I installed the S3+ upgrade on one of my S1's. I'm holding off on installing the others because my S3+ is mining at 1/2 the speed it did before it was upgraded. It went from 180GHz to 105GHz. (That was using the latest S3 firmware. When I used the latest S1 firmware, no mining is happening at all. Help!

I have received mine, I had ordered the heat grease and had plenty on hand.  40 x 1.5 gram syringes. I used one for each side of the hash boards.

First inventory parts, I was shorted 2 springs but no big deal I guess.

Next download the latest firmware from bitmaintech.com

Login to miner, and flash the firmware, check the keep settings box

After the upload completes you get a verification screen before it is committed make sure that the information is correct and select Apply/save

wait for the system to reboot login and verify the firmware has taken

if the firmware says its an s3 then the firmware is complete shutdown and tare the Unit apart / clean and prep for assembly.

My first unit took ~ 3 hours but the next was much easier and any additional will be a lot faster

Ok, I found the problem. I do appreciate everyones help!

It was an upstream router doing intrusion prevention, specifically denying bitcoin transactions.

I appreciate the help, but what I've got is not a networking problem. The miner is talking to the pools. It's just not mining.

How do I know it's talking to the pools? Because it's in the log files of both the miner and the firewall.

I suppose I'll know in 10 minutes or so if it's working. BUt I have to step away.

There is nothing listed on the miner status page - just "This section contains no values yet." It's been sitting empty for 3 weeks.

The lights on the actual device are flashing slowly, and the Realtime Load on the Realtime Graphs - Load page shows the average load at .04. I'm pretty sure based on that it's completely idle.

There is traffic on eth1.

The WAN interface is set up just as the manual and the youtube video describes. There is no configuration on the LAN. You can see packets on the WAN interface in both directions.

I can ping and traceroute from the box to both stratum.btcguild.com and api.bitcoin.cz

I don't get it.

I sent my settings over to the support people at jonesgear, where I bought the miner. They are using my worker on one of their miners. that same exact information will not work for me.

So yes, my worker is in the right format, and yes, I created the username on btcguild.com

There is only one pool in there (listed 3 times), but on your suggestion I made another one on another site to see what would happen.

definitely can ping stratum.btcguild.com.

I watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuBvGUT6VM8

and with the exception of his IP address, I matched it setting for setting.

the miner sees the pool. the pool sees the miner. but there is no mining going on.

I can watch the traffic (on the firewall) between the miner and the pool.

Yea, that reset button is small. But after you've pressed it 75 times as I have, I can find it in my sleep.

I went back in an made the WAN port active via DCHP, and now the miner sees the outside network via that port.

But I still have no mining going on. I don't understand why this is being so difficult.

Screenshots would be awesome.

I had the WAN ports set up, and the miner could talk outside the network just fine. But mining would never start. So I read some forums somewhere and they said the use the LAN port.

Now the LAN ports work the way they are supposed to, but still, no mining.

I'm not proud to say this, but I've been struggling at getting mining started for over 2 weeks, and I can't get anything to happen.

I've been struggling with this for weeks. I cannot figure out what needs to happen in order for the miner to actually start mining.

The vendor has been no help, other than replacing the miner, but the problems I'm having are the exact same.

Is someone able to help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? I've set the miner up, and the miner can communicate to devices outside of my network. The credentials have been tested by the vendor. But I cannot get the mining to start.

The WAN port is disabled, and I'm communicating with the miner via the LAN port.

The LAN port has full access to my network and outside of my internet connection.
