Well lately I have been falling back to gambling addiction and it looks like I can't stop no matter how hard I try. The problem is that I only love to play 90% of the times from my Linux machine in my home as I love to play from the comfort of my home and was thinking what to do to block these websites of the casinos I play and resorted to REJECTING traffic from the iptables command in the firewall of my Ubuntu machine, well it worked like a charm and I don't intend to delete these rules ever. In fact I have already forgotten the rules though and I don't intend to check back. I intend to keep my promise to myself to stop gambling altogether and I will totally achieve it because I am very decisive about it. No one can stop me now, it was that going from 20 to 800 dollars and losing it all that made me do this. In case anyone is in my same shoes here are the rules to REJECT traffic, also there is needed both INPUT and OUTPUT.

It seems that in this section the most popular discussions are "gambling as entertainment" and "gambling as an addiction". It seems like two sides of the same coin, inseparable from each other. But it seems to me that this is not quite true, but only stages in the "life" of a gambler: at first, gambling is perceived as entertainment, until it passes into the stage of addiction. And in principle, when a gambler says that for him it is entertainment, he is right, being at this stage.
Regarding your post above, you made the right step, because by creating an extra barrier "on the way" to gambling, it becomes easier for you not to play and get rid of the addiction. Add to this another "re-focus of attention" on some other activity, in the form of sports, hobbies or anything that will "capture" your attention and allow you not to remember gambling.
I suppose it is possible to add a recommendation for those who are trying to stop their gambling activity. First of all, you need to delete all applications and sites from your smartphone, because now the phone is always at hand for each user and because of this, the desire for gambling will arise. I assume that most gamblers still play from the phone. Also, it would not be superfluous to set a ban on installing applications on the phone.
