn't/can't make any money. they will have increasing costs and with the price of bitcoin probably continuing to fall over the next month or two, there not gonna survive. and thats on the assumption that the cypriot government doesn't just close them down. it was a great idea, and a nice flashy branch and opening, but its a year or two too early for this, it hasn't been thought out fully and now all the investors who put money into danny's "project" are going to lose a huge amount of money

They can still survive provided that they get a few customers. Because then they could cook the numbers to make them look not as bad, blame the Cypriot government or the people or MtGox or anybody else for that matter (except themselves of course) for the lackluster performance, then ask for more investment to help them expand, take on additional projects, etc.

The interesting thing for me is, what happens if they don't get ANY customers? Because, being Greek myself, I can't for the life of me see many Greeks signing on to this. It's a big part of the reason I'm following this thread. I'm curious to see if they can pull this off. I don't think they can. It could be, though, that it's not the Greeks that they have in mind, but rather the foreigners (Russians, Brits, and others) whose capital is now stuck on the island and would rather get it out. If they can get some of those guys, then they might be able to get out of this (by spinning the numbers, making more promises, etc.).

Hmmm, Peter Harrison's post about Danny being an early adopter/miner puts many things into perspective for me. I don't think we're dealing with a professional here (I always suspected this, but that kind of confirms it for me). His foolhardy arrogance is probably the result of him making lots of money from mining and attributing that to brilliance rather than luck. Many early adopters are afflicted by this condition (see MPEX above). I always thought that, for him to be that ambitious and arrogant, he would have to be either a genius, extremely skilled, or a fool, a charlatan. I'm leaning on the latter even more now.

Every channel in Cyprus has a politician talking about bitcoin now on TV

If there were parliamentary hearings on bitcoin this morning (or yesterday), then of course today's news programs would be reporting on that.

New Video of George Papageorgious, CEO of Neo & Bee, on ANT1 TV

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXhMzJLl02A

Does anybody that understands greek well know what they are talking about? I asked someone to help and they concluded something about 50,000 businesses at the end.

For most of the interview, he's explaining what bitcoin is and what kind of services Neo is offering to the islanders. Near the end, it gets a bit more interesting (for me, at least).

...
Interviewer: 'till now, how many merchants have come forward and expressed interest in this technology and is there interest from the general public too?

Papageorgiou: There is a lot of interest. On the 24th and 25th, we had two seminars for merchants in Nicosia and Limassol. We had more than 500 merchants and CEOs. They showed a lot of interest in bitcoin as payment system. We explained it to them with the help of the University of Nicosia and we have already established some strong alliances with merchants on the island who in the coming weeks they'll start accepting bitcoins from people.

Interviewer: Internationally, how's the market? Does bitcoin have a large share of the market?

Papageorgiou: Internationally, there are about 50,000 businesses that accept bitcoin, ...

I lol'd Grin but he has a point! The shares were available for sale for half year at 0.003, if half year isn't enough time for research about NEOBEE than idk Grin We were watching available direct shares all the time and LMB was unable to sell any share for months(!) @ 0.003 ... We had a lot of posts on reddit, coverage in media, posts in this thread etc. Who wanted to buy on the last day, he did it because vision of quick speculation profit, not because support of the company.

...says someone who was registered April 2013. You obviously got into btc to support the technology, not because btc was moonshoting. And you know what they say about simple men being easily amused, right?

I, for one, would like an explanation for the extremely large 'service fee.'  1 BTC?   Roll Eyes

Also, I'd like some explanation of the Havelock backup procedure.  Burnside said that BTCT emailed friedcat every 12 hours, the email address and a BTC address of every Asicminer shareholder.

Something like that would be very comforting.  The community is butt-sore!

Arwell's quote inexplicably excludes the current transfer fee of 0.2btc (1btc is the max price, created when bitcoin was worth much less).

In addition to any backups Havelock does internally, the full shareholder list is sent to each issuer twice per day.

I suggest reading the entire Havelock description AND the entire LMB prospectus before buying.

All your questions have been addressed and answered numerous times in the past. And most are answered in the documents I noted.

Also read this thread from the beginning, etc.

This is due diligence, and you must do it to have any hope of understanding what this is.

Thanks.

Hmm, I am beginning to dislike this Havelock business. Perhaps I should have researched a bit about them before sending coins to them last week.

Edit: It just occurred to me - if you are using an 8 character BIC, or an 11 character BIC with "XXX" at the end, the convention is that this indicates the primary office, so it would make sense to use the address of the primary office.

Yes, it' an 8-character BIC.

I have discovered some slightly unusual behaviour with the 'Add bank account' form which may have something to do with the 'Bad data' message.  Upon entering my local branch address along with my personal IBAN and BIC codes (as given on a bank statement) I get the bad data message.  However, once I looked up and used the address which is registered to the actual BIC (a more central branch of the bank) this caused the form to be accepted.

Does the system do some sort of look-up on the BIC code and match it to the address given?  If so this may be the cause of the error.  Also, will the fact that I used the central branch address and not my own local branch cause any problems with the withdrawal itself?

Thanks. This seems to have worked for me. I used the central branch address too and the system accepted it. Although, in my case, I also used Latin characters this time around instead of Greek characters (the bank is Greek). I initiated a withdrawal, I hope it goes well.

And thanks to Dargo for keeping us posted. I think there needs to be some official channel of communication (this thread is pretty random). Perhaps a regularly updated blog or facebook or twitter feed.

Hello,

Is anybody else having trouble with SEPA withdrawals from Kraken?

I've tried twice, and each time it has 'failed' with no other explanation. I've asked support twice on 25th and 26th to explain what might have gone wrong and had no reply. I've checked my spam folder.

- Value was about 500EUR both times.
- I have verified level 2.
- My account is based in the UK (and thus within SEPA realm), and in GBP. But my bank (Santander) will convert that for me into GBP and charge a small fee for the privilege.
- The details I'm using are the same as those given to Bitstamp, and I've received the funds from their withdrawal successfully today.
- I double-checked the account number etc etc.

Any help appreciated! Thanks.

Similar experience here too. In my case, I cannot add the details of my bank. A "Bad Data" error message is returned. I have sent two emails to support that have gone unanswered. Also, my Tier 3 verification is stuck on "Processing" for several days now.

The thing that annoys me the most is that they don't answer the emails. I was a Bitstamp user for a long time, but became disappointed recently with their poor customer service and communication. I started using Kraken partly for that reason, but I'm met with the same sort of poor service and communication here too. I'm sort of hoping that this related to the Thanksgiving holiday in the US. But, still, make some announcement somewhere stating "Because of Thanksgiving here in the US, all customer requests will be handled next week." I really REALLY like Kraken, but they need to communicate with their customers.

Re: Bitcoin denominations and naming conventions

Formal:
"centi-bit" (cBTC) / "milli-bit" (mBTC) / "micro-bit" (µBTC) / "satoshi" (sBTC)

Slang:
"ceebits" (cBTC) / "embits" (mBTC) / "youbits" (µBTC) / "satoshi" (sBTC)

But I think the cBTC one is unnecessary. Also, it'd be easier for µBTC to be written as uBTC.

All these denominations could collectively be called "bits". "How many bits would that be? 20 youbits. Here, thanks."

I like the following:

1 BTC or 1B, pronounced "one bitcoin"

and the bits:

1 mBTC or 1 mB pronounced "one millibit" or "one embit"  (both pronunciations can be used, I don't see a problem with that)
1 uBTC or 1 uB pronounced "one microbit" or "one youbit"
1 sBTC or 1 sB pronounced "one satoshi"

+1 to OP and post #61.

I like the notation mB too, but I'd prefer it pronounced em bee. (Micros would then be uB and pronounced you bee.)

Edit: Come to think of it, embits and youbits sounds nice too.
