I have a debit card on the way, and want one for my wife too.
Sure, she could open up her own xapo account and apply for a card, and we're willing to do that.
But if there is no way to link those two accounts together, so that they have a shared balance, it becomes too much of a hassle.

Let's say her account holds 300 dollars worth of bitcoin, mine 500. Neither of us is able to buy something with our card which costs 650 dollars.
But if the two accounts had a shared balance, we would have 800 dollars. See my point?
The way it is now, we would have to move funds before making said purchase, which seems inconvenient.
I see your point, and that would be a nice thing to implement in the future. Having said that, the great thing about bitcoin is the ease of transferring funds. It would literally take seconds to transfer the needed cash from your BTC address in Xapo to hers, so that's not a huge barrier at this moment. Additionally, we do have multi-user wallets. While you can only have one card per account, you can create as many secondary wallets as you want, and they could require permission from all parties in order to withdraw from it.

I have two accounts within the same account if that makes sense, and a debit card for each one. There for emergency only so the fees are not that much of a problem. There just handy to have as a back up.I would recommend Xapo to anyone but you have to give your personal details and US citizens with US addresses cant get a debit card

How did you do that? Are those accounts linked together (shared balance)?
No I have an account with xapo in that account I can have sub accounts, maybe a hot wallet another one a cold wallet and I have a deep vault for long termstorage
I think what he's referring to is that you're not supposed to be able to create two separate Xapo accounts. You'd have to provide another person's identity in order to do that. Do you mean to say you have two cards with the same name on it?

Deathwing i have write to the support, for the same more times later, but not reply.

Send my ID for use a wallet online not is possible, i can understand for request a credit card, but no for send BTC to another account

I have registered Xapo a few months ago. I wanted to use after seeing the "vault" but apparently you need an ID verification to "SEND" any amount of bitcoins you have in the wallet, i did send some of my info but it got declined. (wut) I wrote a message to Support, no replies since then.

Please look into this.

I am astounded that I can't withdraw my own coins. The two options given were supply confidential info or request an account closure. I'm opting for an account closure. I too have emailed support -- and hoping for a prompt response.

It's been over a day now, Xapo has posted here, but still no word from support. Still hoping for a quick response though.

How many days has it been now? Not sure. support doesn't seem to be prompt.
Send me a PM with your email address registered with Xapo.

You'd have to formally cancel the card, and then reorder.

How much is the fee for atm withdrawals?
Here is the list of fees associated with the card: http://support.xapo.com/what-fees-are-associated-with-the-xapo-debit-card
Cash withdraw fees from Xapo varies with the type of card you have and where you are using. It's as low as €2.50 and as high as £3.50.

How Xapo makes a profit, if all fees are charged by the card issuer/ATM operator/VISA?
The debit card program is only one of many services Xapo provides the bitcoin community. Some currently generate income, some do not, but may at some point in the future. This is neither uncommon for start-ups and well established technology companies like Google.

Re: XAPO AND TARINGA! LAUNCH LARGEST BITCOIN INTEGRATION
by

This is great news, for anybody who doesn't know Taringa, they are huge in Latin America, specially in Mexico and Argentina.

In the case of Argentina, to give this exposure to Bitcoin, in a economy that suffers a 40% anual inflation, currency controls (no free markets and several exchange rates for the devaluated local currency) and where most of the population don't have bank accounts, it's great news.

I'm still not sure how it will be implemented but it will definitely help in introducing Bitcoin into new users.
I'd prefer to address Warrior B's very important, and accurate statement vs. splitting hairs on the terminology of "users", but I will address both. This integration is huge because, regardless of the english speaking/european world's unfamiliarity with Taringa! it is a massively popular site, that ranks #16 in Argentina (the sites between 1-15, you've heard of everyone, and most are variants of widely popular sites like Google.com.ar vs. Google.com, Yahoo.com.ar, Amazon, etc.). More importantly, it's users live in countries, like Argentina, that suffer economic depressions regularly, and currently has 40% inflation. The countries that need bitcoin most. The average person here has no idea what it's like to live in a country with currency controls, hyper-inflation, poor financial services. Try paying your rent, in cash, where the largest bill is only worth about $8USD. Bitcoin solves many of the issues Argentines experience day to day, so from a mass adoption strategy, this partnership is huge, and the single largest introduction of bitcoin to a social platform yet.

Taringa! has 75 million unique visitors to the site. 27 million are registered users. I would often visit, and read Reddit, for example, long before I became a registered user, and most would accept, that I was a user of the site. There are currently 200k users browsing the site as we speak (some registered, some not).

One of the leading social network of South America’s, Taringa is launching a Bitcoin rewards program. Users from all corners are invited. Maybe this will create a new dimension in terms of Bitcoin advertisement.

http://www.coinbuzz.com/2015/04/21/hispanic-social-network-taringa-launches-bitcoin-rewards-program/
We're really excited about the potential. Taringa has 75 million unique visitors to the site, and 27 milion registered users, who will all be given bits to share and earn. It's a huge experiment that will create millions of new bitcoin users, all whilst showing other social media platforms that bitcoin integration is the way forward.

Taringa has 27,000,000 million registered users...  Grin and about 300 000 of them are active every day.  Wink

I think it is time to address the 1MB blocks limitation.... a huge surge in new Bitcoin users and the increased transactions would surely influence the blockchain or are they going to run a "in-house" system with Xapo, for it to run off-chain?

Still good news for the whole Bitcoin community, if more people and big businesses adopt or incorporate it.  Grin
That's right. It will be run off-chain, as the Taringa! platform is wholly integrated with Xapo.

Could you please read my question before responding? I already know that I can withdraw cash from ATM's and that wasn't the question I was asking.

Is the Xapo Debit Card useable in stores? It says "Electronic use only" on the back, but I was able to withdraw money from an ATM, so... yeah. I'm not sure anymore.
Hey Mitchell. I'm not clear on your question. The Xapo debit card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted, which would include any store fronts, online, or POS system. As you know, you can also withdraw cash from an ATM, but we encourage its use at POS.

hey can the Xapo Visa card be used at online retailers like amazon or ebay as well or does it have to be face to face transactions?
Yes. Like I said, literally anywhere Visa is accepted. No exceptions.

David from Xapo &/or anyone who can answer this:

In doing my due diligence and checking out the feedback on Xapo first, I'm seeing that it seems to be a favored wallet for Faucets.  Some, like Moon Bitcoin, make direct deposits to Xapo wallet while those with other wallets have to wait until collection day.  I'm curious.  Why is this?

link for moon bitcoin is http://www.moonbit.co.in/

Transactions through Xapo are done off the blockchain, which allows for "instant" payments. If a faucet using Xapo sends to a user who is also using Xapo, the payment is then instantaneous. A bunch of faucets seem to be switching over to Xapo because of this, that and because Xapo's system is free to use and reimburses miner fees, which can save faucets quite a bit of money.
Excellent answer!

It's very normal to require temporary disabling of adblockers, so third party API's can communicate with you, in this case, the Google Maps API. I'm happy to answer any questions you have related to Xapo to confirm our legitimacy.

2 weeks is the longest period to receive the funds from CEVO, right?
I'm not totally clear on your question. You sure this isn't something to ask CEVO?

I did ask for help and was assisted soon there after via email.  While she's been very helpful, I question one thing she's asked me to do to verify my info.  She wants me to remove my adblocker and antivirus software to for it to work.  Is that normal? I'm not really comfortable with running my computer without ad-blockers and definitely not without anti-virus.  Is turning off that software just for the verification process or for the life of the Xapo wallet?  This advise seems a tad fishy to me.  Can any techies speak to the veracity of this advice?

It's still in beta, and the design, including a Xapo branded card, is in the works.

Re: Do you trust yourself to manage your own private keys?
by
Xapo
on 07/04/2015, 18:14:38 UTC
I trust myself to manage them but I am also a security conscious person.

I doubt I would trust an average user or nontechnical user to safely manage their own keys.
There are lots of people I would trust more than myself, but I understand it's a personality trait. I'm paranoid of losing things, my keys, my wallet, my cell phone, etc. While I lose those things far less often than the average person (which I attribute to my paranoia), there is something that inherently makes me questions my ability to not lose stuff, and since I have a fair amount of bitcoin, I'm putting it in the hands of someone I trust more than myself. I understand working on the inside of Xapo, knowing the security team, and seeing the security architecture internally first hand, makes me more trusting, but I trusted Coinbase (and probably still would) even before I started working at Xapo.
