Re: Loan request; BTCJAM for Expanding our newspaper - 2BTC - No collateral

Didn't you spam this section a few months ago looking for a btcjam loan to help fund some other business of yours? I remember reading your loan request, but not specifically what business venture you were trying to fund, but I know it was def not a newspaper business

Spam?   I don't consider announcing a business proposition for a loan, spam.  I think this is exactly what this forum is meant for.

As for my last loan request.  Yes.  I did get the loan.  I did pay it back.

How long have we been in to newspapers?    This is our 3rd newspaper in our 3rd state.   We have been doing our own print newspaper since 2011.     This is part of our business.

Anyway, this loan has been funded.   The offer is now closed.   Thanks for checking in.

Yeah, and they are really nice guys too.

If you don't get any takers on your Skyhook box, I'll buy it just to have an extra one (assuming it works ok).  I can't pay anywhere near the 2.8 BTC, tho.

PM me.

It works, see my videos from previous posts.

2.80 is less than retail, less than I paid for it.   But I could go to 2.60 at the absolute lowest.    (or whatever $850 USD translates too)

Anyway, just a way for someone who is buying one retail to save some coin.    Thanks for the offer.

We started a newspaper this fall in Pocatello Idaho called "The Clovis Star".
The newspaper is a quarterly publication that reaches approximately 5000 homes in 3 states, and expanding.  We also have an online version  (see the link below).
We enjoy promoting free market, liberty related, and of course bitcoin topics.
We need to raise $450 to get our paper printed for the winter season.
We will print your ad if you donate at least $50 worth of coin.
Reference to our newspaper's last edition >
http://clovisstar.com/the-clovis-star-quarterly/

If you wish to redeem the free ad offer, for donations of $50 (worth of coin) or more.
You will receive a 2"x2" black and white ad, either text or image.  We can also help you create your ad.

BITCOIN ADDRESS:   122UYDM6x7c2dWjsExpcsAiohvo2f2n4cx

Add a message with the link to the blockchain transaction for your ad.
If you would like an image for your ad, please post the image here, or via PM.

It came with a pre-made wallet, with the password printed on a piece of paper.

Blockchain.info won't allow me to change the main password ("for security reasons, you have to create a new wallet"), so...that's what I had to do to secure it.  Took awile, since I had already set it all up using the wallet it came with.

Got mine running now...setup was less difficult than I expected, but still a couple hours (mainly because I used the wallet it came with, which can't be made secure).

I have a twitter feed for it, @bitcoinindy, and some sales graphs, etc: https://sites.google.com/site/kieronbm/home/atm

I don't understand, what do you mean by the wallet it came with?    I connect securely to blockchain.info with my Project Skyhook ATM.  Do you have a different model?

while i have no used it and never seen it working, i had a Chance to see it without electricity - http://instagram.com/p/xKUH81Qqrn/
Looks allright but no idea if it works - guys that had it have never made it run.

Not sure if you saw this, but I demonstrated ours here;   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9FGBNzfquM

I haven't had the capital to put into this, to make it function.   I want to be able to have a few coins to stick in my blockchain wallet (where the Skyhook connects to for a wallet), but I have been overwhelmed by start up costs, and I haven't been able to establish our ATM yet.   But soon hopefully.

I would be willing to sell mine for 2.80 coin plus 0.15 for shipping if anyone is interested in buying?  (escrow required)

i woulda invested into you!

I appreciate the confidence!   So far our business is exceeding our expectations.  We have assets, but very little liquid right now.  So we started on sort of a shoe-string budget.  But we have a prime location, great customer base, and a nice political soap box!

I have intended on getting a Coinkite POS system, but there has not been a lot of demand for bitcoin purchases so far.   But, of course that is part of why we are here!  We love educating people on bitcoin!

I will share our next newspaper edition here, with a polished article on this bitcoin lending success story.

Thanks!

Loan has been repaid.  I am sorry for the late pay.   I described the problem with the delayed repay here;

Thank you all very much for this loan!   I may use the bitcoinlendingclub some day in the future for a business expansion.   But BTCJAM has been a success so far.    You can also read my review of this loan, and the process at the link above.

On more thing, is that I have funded over 10 loans myself.   I am not just a taker.  I give back.   I contribute to the crypto community.
If you look me up at BTCJAM, I have funded several there.  I have even had a few people scam me.   But I am proud to be a giver rather than just a taker.

I have yet to try any of the other BTC Lending services.  But I will eventually get around to it.  So far, I only have experience with BTCJAM and Bitcointalk, and friends in person.

I will be writing a polished article for my newspaper about this experience also.   ref;  clovisstar.com

Review of borrowing at BTCJAM, and my recommendations so far
by
slu2
on 29/12/2014, 03:05:13 UTC
I just completed a semi-large loan at BTCJAM as the borrower.   I was late in paying it back, which was my fault, but I did eventually get it paid back.

Originally I took the loan as a bridge loan for a larger loan we had been approved for.

Ref:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=826256.msg9231647#msg9231647

I was trying to get my sign for my shop ahead of the holiday season, and our loan was in limbo for a month.

Eventually we ended up having to go with a different hard money lender, extending our closing date a bit.

I got funded at BTCJAM finally, and I got 3.94 BTC.

Before the loan came due, I tried to buy coin, and sell LTC to pay the loan off 2 weeks early.

After selling my LTC at BTC-E.com, 2.157 BTC was taken from my account.  Which I found out, someone had hacked my email, and they were able to steal my coin and verify the transaction via email.    This basically happened because I lost my phone, and then disabled 2FA in order to access the coin in my BTC-E account.  I never re-enabled 2FA, which is why this all was my fault for getting hacked.   I have since changed which email address that I use, I changed all of my password, and I re-enabled 2FA.  I also bought a phone with no service for cold storage.

So after the 2.157 coin got stolen, I was short on the loan.  I had bought some coin at coinbase, and it took several days for the payment to clear, but that left me with only 2.76 coin, to repay a loan that was due at 4.25 BTC.

So I sold my Chevy Tahoe (really nice ride), and I tried buying coin.  I went to Virvox, Coin.mx, and ebay.   But my daily interest kept compounding, plus the late fees and such.   So eventually, my payoff was at 5.525 BTC.
I couldn't pay partial payments to keep the interest low.  I had to pay ALL OR NOTHING.

My main complaint with BTCJAM, is that I could not pay a partial payment.   Had I been able to pay a partial payment, the loan would have been paid back 2 weeks ago, because my interest would have been lower.

Buying coin online is a real pain in the ass too.   I have some mining rigs, and I used to sell items from my store on BITMIT.net (before their demise).
So I have always had access to coin.   Even after all of the money exchanges were shut down, I still had plenty of coin.
But buying coin online there are strict limits, increased fees, and a bunch of other hurdles such as processing delays.

My recommendations to BTCJAM.

Please enable partial payments.  Any where else a person gets a loan, partial payments are a given.  I've never encountered a place that will not allow for partial payments.

My hope for the bitcoin community, is to encourage more diverse loan options.   I think payday loans, title loans, and other types of loans would be a useful and profitable endeavor.   I have saw others on this forum who are allegidly going forward with a BTC/TITLE LOAN company.  I have watched for months for them to release their service, but so far I haven't found anything that has been released yet.

One other thing, is that people who play "gatekeeper" here need to be less fucking hyper about threats and negative feedback.

VOD had me pinned as a scammer when I came here looking for a loan.  His spidey sense was way way off.   I own my debts, and I never default!

You could buy some crazy shit on the deep web with bitcoin.

I wish Bitmit.com would come back.   I had a good sellers account there!   Pisses me off that HK started shutting bitcoin down.
I don't visit the darkweb anymore.  But at one time I had a list of some interesting sites from the DW.   But nothing beat Bitmit!

What did this bitmit sell? Was it like an ebay type of marketplace?

Ya very much like Ebay.   I made well over 100 coins from Bitmit before they closed up.  Apparently they got shutdown because they offered escrow services.

I think it's handicap that will eventually be solved in bitcoin. At least I hope so.

I was able to round up all of the coin, and I paid my loan.  If I was a hacker, I wouldn't be paying other people's loans off.

I owned this loan, and I did everything in my power to not default on it.  I even sold my tricked out Chevy Tahoe a few days ago in order to pay this loan off.

Am I still a potential hacker?   Come on, please be rational here people.  Caution is a good thing.  Extreme paranoia is not always a positive attribute.

I used to think fiat was a lame way to do transactions after finding bitcoin.   I tried to move over to BTC as much as possible.

But with my experiences, using BTC is becoming not worth my time.

1.  I have never had fiat $$ stolen from me.   But I have with bitcoin.  Had fiat been stolen from my bank account, it would be insured, and I would have gotten my money back.  With BTC, from what I understand, there is not a FDIC type of insurance from any company yet.
2.  I have never had a problem getting a loan with fiat, but coin is a pain in the ass.
3.  After losing Bitmit, and many good exchanges to regulations, and such.  Bitcoin is much more complicated to work with.
4.  People in the bitcoin community tend to be a bit more hyper (take this thread for example)

Surely there has to be a better way.

I hope BTC starts making a comeback.  But so far, I keep hitting barriers that I don't encounter with fiat and it is highly discouraging.

You laugh at people's request for a valid collateral? Your account is nothing special, you are nothing special. We are all equals here and you can't expect people to loan you 0.15 Btc if you're so uncompromising given the history of this sub-forum.

Well yes I laugh at people who come to a thread, which is for a loan titled  "NO COLLATERAL".   If I was interested in offering collateral, I would have stated as much to begin with.   If people do not like the tersm, they are not under any obligation to invest.    If the post was titled  "possible collateral" or "collateral negotiable" that would be different.  But in my title I posted:  "Re: Loan needed 0.15 btc - 10 days - No collateral "

No collateral, means no collateral.  Is that so hard for people to understand?
The people who are posting offering to lend you money with some kind of collateral are trying to offer you a solution to the fact that you need a loan and that you will probably not get a no-collateral loan with your lack of trust.

Furthermore your response to people who are asking for collateral more or less ensures that anyone who was considering making the mistake to lend you money without collateral are not going to want to do so because of your lack of respect towards others

It's possible that you missed it, but the people who came to this thread, had no intentions of loaning money.   They asked for something that was not offered.   I offered an opportunity to invest, with NO COLLATERAL.    When someone comes here and demands collateral, that is very disrespectful.
If you don't want to loan money without collateral, then move on.  No need in being rude, and demanding something that is not offered.

And besides the loan offer is closed.  I no longer need it, as I said yesterday.
I counted three people who were willing to lend you money. Regardless of what kind of loan you were able to get on any other lending site, this is not that website. Lenders are much more conservative with risk here then on other sites. What the lenders were doing was the fine art of negotiating - they were asking for something in addition to what you were offering in order for you to get what you wanted.

People have scammed for less then $1 so the fact that you say you will not scam for $49 is illogical.

To lend to you without collateral would not be an investment, it would be a gamble.

To respond to the fact that your password was reset recently, what you are describing happening was you changing your password, not resetting it. When you reset your password you either use your email to receive a new temporary password or use your security question to change your password (both without knowing your previous password)

Point is that my terms were very clear, and I was not offering collateral.  Not even as an option.   The loan offer is over, and this site sucks for loans.  I won't be using this site in the future for any such endeavor.  There are much better places on the web for that.

My problem right now isn't the collateral. It's that your account password was recently reset which leads us to suspect you are not the rightful owner of this account.

Understandable.  I recently got an email that had an offer to sell a .zip of a database dump from bitcointalk.org.  After getting that email, I changed my password.   In fact, I have changed it twice since I got that email.   I will likely be changing it weekly, on multiple sites, just to stay safe.

Don't worry about the investment offer though.  I found a few good resources to get coin without all of the fuss.   I bought some on ebay, and virwox, and that got me where I needed to be.

I can understand that. But you are not supposed to leave a negative feedback for mere suspicion.
You should be giving a neutral trust warning future lenders, which should be removed after the loan has been paid.

Negative - You were scammed or you strongly believe that this person is a scammer.

Refusing escrow does not amount to scamming. I have lend 0.28BTC to wardick and much more without collateral. And no escrow. There can be various reasons for declining escrow, of which onee can be scamming, but there are other reasons too, like not trusting the escrows here due to previous experiences, delays, or potential denial of signature payment due to inactivity.

+100

Right, I can think of 100 reasons that offering collateral for an insignificant quick loan is not a good expenditure of time and effort.

Offering accounts, alt coin, etc for $49.   It just seems like it wouldn't be worth all of the effort.   For all of that effort, it would be better to go to another source for loans.  Like I said, I got nearly 4BTC from BTCJAM with no collateral.
If I needed $49 so desperately that I was willing to waste a bunch of time and effort on this endeavor, I would just go to another source.   I wouldn't compromise my account for $49.   That's like having a place to live, and needing to borrow $49, and then someone offers  "if you give me the keys to your house and car, I will loan you the money, and I will require access to the house and car whenever I need it".    Or  "you need $49, ok I'll loan it to you, but I want to crash on your couch".

I really don't need the coin THAT BAD.  But if I ever do, I will come back to this thread for round 2.  Sad
