Re: Bitcoin payments in an online store
by

Hi everyone, I'm working on a project to launch an online store, and I want to implement Bitcoin as a payment method. I'd like to know how to do this, since I have no idea where to start. Ideally, I’d like it to work just like a regular fiat payment, meaning I’d be notified, the payment would be linked to the order, and so on. Is this possible? Does anyone here have experience or knowledge on this topic?
If you want to accept only Bitcoin payments that I suggest checking out BTCPay Server.
This is self-hosted, free, open source, and you don't have to pay any fees or use third parties to accept BTC payments.
https://btcpayserver.org/

Another interesting alternative is AnonPay by Trocador.
This can be used as BTCPay Server plugin, and this way you can accept payments from many other altcoins.

Can we all agree a definition for "open source" when referring to SEs?
Open Source in my table means that firmware for specific secure element is released with open source code.
I won't nitpick and get into details with that, but there is a cleat difference between open source, closed source, and source verified.

So it looks like you can now do cross chain swaps within the wallet: https://t.me/unstoppable_announcements/383

They're simply using Thorchain just like some of the other wallet providers out there (Trustwallet, Ledger, OneKey, etc.)
I didn't test this new swapping feature with Unstoppable, but they are probably charging some additional fee for this service.
We could simply use Thorchain directly, but real gamechanger with Untoppable wallet should be addition of monero, that coin is not yet supported on Thorchain as far as I know.

PS
I love Unstoppable proposal for new EURO banknote  Cheesy

Re: Should wallets warn if you re-use addresses due to quantum computers?

What do you think?
I think wallets should first warn you if you are using or genrating low entropy keys or seed phrase, to many people lose coins like that all the time.
In fact there are some hardware wallets that warn you about that, but I didn't saw similar examples with software wallets.

As for quantum computers, if they ever became a thing than Bitcoin would need to have major code upgrade quickly.
Last thing people are going to think was address reuse, but I agree that should not be done in general.
Warning is not a bad idea, or we could just use more Silent Payments, that way address reuse would not be possible.

The only thing that concerns me if they will be able add support from Monero seamlessly without the users facing the sync issues.
Cake wallet improved syncing for monero and it's much faster now, so I expect something similar with Unstoppable wallet.
They had issues in past that made me switch to Cake wallet, but with upcoming updates I will try Unstoppable again.

Another interesting update for Unstoppable wallet, they just added integrated NYM VPN inside wallet settings, and there is exclusive discount from the app.

Re: Electrum 4.6.0 released

a few minutes ago the new 4.6.0 version was released...
this major release adds support for anchor channels, submarine swaps over nostr and third-party plugins and of course some bugs have also been fixed
It's interesting Electrum devs added new terms of use you have to agree with when you install this version.
Audio MODEM plugin sounds interesting because it provides support for air-gapped transaction signing.

Quote
This program can transmit a file between 2 computers, using a simple headset, allowing true air-gapped communication (via a speaker and a microphone), or an audio cable (for higher transmission speed).
http://github.com/romanz/amodem/

I hope we can see more useful plugins in future, maybe something to improve privacy for bitcoin.
Just beware for potentially new bugs connected with this plugins.

We use the NTAG424 chip from NXP, which is certified at EAL4+ and guarantees data retention for over 50 years.
Our recovery cards will soon be available separately for purchase on our website.
It’s not possible to build these cards using blank cards because they rely on a special authentication key preloaded during production.
Thanks for replying.
I think that regular credit card format is better option, as they can easily blend in and look like another credit/debit card.

Yes, of course we plan. We already finished implementation Tron and Solana, and on the way implementing TON. Full our list of implementation available here
I don't care about coins you mentioned, but I would appreciate to see optional Bitcoin-only firmware version, or maybe Bitcoin plus Monero (when it gets supported).

Re: PrivateTalk – Encrypted & Self-Destructing Messages [100% Privacy | Open-Source]

1. Go to PrivateTalk and create a personal key. This personal key is made up of two parts: a public key and a private key.
2. Don't give the private key to anyone! You can put the public key in your Bitcointalk profile, for example.
3. If I want to send you a secret message, I go to PrivateTalk, create the message and enter your public key.
4. A link will be generated and sent to you via PM.
5. You enter the link and have to use your private key to open the message (password type).

What do you think of the idea?
OK I get it now, you first need to know the public key of member who is receiving your message.
It sounds good in theory, but clear and simple instructions must be written for people to actually use this.
I can this can be very useful for keeping privacy in some dark scenarios of a hacked forum.

You need to activate card after purchase. Card issuer will ask for email and address. It's not allowed to use VPN/Tor on redemption, you should provide a valid email address.
It's kind a silly not to allow people to use Tor or VPN when they are paying for this virtual cards with monero.
It's even worse that we have to provide real address and email address.
If someone is willing to pass or bypass that, than having 3DS support is a good thing.

Currently USDT has a freeze-function on all platforms except one - Liquid.
Hmmm, that is interesting.
I didn't know that L-USDT coins can't be frozen, and that is a good thing, but Liquid is Federated Network, so I don't fully trust them.
Still is it is solid alternative, especially knowing that Liquid transactions are confidential.

According to the Dutch Cryptocast, LN usage is growing in Africa.
Good luck to them, but I have zero hopes coming from Africa, and I am sure they are all using custodial wallets.

I was never able to publish addons on Chrome, because they need some kind of KYC (or at least credit card and phone number) to add an extension there.
Chrome users should use Greasy Fork extension
Did you have plans on creating more userscripts that can work together with bitcoindata.science?
I think I saw Bitcoindata extension on GreasyFork website, but I think you should also create something for Unit Converter and Giveaway Manager.

Onepapel website is not working for me, so only thing I could check out is your github page.
We already have one bitcointalk community project that is provably fair, and made by our member bitmover.
Name of this project is Bitcointalk Giveaway Manager, it is free to use, and it is all based on bitcoin blocks.
Many people use this for selecting giveaway winners, and you can check it out and compare it with your service:

The idea would be for users to create a secure identity (key pair) within PrivateTalk, publicly sharing only the public key.
This would allow any user to send encrypted messages directly to that user using this public key. However, only those who have the private key saved can read it.

It would be a "super simple PGP-like" approach. What do you think? Does it make sense?
Comments and suggestions are welcome!
Your idea sounds good, but how would a member who receives the message know a private key?
I don't fully understand how this secret identity would work with bitcointalk messages, unless we are using some other way of communication.

Roger Ver is apparently suing Spain for violating his legal protections after Spanish authorities ruled that he could be extradited to the United States.
He filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Human Rights, but he didn't want to comment anything about this.
