Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite | 1st mini-blockchain coin | M7 PoW | No Premine

My main concern is that if mini blockchain does work. If it works, then Monero can adopt this. Then value of XCN will not rise as fast

Monero will not be able to magically adopt XCN's mini-blockchain technology. Blending the two is no where near that simple--if even possible.

I vote for minicoin -IF- you can get the .com or .org domain (preferably both). I do not think changing the name is as much of a priority as some people make it out to be. Cryptonite will suffice.

I also was brainstorming earlier, and i think bonsai would be a good name (referring to the pruning that is done to keep the blockchain small), but of course getting domains for this would be impossible.

So what about Saicoin?

I'm thinking a name change would be a good idea. There is a lot of chatter going on about how the Cryptonote guys may be associated with a coin-mill churning out alts to pump-and-dump (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=740112.0). This could be significantly hurting Cryptonite's reputation. If it wasn't for this issue I wouldn't think a name change would be that important.

I like Mini-Blocks (XMB) for a name.

All you price whiners need to realize something:

No security (cryptocurrency or otherwise) will have significant short-term returns on investment -UNLESS- it is a pump and dump scam. Big rallies just don't happen magically. It will take months and months for real demand to build up. The fact that the price is collapsing is not at all a bad sign at this stage.

XCN has no pump and dump crew screwing around with the price, which is indicative of the developers intentions to make long term innovations rather than make a quick buck. This is one of the key indicators that I look for when deciding to invest in a coin.

Sure, the developers could do some promotion, but imo it's a waste of time and resources. The coin will make it on its own with its technical merits, and promotion right now will not make a difference in the long run.

Geez people, relax about the price. It's low because there are a ton of coins and no one knows about XCN. The only way people can find out about this coin is by word of mouth or wading through the shit hole that is the altcoin announcements forum.

Thank you for the excellent breakdown! I'd like to raise an issue apart from the specs, however, that's currently presenting a real challenge for this coin, which is the fallout from yesterday's failure to meet most people's expectation of a Bittrex add. Clearly, it's placed downward pressure on price.

As this turn of events was so surprising to so many of us, I'd like to solicit input, particularly from the developer, as to why this occurred, and what steps are being taken to get the coin onto Bittrex.

Thanks.

Bittrex is a cess-pit of pump and dump scamcoins. Adding this coin to Bittrex will not make its value suddenly increase.

Re: Combined Updating Market Depth Chart - XMR Monero - Poloniex and Mintpal
by
catcow
on 30/06/2014, 03:19:53 UTC

I'm really impressed by the way Polo has held on to 70% of XMR volume...
MintPal has picked up only about 15%... and is even lagging Bittrex.

The MintPal interface actually sucks in heavy use...
It's klunky... and you're always paging... and as much as 25% of orders entered just disappear into the ether...
It blows my mind that they do 5,000 BTC/day (though those awful captchas are gone).

Even though I'll have the APIs working soon... why would API trading be any more reliable?

All 4 platforms Mint, Polo, Cryptsy, Bittrex are a joke...
Compared to a proper broker platform like Interactive Brokers TWS with .NET API...
I do $100,000 trades every day on the NYSE and CFE...
It would be totally reckless to do even $5K or $10K trades in Alts.

i'm pretty sure mintpal is in on many of these pump and dump schemes. they have added several coins that were not winners in their voting system, which then were promptly pumped and dumped. i don't think they orchestrate these schemes, but they are likely getting paid a good deal of money for adding all these bullshit "anonymous" coins that come out of nowhere.

i'm holding my XMR position from 0.00230.  really wish i had sold at the most recent top because it looks like it may be a while before new highs. XMR has very good long term prospects, imo. Vericoin looks primed for another exponential rally, but I think it will fade away this year.

it does not make any sense. i'm worried something very bad is going on, but i have no idea what.

dumping because gox is insolvent does you no good, so i don't think that is the cause of this.

(i also think gox is solvent)

It is profitable based on that calculator. But... We never know how many rich kids recently contracted manufacturers to make ASIC Miners for their own consumption. It may or may not make you a profit.

Being in that question means that you are having a little bit of a dilemma on this. One thing is for sure, you got to decide and make it now, whether to order or not.

2 things could happen:

1. ASIC Miners give up because of the difficulty and profitability (Difficulty Reduces = Scarcity Reduces = Price Decreases)

2. More Miners join the fray and cause to raise the difficulty to MT. Everest (Difficulty Increases = Scarcity Increases = Price Increases)

Or could be a mix of 2.

bitcoin's price and scarcity does not at all correlate with how many miners there are or what technology they are using to mine. bitcoin was designed so that its money supply would increase at a constant rate. this is done by the mining difficulty adjustment algorithm. when more and more ASICs are mining, the higher the difficulty gets, so ASICs cannot generate any more coins than were being generated before.

Hi everyone.

BitInstant is not trying to scam anyone and I apologize for any delays.

If you have an issue with your order then you should be logging it with our main support channel...

bitinstant.com/contact

Once this is done your issue will go directly into our support queue and you issue will be looked at by multiple support reps.

I am also usually here trying to help in any way I can...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=128314.0;topicseen

Thanks for your patience as we upgrade our systems to better handle your support inquiries.  Smiley

i contacted your company via the bitinstant.com/contact form 3 days ago.  i also used the old form the day of my order, 11 days ago.

if you are trying to help me then why don't you actually do something?  once again i feel like i'm just being ignored.  do you not see my posts right above you???  can you not read the order id info that i've posted over and over and also have placed in my signature??  you are depositing money into mtgox for new customers, so you must have funds there, or you are scamming.  WHY WON'T YOU REFUND MY MONEY THAT I GAVE YOU 11 DAYS AGO??

Thank you for providing the quote ID with the problem.  We are dealing with a lot of volume and working on improving our customer support.  I apologize for any confusion.  Did you log the correct/BAD issue at bitinstant.com/contact ?

URSAY, this is going around in circles, why don't you just look up the reference numbers and check what happened and sort it out ?

because they've been stalling for over a week.  they probably can't fix the problem, but won't admit it.

i've been waiting 11 days now for a simple mtgox to bitstamp transfer paid with a mtgox coupon code.  they could have just refunded my mtgox coupon code, but didn't.  i've contacted support via the web form, email, telephone(left a message), pm'd Charlie(Yankee), and posted in threads like this one(for example, a reply in this thread on april 12).  i have not even received an acknowledgement that my issue exists--not a single word from support.  i'm literally being ignored on these threads.

see my signature for order information.
