You’re right, this sneaky bastard usually copy everything from an admin especially the username that typically change a little bit like “o” to “0” and other letter to number changes just to look like he is the real admin.
Admins never DM first, never ask for money, never ask for private keys and so on. Remember this principle and people who know about this as well as are careful enough will not be scammed by impersonators.

The scam method you mentioned is quite common. It's IDN Homograph Attack.

Bitcoin has proven to be consistent and reliable over the years with measures made available to secure our assets from malware attacks by providing face verification, 2FA, email verification and the likes.
With Bitcoin, you only need Bitcoin mnemonic seed, private key to own your bitcoins, and fully access your coins as well as free to broadcast your Bitcoin transactions.

With Bitcoin, if you are your self custodian, you don't rely on any third party with 2FA, face verification like with banks or centralized exchanges. It's unnecessary and it's risky too.

With Bitcoin wallets for example Electrum, you can have 2FA wallet with 2FA is from TrustedCoin but you can always import the wallet mnemonic seed and disable 2FA if you no longer want to use it from Trustedcoin.

Remove 2FA in Electrum and use Standard Wallet instead.

Of course it’s not safe once your system gets compromised, but what I meant is it only helps minimize the risk, not fully remove it. The best way to handle risk is still to spread your funds, don’t keep everything in one wallet that’s connected to your phone. And with this news, I think they’re talking about the advanced feature of the iPhone 17. I don’t even use iPhone myself, but you know how it goes, hackers will always adapt no matter what phone or tech comes out.
It can be a physical or software issues so hot wallets basically are never safe to store big fund. If you store big fund on a phone, you will have trouble some time in the future like you lose it somewhere, it breaks down physically or it has technical issues or hacks, whatsoever issues. You can have problems with smart phones from all brands, not only iPhone from Apple so security-wise practice is the same for all phone brand companies.

Phones are more sensitive and vulnerable with technical, physical issues as well as online threats from hackers. Lastly, the advice is always store big fund in cold wallets and always have different wallet backups for a single wallet. Even it is a hot wallet on a phone, you must have different wallet backups and this practice is like a standard.

I don't know. I have never played in decentralized casinos, as it is kind of painful. You have to approve the transaction each time you place bets. I don't think real decentralized casinos have anything to do with the KYC system. I am not talking about these casinos. Some other unlicensed small casinos do not ask for KYC, and they operate anonymously. But since they are tiny casinos, they are not popular.
Experience with decentralized exchanges or casinos is always related to more fees in on chain transactions but if people consider that KYC is not what they want, as it is dangerous while their main priority is privacy and anonymity, web3 wallets and decentralized platforms would be their most favorite and even only choices.

Experience and practice with decentralized casinos, web3 casinos will also require interactions through smart contracts. It's dangerous and people must know the importance of revoking smart contract approval and access as well.

DuckDice has very bad reputation here. They got big issues in the past, and after very long time, they resolved those cases, then seemed to operate well for several months before they began to have problems with scam accusations again and tend to ignore those cases so again their reputation declines.

Can this be true?

I think it is not true but just a way to manipulate people's mind to think that is Trump intention. I am not a fan of Trump but I do not think this is true about him.
It is untrue and I am not a fan of either Trump or the US. but I am tired of such liars from Putin and many propagandas from the Russia Federation.

Quote
Do you think Trump is using bitcoin and gold to devalue United States debt?
Bitcoin does not have that power and even if Trump and the US want to devalue their national debt, Bitcoin is not able to help them achieving this. Let's deal with their national debt by doing many systematic and national policies to fix their country's problems. They can not hope that Bitcoin will fix many things for them including systematic and national issues.

By the way let's check the US national debt.

If the accusation comes with no single proof, it is fine to ignore it but if it comes with some proofs, a casino should not ignore it although the casino is not doing something wrong.
That's how casino should do to show their professionalism in dealing with complaints, accusations, or something similar.
Customers first and all business must know this as well as put it on a top of their to-do things for serving customers.

In general, both business and customers must respect each other and treat each other well. Regarding to customers, they should not react emotionally, and be crudal agains any business, as such actions only escalating things quickly. We know "Business must treat customers first" but staffs are human and they can lose their controls anytime so customers must know it and have proper elegantly actions when contacting for support, whatsoever.

Re: Congress Demand Treasury to Custody all US Acquired Bitcoin
by
hd49728
on 09/09/2025, 12:26:54 UTC
This is not unusual. Often times the government will delegate something to a private company because it is more specialized in dealing with those things and is able to do so at a lower cost. However, in this case it would be more better to withdraw all of this from Coinbase. There is an overall benefit from that as Coinbase will have fewer coins, they already have too many stored with them.
The US government can deal with Coinbase, sign a contract with Coinbase and use Coinbase as their custodian but we individually should not try to do the same. Coinbase never intend to cheat the US. government in any national contract between the US government and Coinbase. They know what to do in order to keep their business and owners safe but with non-government customers, Coinbase can do differently.

I don't say Coinbase have already cheated or treated their individual customers bad but it's a principle for individual Bitcoin users and investors to keep in mind. This means you should not trust Coinbase and should not trust any other third party companies.

Congress Demand Treasury to Custody all US Acquired Bitcoin

Congress has made the request directing the US Treasury to Highlights the necessary plans of all the acquired Bitcoin including those from the strategic bitcoin reserve to all be in custody, what they are trying to do here is to ensure that all bitcoin both from the strategic reserve and the seizures made should be within their personal custody so that they can always have access to it.
It is a bill introduction and it needs to be passed by the Congress through votes and this progress can fail at the end. I don't care about it, as it does not mean the USA governement will buy more bitcoins and no new buying force will appear from them. There is a limited effect by they will no longer sell those seized bitcoins if the Bill approved in the future, which we are uncertain now.

Coinbase can be their custodian but I hope that people don't immediately choose Coinbase as where they store bitcoins after reading this news. The US. governement can choose Coinbase but as individual investors and even institutional investors, go with self custodial wallets and be your own custodians is best.

Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts

Promotion and advertising always yield results in long term and for chips.gg I believe they are no new name in the industry anymore and am talking about almost everywhere because there are countless times of which I have seen this casino ads outside the community here and even social media influencer over in my country do talk about chips.gg sometimes and it amazes me which shows their level of seriousness and activeness in the gambling industry business.
It is not simply spending money for marketing and harvest results quickly but it requires long term business operation and marketing. Whilst marketing itself can not help if the company doss not build up good platform and services, customer cares for users.

Marketing is something on top and can make quick noise and even impression or attraction but to gain success, foundation of a business is more important but marketing and time will help to amplify that brand appearance and exposure to community, then help the brand development or even explosion if it goes viral.

Re: How Long Should You Hold Bitcoin for a Passive Income
by
hd49728
on 08/09/2025, 14:51:44 UTC
The profit we got from selling Bitcoin is a capital gain, not passive income.
If you consider profit from investment is part of your income, Bitcoin can bring passive income. It is a term and can be used depexently on each person's view. I don't think it is too important to have an agreement on which term is correct, which term is inaccurate.

I consider Bitcoin profit as my income and it does not mean I don't have to work. Buying, holding and securing my wallets and wallet backups are sort of works so it passive income for me.

With government, they surely consider it as capital gain as they enforce Capital Gain Tax on us.

Re: Can Bitcoin survive the next generation?
by
hd49728
on 08/09/2025, 14:34:02 UTC
Those debates are nonsense. It's proven that Bitcoin can stand the test of time and was able to overcome the hardest periods of time like those dark days when people haven't heard of it. And if they do, it's mostly from the dark web and other illegal activities. But this time, it's all about how the mainstream have adopted it, the big financial institutions and even countries have an idea now to invest on it.
It is non sense as from 2009 to 2025, how many generations exposed to Bitcoin and actually participated in Bitcoin community and market. I think it is two generations at least if not up to three generations and if Bitcoin has been successfully survived through two or three generations, it has been strong enough to move onwards to more future generations.

With time, Lindy effect will make Bitcoin stronger and has better survivalability.

This Lindy effect works with other things and will work with Bitcoin too.

Re: Beginner Bitcoin portfolio roadmap
by

on 08/09/2025, 14:06:27 UTC
The first thing is to have knowledge first, and you will see the reason why you need to invest in Bitcoin more and why you don't need to invest in shitcoins. Normally, in investments, it makes no sense when others give their opinions on what you need to invest in; the knowledge you will gain will serve as a roadmap for you.

The knowledge you will obtain will help you to understand risk and how you can manage it as well. Seek knowledge first; don't be too focused on what to invest in initially, because if you do, you may end up settling on the wrong opinion of others, which may affect you due to the lack of understanding.
Learn for knowledge first before doing your investment. Some people can invest money in Bitcoin without any learning but it is not recommended as this blind investment practice makes their mentality very weak. In this volatile market, lack of knowledge will lead to uncertainty and in most volatile times, such blind investors will more likely have weak hands, then sell bitcoins for losses.

By learning first, getting knowledge, people get good foundation for their investment start as well as long journey. It is helpful for them to avoid panic when market has tests aim at unknowledgeable, weak-handed and inexperienced investors. If they are well-prepared in knowledge, they are good to go through market tests and strongly aim at profitable investment result.

5 years is an amazing result. Chips is already an established casino with loyal customers, that's why they are able to run such an amazing contests and keep the competitiveness in this competitive market. It's not easy to run a casino these days when there are hundreds or probably thousands of crypto casinos because of the easiness of starting this business thanks to SaaS.
In a high competitive industry, running your gambling business for one year but this casino has been doing this for five years with mass success. There are times they received critics but overal they have gone through five years very well and at the moment, their reputation is quite good. It is a good mark from community that is most important for any business.

It's harder than simply spend money for marketing in short term and by gaining good recognition from the user community, forum community and maintain good reputation in five years, Chips.gg has already made their good brand here as well as in gambling industry.

Re: Private Keys vs Seed Phrases- What They Are and Why They Matter
by

on 07/09/2025, 08:58:50 UTC
I know how important it is for every bitcoinrr to acquire the knowledge of seed phrases and private keys but I can tell you for free
What's free knowledge you shared here, honestly?

Quote
it's not everyone will be able to learn these things we're talking about because it is not everyone who will have the interest to even learn these things as much as it is encouraged to do so.
It's whether they want to learn or not. If they want to learn, they are surely able to learn it as it is not too hard for learning. Oppositely, if they don't want to learn, it does not mean they are not able to learn.

Quote
Some bitcoin users might only end up using bitcoin on centralized exchanges and may not see the need to use these seed phrases or private keys but I can also tell people how important it is because recently I just have a serious challenge with a centralized platform called KuCoin who held my funds in my wallet and could not allow me to withdraw it. It was there and then I understood the importance of decentralized exchanges.
You said like you are careful and experienced but your story means you were careless and ignored many advice like the others. You ignored warnings, practiced like don't see risk of centralized exchanges before your account gets problems and you struggled to withdraw your fund.

Where did you share your story and problem with Kucoin exchange?
I'd like to read more details on it.

Re: Why no forks these days?
by
hd49728
on 07/09/2025, 08:44:36 UTC
It’s a good thing that there haven’t been any forks in a long time. If you know your history, they were the result of long, drawn out civil wars over block size. You might be in luck though, there is currently big splits between people over spam filters on the blockchain. Bitcoin Core vs Bitcoin Knots, I fear there will be another fork.
I don't know it is actually good as scammers tried another way with their exploitation on Taproot with Ordinals and Runes Protocol. These shit tokens on BRC20 actually attracted many unknownledgeable, inexperienced but over greedy people who spent a lot of money for ORDI and RUNEs as well as other shit tokens with hope of x100, x1000. Eventually they lost big with those shit and useless tokens on BRC20.

Scammers won't stop and they can move around to be adaptive with newest trend technically for launching new scam projects with highest chance of successful scams. They no longer create Bitcoin forks as they see this trend gone and they can not succeed with new forks.

But as a newbie, I want to tell you to keep Bitcoin in your investment and not any other shitcoin/meme coin other than Bitcoin because you can expect to achieve success in long-term preservation of Bitcoin, but if you keep shitcoin/memecoin in your investment portfolio, then I don't know if you will be successful in long-term investment.
Altcoins die, shitcoins die, meme tokens die but Bitcoin will continue to be strong and alive in this market. Choosing Bitcoin is a best choice you can make for your investment portfolio in this cryptocurrency market. It's like you pick the golden investment asset among thousands of useless and scam assets (altcoins).

The advice of picking Bitcoin, or even only Bitcoin for an investment portfolio is very common, but unfortunately most of newbies ignore Bitcoin and decide to invest in shitcoins.

How many cryptocurrencies have failed (dead coins)?

Quote
It will be very important for you to only hold BTC but you can start from now if you want because there is still plenty of time to buy Bitcoin.
Hold it in your cold storage.
Hold it in your open source, non custodial wallet.
Hold it in a wallet that you already made wallet backups and test wallet backups for recovery.

DON'T hold it on centralized exchanges, in custodial wallets.

Re: Bitcoin as a legal tender; not so far off
by

on 07/09/2025, 03:39:55 UTC
Though the thread might have said it isn’t too far off for Bitcoin to serve as legal tender, siting an example with El-Salvador, well I think we aren’t there yet or close to having Bitcoin serve as a legal tender.

Majority of the people who own Bitcoin today do see it for its investment benefits, the whales and today we see government using it for its national reserves. That’s to tell you the value that is expected of Bitcoin because as it is, there isn’t enough Bitcoin for the rest of the world to use in terms of value and as such, we are still far away from it serving as a legal tender.
Governments are far from making Bitcoin legal tender globally and even if they want to try with Bitcoin legal tender, the actual acceptance and usage in societies would be something different that is not controlled by governments. It's natural and social selection and people as citizens of a nation and in the world have freedom to make their choices and decisions.

In my opinion it is too unrealistic for global Bitcoin legal tender to go into effects and actually used by all people and companies on this planet. Bitcoin adoption will grow up more, exponentialy too but I disbelive in any future with Global Bitcoin Legal Tender.

I totally disagree with your opinion. It's not the same measures as FIAT money because if you want to save that money you need a bank account since you cannot store cash in a personal vault at home. In the other hands, bitcoin can be stored in an offline wallet encrypted with complex algorithms installed in our personal devices or even without an active wallet, you just need the private keys who can be stored in a writtable metal or even a small piece of paper.
You can store your cash, gold at home in personal vaults or basements, anywhere you think secure and safe, but it's what you think and I agree that storing those things at home is very risky. Your home can be damaged by water, fire, explosion or natural catastrophe which can knock your house anytime. Storing them in banks is even not completely secure as there are reported bank heists in history.

Generally, one more thing to say no with this method, it is too cumbersome.

In contrast, storing bitcoin is not cumbersome and it is truly easy, flexible, portable and more.

The bullish case for Bitcoin.
